@obsequies I think the game will go deeper than just religion. Though the dogma varies, at the core every religion, even atheism is driven by same questions. Difference is, a religious person claims to know the answers and an atheist claims the answer to be wrong. The concept of life and death is just something different religions touch upon, doesn't mean religions have monopoly on those. You don't need to follow a religion to wonder about life or death.
I realize that it is not exactly targeted for someone like me [well, not for next 3 years at least] but why was so much time spent on this? I mean, folks glued to E3 conference aren't exactly the target audience for this. One minute is the most that should've been dedicated to this.
@dogman7 I think it is meant to be used for gaming. Think of a third party X360 controller with touch screen that uses Smart Glass. There is a reason Smart Glass is a piece of software, not hardware. With this, MS can do what WiiU can do, and much more.
This article is perfect example of how brainless these so called "journalists" are. It's no Wii U controller, it is better. Why? Coz it is an APP, software, not some piece of hardware. I am sure lots of third parties will be interested in using Smart Glass to come up with their own enahnced versions of X360 controller. Heck, dont be surprised if "Smart Glass enabled controllers" become the next gold standard for Enhance/Ultimate/Collector's Editions. You're a gaming journalist, expand your mind. Think of what things can be, now what they are. You, Mr. Peter Brown, are a disgrace to gamers everywhere. But then, why am I not surprised. You do call yourself as "grew up on NES and unwavering love for retro and arcade games". That sounds like a Nintendo fanboy and someone who loves to live in the past.
And before anyone jumps on me, I've never owned an MS hardware, but even I can see how Smart Glass is even better than Wii U and PS Vita combined.
@ShonenNinja I agree, they did not focus on it being secondary controller, which was the best part of it all. They don't want to make controller, just made the app. So, others can come up with many different kinds of controllers leveraging this app.
Best part of conference: "have you ever wanted to control your Xbox through your phone and tablet while opening an oven from within your fridge...well we're not doing that we're here to talk about a game". I think next time MS should hire Stone and Parker [or just anyone] to riff on the very announcements they're making. It is a risky marketing strategy, but with lineup MS has [most of the times], it just might work very well. Most of this conference belonged in CES, not E3.
I think MS has managed to beat Nintendo this time around. Smart Glass... basically an app that can turn ANY tablet into a secondary controller. All it is missing is buttons and dual analog controls, which am sure many third party manufacturers will be happy to provide. Only thing that can make it better? Sony comes out with a similar app too and then you can make any tablet into a X360 or PS3 controller.
When was last time we had 2 Rockstar games in same year? I mean console, handhelds not counted. With GTAV, they don't really need to do any advertising actually. Just let the word out on release date, word of mouth will do all the advertising for them, game sites will do it for them. I mean, if you're a target audience for GTAV, you already know it is on the way. Know any gamer who doesn't know GTAV is coming?
