Because they don't last more than three years. Define "Last". Playing game on at least medium/high at decent resolutions. Obviously don't be put off getting a gaming pc. Once you go gaming pc, you'll see all kinds of advantages in having one. Also, new consoles were meant to come out 2011, but thats been extended a bit now that we know this gen is lasting longer, so expect new consoles maybe 2012/13. Think about it. you have to buy a whole new console every 4/5 years typically.

Btw you get a small performance increase from 2GB to 4GB. But performance increases happening from 4GB --> 6+ GB won't happen for many years.

So at the end of lets say 3 years I would start to have to run my computer on med settings.At the end of 5 years all I would have to do is upgrade certain parts to get back at max settings is that correct?

I'm a bit iffy about this, as many of the games seen on the PC market are console ports, and consoles don't magically upgrade.

That being said, a PC that maxed out console ports at a specified resolution 3 years ago should be able to run newer console games maxed at the same resolution.

Unless you run out of memory while gaming, the memory amount doesn't affect gameplay. To put it short, it you don't run out of memory with 4GB in your system, adding another 4GB will not help.

This is all new to me so I apologize,Is 6gb of ram usually enough?Why would I run out of memory If I would only play one game at a time?

Mouse aiming gives you far more fine movement adjustment than a controller. With a mouse, the amount of movement tends to determine the amount of aiming - little movements tend to meke your character's view change a little, while big movements tend to make your character's view change a lot. Just like moving the mouse around the desktop.

While playing L4D2 with my wired control, it was like I had to fight to get it to aim where I had intended, but if I move the mouse, it tends to aim exactly where I intend, with less adjustment. At least in my experience, the controller is either overly sensitive with big movements and not sensitive enough with small movements.

Generally when people say rigs don't last 3 years, they generally mean the computer will be unable to play games at the same settings (for instance at max settings) for the upcoming games three years from now because computer components become obsolete to new and better products on the market because games quickly take advantage of these new products by improving their graphics, which requires more power, in their upcoming games.Luminouslight

Don't buy a 360, buy a 360 wired controller :)

I just played it with my wired controller and it worked just fine. I'm currently on Windows 7 and actually just had another game update this morning. When I first started playing the game (as Coach at the time) I could barely move, so I hit A, which stood him up and I was able to move around fine. With the control enabled, I could not use the keyboard to move, yet I could use the mouse to look around.

That said, I'm curious as to why you want to play any fps game on the PC with a controller. I use my wired 360 controller for everything but fps games. But that's not your problem.

Im new to Pc gaming why would you use a mouse and arrows over a controler what am I missing?
