Resident Evil 4 is the first game i've played in this series and it's really awesome.  By far the best action/shooter game I've ever played on a console.

So now I'm thinking about checking out another game in the series.  Thinking maybe RE 1 (Remake).

Anybody else out there started with playing #4 first and then also found out they really enjoyed #1?  Or is it going to be a letdown going back to #1 after playing 4?

I've been reading reviews and I've seen where lots of people point out that the two are different games.  Part of me thinks though that even if #1 is half as good as #4, it would still be better than 90% of the other games out there.

Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts.  Especially those who played #4 first and then went backwards to the others.

Thanks.

Really appreciate all the thoughts.

Only hesitation on Paper Mario is that I really don't care for role-playing games.  For example, I normally like almost every Star Wars game...but I hated Knights of the Old Republic.  I really have liked all the Mario traditonal scrolling platform games but just not sure I'd get into Paper Mario.  It seems like I might like some of it but also not like some of it.

Resident Evil 1 is a strong possibility.....Metal Gear is also something I hadn't even given any thought to.

And I'm still giving some consideration to Super Smash Melee.  Not big on fighting games but it still might be fun playing and it looks like it could be something that has good replay value.

A couple weeks ago, I was debating between a PS3 and and Xbox 360.......then decided on a Gamecube.  Picked up one on Ebay along with 5 games, extra controller, memory card, etc for about $90.  I've really enjoyed it.  Just decided I ddin't want to spend upwards of $1,000 by the time you buy all the accessories and games.  I think you can get a heck of alot of entertainment out of the Cube without hardly any financial outlay.

I'd say go for the Cube games.  Comes back to the PS3 when the price drops $300.

Just got my Gamecube a couple weeks ago.  Picked up a system and some games for a great price and have been really enjoying it.  I know I'm a little late (alot late) but better late than never.

Games I currently have are Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart DD, Resident Evil 4 and Rogue Squadron II.  These games are all fantastic.  Me and my six year old daughter have been having a blast with both Mario games and I've really, really enjoyed RE 4 and Rogue Squadron.  These 4 games are really some of the best I've ever played on a console.

Been doing some research and really not sure what direction to go in next and hoping some people that have played alot of games on the cube might be able to give me some solid recommendations.  I know what some of the higher rated games are based upon Gamespot rankings, but sometimes it's just better to hear it from another source.

Generally, I'm not a real big fan of role-playing games.  I've been looking hard at Paper Mario TYD because both me and my daughter are Mario fans, but just not sure I would like it if it's a heavy role-playing game.  By the same token, been looknig at Super Smash Bros Melee, but also just not sure since I'm not a big fighting game fan either (ala Mortal Kombat).  And not sure if my daughter would really get into the fighting aspects.

Have looked at Metroid Prime....kinda on the fence.  Sorta reminds me of Halo and I honestly didn't care for Halo much.  Not big on Sci-Fi shooters beyond Star Wars.

Have thought about Eternal Darkness....just don't know too much about the game.  Sounds a little weird...I do like horror genre games though.  Have also been thinking about Resident Evil Remake but I'm afraid it may be a letdown after playing RE 4.

Generally, games I've had on systems are sports related (Madden, NBA Live, etc).  I'm definately getting Madden 08 when/if it comes and i'll probably pick up NBA Live 06.

I'm generally pretty picky when it comes to adventure/plaform/shooter games.  I've pretty much stuck with the Mario platform games and Star Wars games as the only adventure/platform games I've bought.  Resident Evil 4 did blow me away though.

Just wondering if anybody has any other games they think I should look at based upon what I've said....either for just me or something for both me and my daughter.  Maybe my thoughts about Paper Mario or Melee are wrong....Or I'm open to checking out any other games.

Really appreciate the thoughts.

I'm a new Gamecube owner and just picked up RE4.  Game is really awesome.  Generally, my thing on video games has always been sports games.  I usually just don't have the time or attention span to sit through adventure games.  But I really have to hand it to this game.  I've been intrigued by it.

So now I'm thinking about what to buy next.  Are any of the other Resident Evil games clsoe to #4 in quality?  Been reading the reviews but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed going back to one of the other games after starting with #4.  Thinking probably either RE0 or RE1 would be the choice but not sure.

Or maybe there is another game I should check out?  Been reading reviews of Eternal Darkness but not sure about that.  I really generally don't like role-playing type games and it sounds like it might have some role-playing elements.  Maybe I'm wrong....

Was really just wondering if any of the other Resident Evil games can hold a torch to #4 and if so, which one?  Just trying to decide if I should check out any of the other games in the series or not press my luck and just be happy with 4.  Not sure it can get any better.....

Thanks.

Above is link to pre-order site on EA Sports.  I just find it suspicious that the Gamecube is the only platform not included.

I sure hope it does.....

I'm just a little perplexed.  I've seen quite a few sites taking pre-orders for Madden 2008 and none of them are pre-ordering for the Gamecube.  I've seen PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and original Xbox.

Seems a little odd that they would offer it for the XBox and PS2 and not offer it for the Gamecube......

I have e-mailed EA sports twice and both times I've gotten responses saying that they were unable to provide any specific information at this time.  Don't know what the big secret is....they are either making it for Gamecube or they aren't.....

I had saw that page....IGN has a similar page.

Don't think that confirms it though.

I've seen the article that talks about Vince Young on EA Sports' website and they do mention in it that it would be available on Gamecube.

However, I haven't seen anything concrete anywhere else and I've seen a couple sites taking pre-orders for the game and none of them have the Gamecube listed as an available choice.  I've also noticed at EA's web site that they have Madden 2008 forums for XBox360, PS3, PS2, Wii...but not one for the Gamecube.

So starting to really question if it will be available.

I honestly didn't think it would be and I know the Gamecube is basically an after-thought now.

I'd just like to know though so I can make alternate plans.  Would appreciate it if anybody has concrete info one way or the other.

THANKS

I e-mailed EA Sports customer service and basically got a generic canned response that didn't shed any light on it.  Don't know why that can't just answer the darn question.

Still trying to decide if I should wait and hope that Madden 2008 comes for Gamecube or just get 2007 for $10-$15....
