I agree with the poster above who said it may have been a flop in comparison to total sales of PS3 and XBox. Going by pure sales numbers, it probably was a flop.

However, I also agree that the Gamecube has some good exclusive games and I think it's as good as the other "128" consoles. Just didn't develop that same userbase due probably mostly to no online support and no DVD capabilities. Ultimately, I think it was really a pretty under-rated system. I know for a long time I never really gave it a chance but once I did, I enjoyed it.

Personally though, I had owned all 3 systems (ps2, Xbox and Gamecube) and for me, the Gamecube is the only system I still own and play.

I just completed RE 4 for the first time. Unlocked Mercenaries and the Ada Adventure.

Just wondering if there are any more unlockables if you go through the game a second time. I'll probably play through it again anyways but just was curious if there arwe any more surprises or if this is it.

Thanks.

My thinking is that game game basically looks like Mart Kart...only with soccer instead of cars. However from reviews I've read, basically it sounds like the unlockables aren't as good MK and maybe not as much variety as expected with specific characters and fields.

But it still looks like it could be a fun game to team up with my daughter on and play. I do figure she'll get the hang of it....she's picking up Mario Kart pretty well.

And being that she's just started playing soccer, I'm thinking it might help her learn at least a little about the game in general in terms of passing and shooting. If you've ever watched 6-7 year olds play soccer, they basically hoard around the ball like ants on a crumb of bread. Thinking this game might help her see the need for passing and spacing a little bit.

Then again, maybe it won't.....

I've read the Gamespot review of the game and the review seemed to be lukewarm. Have read other reviews also from some other sites. Wanted to get some feedback from a few in the forum that have played.

First, I'll say that basically I'm looking a fun, multiplayer game. My daughter just started playing soccer herself (she's 7) so I figured this game might be fun for us to play. We've had alot of fun playing Mario Kart DD cooperatively. The action might be a little fast for her to handle in the soccer game, but my thinking is that we'll probably play cooperatively most of the time (until she gets the hang of it).

From alot of the reviews I've read, generally it seems like alot of the user reviews are pretty positive. Seems like people enjoy the multiplayer aspect of the game and that it's just not a very deep single player game.

Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the game in general.

Think I'm gonna go with that then. Probably can find it relatively cheap.

Really just want an arcade type soccer game. She's just started playing soccer herself so just figure it might be something she'd enjoy trying to play.

Thanks for the input.

Looking to pick up and "arcade" style soccer game that I can play with my daughter (age 7).

Initially, I was leaning toward Mario Strikers. My daughter has really been enjoying Mario Kart DD and Mario Sunshine. So was thinking Mario Strikers might be a logical choice.

But then I was reading reviews on Gamespot and Sega Soccer Slam comes more highly recommended.

Just wondering if naybody out there has thoughts on either of these two games. I don't really know much about either one.

I realize the Fifa series of games might be better overall soccer sims....but I'm really looking for an arcade style game that will be fun to just sit down and play either with my daughter on the same team or against her.

Appreciate any thoughts.

THANKS

Just like to say thanks to everyone that suggested Mario DD.

It's been the perfect game for my daughter and I. Idrive and she has a blast running the back passenger and controlling the power ups. And it's been fairly challenging in single player mode, especially at 150cc. Not to mention it's been a blast playing with 3 players.

Still may give FZero or Burnout 2 a look at some pointas well.....probably leaning toward burnout 2.

This is an easy one....

How about Resident Evil 4?  Don't see that on your list.....a game that many would argue is the best game available on the Cube.

I bought the s-video directly from Nintendo for about $15.00.  I wouldn't bother with non-Nintendo cables.  I tried a cable from Radio Shack and the Nintendo one looked better plus you didn't have extra unused extensions flapping about.

The difference isn't that spectacular.  It's cripser and more colourful but you can live without it if you must.

I'm glad I got it and would recommend it if you can afford it for the simple reason that if you can make your games look better one iota, why wouldn't you?

I tend to agree.  I bought a "generic" S-video cable thinking that basically all S-Video cables are created equal.  And I actually liked my picture alot better without the S-Video cable.

Maybe the results would be different with a higher quality cable like the Monster cable or Nintendo brand.  But I'm pretty happy with the regular Gamecube cable.

I think the disc size/shape and no DVD support was a big factor.

The Gamecube came out at a time when DVD's were really starting to hit it big and when people were looking for a gaming system to do more than just play games.  Everybody wanted something that could play DVD movies and also get online.

I think Nintendo was just not as responsive to the marketplace as Sony and Microsoft.  They tried to just create a solid gaming system that would appeal to people who still just wanted to sit in their homes and play games with their buddies.  Obviously, most of the marketplace wanted more than just a good gaming system.

Don't get me wrong, I personally just bought a Gamecube because that is all I wanted (and maybe because the price is dirt cheap).  But it's suiting my needs perfectly right now.  Just wanted something to sit in my basement and play with my kids.  And I've gotten a ton of enjoyment out of this system in the past month or so.

Overall, just don't think the system was as "forward-thinking" as the competition and people shyed away from it since the perception was that it wouldn't be as future-friendly.
