@BeefoTheBold: That is a SATA drive in a custom case. Slow data rate (1 GB/s), USB interface, cheap chips, and none of the DirectX Ultimate tech developed by MS.

The Series S/X expansion card is NVME format, PCIe4.0 @ 2.4 GB/s data rate, and supports (or is supported by) DirectX Ultimate.

I bought one from Best Buy in December for $187, and it gives you a significant increase in headroom.

@ymo1965: That's weird. Sorry the purchase didn't go through for you. I ended up buying RE8 PC from greenmangaming, and Avengers from CDKeys.

Poor Judgement would be a good title for a sequel.

@ymo1965: Just checked Eneba, and the price is good there and cdkeys for base and deluxe. I am in-between a move and mid-build on a new PC (can't get a recent GPU these days). My current machine would run it fine, I'm just entertaining the Series X option as the performance would be close (plus hooked to OLED TV and sound system once those components are here).

Decisions, decisions.

I am trying to decide whether to go PC or Series X. This is why I appreciate concepts like PlayAnywhere and cross-saves.

I played Revelations, REmake2, REmake3, and RE VII on PC.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: Wow. You guys are incredibly critical. These movies require an immense effort and not everything will be near-perfectly planned out. I don't think many of you have the perspective to see how this genre has come, or the appreciation for it.

@USDevilDog: Some bought all the drifting DualSense controllers that could have plagued you, just as you spared others from drifting JoyCons. Therein we find balance.

@dirtydyk: Hardware is the endpoint of the delivery mechanism. You cut yourself off from tens of millions of customers and billions of potential customers if you don't have the pathway in place. It is in place and effective -- they are not going to pull the rug out from under themselves prematurely.

Not everyone has adequate internet, or would want to play on a phone, or put up with lag, or compromise any other part of the experience by removing a dedicated hardware renderer like a console or PC. Microsoft has made a huge monetary and engineering investment in refining their hardware platform.

The example Blockbuster or Gamefly is invalid because that is just media delivery. Storage. The media has to be rendered in a performant manner. Amazon has a Prime Video website, and they are multiple FireStick models, Fire Cube, and Fire tablets. One day they might be able to beam TV into a person's mind. That doesn't mean we toss TVs out the window because 50k people get the implant.

@s9743469: I don't know if that is accurate. A dev would "nerf" a PvE game if it is too easy as a result of unintentional factors. The results don't match the devs vision of the gameplay.

@Ice-Cube: I'm playing Pyromancer, and while there were some challenging battles (especially early on), the difficulty feels right. I play solo, don't farm, and only replayed the shopkeeper mission at the beginning. There are plenty of mods and a skills to get you through each scenario, you just have to pick the right ones to match your current strategy. Volcanic rounds are always set to my LB+RB slot.

To your last point, I don't find any game fun that isn't challenging.
