I went with Double Dash.  Gotta remember that I'm looking for something that will appeal to my 6 year old daughter.  Really just looking for something that both of us can sit down and play together at the same time.

I have played Burnout and do like the game.  Although I kinda got bored with the crashes after awhile.

Really just want a fun-type arcade style racing game and I'm hoping MKDD fits the bill.  I don't think my daughter would care at all about the "normal" car racing games or probably even Extreme Racing or F Zero.  And personally, I really don't play racing games much on my own.

Hoping Mario DD will give us some fun multi-player action.  Just bought for $14 on ebay.....

Appreciate all the opinions though.  THANKS

I agree that it's not dead.

It may be somehat on life support in that it won't see alot of new games coming to it....however, I think it can hang on for awhile in terms of providing a source of cheap entertainment.

I just bought my first gamecube earlier this week.  Wanted to get something to entertain me a little without having to shell out $600-$800 in hardware/games for a next gen system.  I've picked up a gamecube, 2 controllers, RE4, Mario Sunshine, Rogue Squadron 2, Mario Double Dash for about a total cost of $80.  I feel like it's a pretty cheap form of entertainment and a great bang for my buck.  Heck, $80 would barely buy me a second controller and a game for a next-gen system.

I'm excitied about check out more games for the gamecube as well.  Trying to read alot of reviews and get the "best" games.

So I don't consider it dead.....it's got alot of lfe left for me.  And honestly, I could care less if they make any more games for it.  There are a ton of games out there for it.  And it does sound like at least Madden will have 1 more year coming on the Gamecube.

Think I'm gonna give DD a look.  I've read some so-so reviews on it, but most of them were only down on the game because it didn't really expand much from SNES version.  Well....I never played that version so it'll all be new to me.

For a single player racing game, I think personally I might like Nascar 05 or Burnout 2 a little more....but I really want something that might be fun for my 6 year old daughter to try playing and I think that game is probably gonna be more up her alley.  She's been playing Mario games on her Gameboy so it'll probably catch her attention more than racing in a cirlce with Nascar or crashing every 10 seconds in Burnout.

Does the Gameboy player work with Gameboy Advanced SP games also?  I actually wasn't even aware of that but my daughter has quite a few gamebody games that would be neat to have on the TV.  Might have to investigate that.

Have to agree on the price.  Think it will serve me well for a couple years at an unbeatable price.  And considering I haven't played any games for the system, I'll have awhile to go before I get sick of them.

Looking forward to diving into RE 4 when it arrives....

In that case, I'll probably just wait for 2008 unless I hear it's been cancelled....

I've seen the article on EA's website that talks about Vince Young being on the cover and it does mention in that article that they were planning to make Madden available for the Gamecube.

However, when you go to the "pre-order" link on EA's site, the Gamecube version is not listed for a choice.

So now i'm wondering if they really will offer up Madden 2008 on the GC or if they may decide not to.

I had never bought Madden 2007 for the Gamecube.  Just trying to decide if I should pick up Madden 2007 at a cheap price or wait for Madden 2008.  May not be anything to wait for though if it isn't coming....

Looking to pick up a racing game for the Gamecube.  Just want something that will make for some fun multi-player races, while also providing some good single-player entertainment.

Been looking at games like Wave Race, Mario DD, Nascar 2005, Burnout 2.  Just can't seem to decide.

My daughter is only 6 so thinking she'd probably be more intrigued by Mario DD.  But I'll admit I'm not too sure about what goes on in that game.  Have only read a couple reviews about it.

Had previously played Nascar 2003 and liked that game.  Eventually, it got a little boring going in circles though.

Burnout 2 looks like a fun game with some wicked crashes...not sure if it's a multi-player game though and if you can really race against somebody.  Trying to get in accidents seems like it kinda defeats the purpose of racing somebody.

Thought wave race also looked a little interesting...

Just looking for some input for racing games that have good replay value and would be entertaining.  Open to suggestions.

Guess it depends on dollars you want to spend.  It's easy to say just get a Wii.....but I personally just bought a Gamecube myself.  Got a Gamecube, RE4, Rogue Squadron, Mario Sunshine, NBA Live 06 for about $60.  All that for about the cost of just 1 new game on the "next-gen" systems.

I'm not a hard-core gamer.  Just wanted something to play with my 6 year old and get a little enjoyment out of without having to break the bank.  I think I'm gonna get alot of mileage of out the $60 I just spent.  Granted, it's not the next best thing....but these games will hold me over for awhile.  And there are probably quite a few other games I'll be able to get for dirt cheap.  Heck, we've been playing my old 8 bit NES so the Gamecube will probably feel like a next-gen system to me.

I spent alot of time debating before buying and feel like I made a good choice.  Isn't like it's a huge risk spending only $60 for a pretty good bundle.  $600 or $800 would be a different story though.

Anybody know for a fact that Madden 2008 is coming to Gamecube?  I did see the article at EA but one thing that concerns me is that if you go to the pre-order section on the EA website, the Gamecube version is not listed as an option to pre-order.....?

On a side note, I know I'm probably lame....but I just bought a Gamecube (Ebay $20...! And came with Mario Sunshine).  Also bought Resident Evil 4 and Rouge Squadron each for $7.  I know I'm about 5 years too late but just looking for something to entertain me and my 6 year old for awhile and just couldn't justify spending $600-$800 on one of the new systems.  Gamecube will probably seem like a huge upgrade next to the old 8 bit NES we've been playing :)

Really want Madden 2008....but will just get 2007 for probably $10 if it isn't coming to the Gamecube.
