@CptRexKramer Dunno where exactly he got it from, but I remember Just Cause 2 dev mentioning only 18% finished story in that game. A good indicator can be to go any of achievement/trophy card sites and see what %ge got trophy/achievement for story completion, though they will skew more on higher side as anyone interested in cheevos enough to have a card will more likely go for completion of story.
@Forcecaster I think his point was that a good open world can make players ignore story so they would prefer spending more money and time on making open world fun than story.
@Doobsac @the_requiem That is what I do. I checked around with friends who loved Dead Island and ones who hated Dead Island. Consensus is: This is only for those who loved Dead Island. I made that comment coz your intention was not very clear to me. Now that you've mentioned it, I fully agree. Any sequel's review should carry reviewer's opinion of earlier franchises.
I think all those sinking hours and hours into Skyrim support his point. Quick show of hands: How many have logged in 100 hours into Skyrim but not finished the story? Only reason I finish story in open world games/RPGs is because story missions giev more XP and/or unlock powers [like inFamous etc.]
@Doobsac So you mean only opinion that matters is one with positive bias? Whatever happened to "if you liked first one you're a fanboy and your review is irrelevant"? Though I somewhat agree with your sentiment. A positive review from a hater and a negative review from a fanboy carry much more weight.
