@lordbeefjerky: It wasn't on my radar, but I know a good many were looking forward to it, and while I agree the premise is (well, was) stupid, it definitely got points for originality.
@jonnyhollywood: Horizon Zero Dawn is another one, then there's God of War 4.
Can't help but feel MS was starting to do well with the release of the Xbox One S, Forza Horizon 3, and Gears 4 in terms of building some momentum with XB1 sales, but it's almost as if they're gearing up AGAIN for another hardware release with the Scorpio and letting games take a backseat.
We'll see, but I don't think they can afford another cancellation of a game. Scaelbound is kind of a big blow towards their lineup, especially with it supposedly being close to release and so many people looking forward to it.
@bigrob007: Mods have nothing to do with it, it's an issue with the game itself running in 4K. It was showing up before I installed and used mods.
It's such a common issue someone actually created a mod to fix it, but from what I understand the mod (as well as the fix I mentioned earlier) cause all new issues to pop up.
With 4K becoming more and more popular, I'm hoping this is an issue that will get an official patch.
My money is on MS knowing good and well the game would get cancelled but chose to wait until AFTER the holidays to announce it so they wouldn't lose any holiday sales.
Given the game was scheduled to release this year, I'm willing to bet a handful went out and bought an XB1 JUST for this game. I'm hearing comments all over the internet of people saying JUST THAT.
@bigrob007: It only sucks because it was free and now it isn't, not because I felt it would've changed my experience with the game in any way, and I totally get what you're saying in that it's a change mods can't fill in for with certain things, but is it THAT big a deal? Neh, I don't think so.
Curious, playing Skyrim in 4K, do you have the "Level Up" text stuck on your screen? A little research tells me it's a common issue running the game at high resolutions, as in it's not something that happens running the game in 1080p and 1440p. Luckily the text is rather small so it's not TOO distracting, but it's still stuck there and certainly sticks out like a sore thumb in dark areas like caves. From what I understand there's not a good fix for it, there is one that I've found, but it involves going into your Skyrim data folder and removing part of a file. From reports I've read it fixes the issue, but presents all new ones :/
@putaspongeon: Oh man, if they cancel Crackdown 3 that'll be another big blow, especially because they spoke so highly of it and it's use of Cloud Computing like its gonna be a game changer.
Seeing as how worthwhile 4K content is releasing at a trickling pace, I can't mainge 8K making a big impression any time soon for the average consumer. It'll take ungodly expensive hardware to run anything in 8K, no-one films movies in anything even close to 8K, and 4K has JUST now started to gain some kind of momentum, NO ONE will be willing to drop their current 4K set for an overly expensive 8K one.
8K won't be anywhere close to being mainstream any time soon.
