probably a sony fanboy site - ps3 only seems to sell well in the EU, I'm thinking that the site is either in Germany, Spain or Italy where most cows seem to be located. Must be the EU agricultural subsidies fostering a cow explosion there.

at least with this 8.5 score it shows gamespot isn't displaying any bias like cows and wii fanatics keep saying. I say the xbox 360 has already got an excellent library (far more AAA's than the wii or ps3) and the score was fair.

I'm getting sick and tired of how people measure the lenght of a game - game review sites stipulate a game has 20 hrs of play if you manically try to get to the end of objective of the level and explore nothing more - what the hell? most games have extra side quests, different endings based on gaming choices as well as side objectives - these SHOULD be included in the total gameplay. If idiots continue to do disregard all of the extra content stating a game is X hours, maybe game developers should stop side objectives and force gamers to complete ALL objectives to actually finish the game. It would mean lower quality games but at least all the idiots here would be happy.

1. wii
2. xbox 360
3. ps3

Now for the reasons : Wii will mainatin its lead in Japan, USA and europe just as it has in 07 because it will always have a price advantage - hence more scope to discount when the others drop their price (this for me is the biggest reason it is winning right now just as the DS beat out the vastly superior psp).

Xbox 360 is clearly more popular than ps3 in the usa outselling it approximatley 5:1 for the past few months - ms can and probably will drop the price if the ps3 closes the gap. In Europe, total sales (i mean all across europe and not just italy, france and spain) are similar beween 360 and ps3. Also sony has revealed it is taking a massive hit for each ps3 even with the 65nm manufacturing process it is losing over $USD100 and so won't be able to drop their price for quite some time - meantime xbox 360 is almost breaking even per console and the fact is that halo profits will spill over to the next quarter. I expect M$ to drop the price if sony catches up - they didn't burden themselves with the cost of adding hd dvd like sony did with bluray so they can afford to do so whereas sony cannot - this will probably happen in the 2nd quarter.

With GTA 4 on both PS3 and xbox 360, there is no reason for ppl to pick up a ps3 over the 360 - this is a FAR bigger game than MGS and FF combined - those games are more important in Japan and M$ could come out with Gears 2 which would flatten those games in the USA. There is little doubt the MAJOR reason for the ps2 winning was the one year advantage in the release of GTA San Andreas- it was the biggest game of the lst generation by far eclipsing total sales of FFX, Tekken and MGS combined. I know of many people who weren't even aware it was available on xbox even after it came out on xbox - that one year was critical and sony doesn't have that now.

the wii has plenty of crap games so i thik the arguent is over. There is also one game that almost everyone wants which will not come to the Wii - Grand theft Auto 4. Once that arrives, expect the wii's dominance in US/EU to wane significantly.

What I've noticed:

List of Sony fanboy territories:

  • Italy
  • Spain
  • The rest of the PAL world outside of the ones I'm gonna list soon.
  • Smaller European areas (Ukraine, Serbia, Romania)

List of Nintendo fanboy territories:

  • France
  • Gemrany
  • UK (not "fanboy" but pro-Nintendo)

List of pro-Microsoft (not fanboy) territories:

  • UK
  • Australia

Cristallis

you could add USA to the pro-microsoft camp

I live in the UK, and I bought a PS3 over the summer.

I bought itfor upcoming exclusives like MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII and Killzone 2.

I also wanted to play Resistance, because my mates were constantly talking about it.

therealmcc0y

so you bought it on anticipation of the games to come - I've heard this before but once again it makes little sense. Why not buy it when those games come out, the price may actually drop further when they come out. Moreover, there is no gaurantee those games wil be as good as the orginals, they may actually suck like Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction.Lastly, there have been rumblings out of Konami that MGS4 may be released for other systems, the same may go for Final Fantasy as Square is notorious for supporting the market leader.

The ps3 sells better in europe vs xbox 360 compared to USA sales but it makes absolutely no sense at all. Firstly, it has no AAA games and the games that are any good on the system are multiplats which run at a slower framerate on the ps3 (and generally rushed inferior ports). Secondly, even with the pricedrop its still more expensive than the 360. With so many good games already on the 360 and the fact that sony itslef has admitted the first 5 million ps3's will sell even if few games are available it just makes no sense to me why europeans love the ps3 (must be brand loyalty and the fact they like getting ripped off).

ps3 will sell well in cowland (Europe), but i think that as most devs are in the US and as they tend to focus on US sales, Europe will come around in the end. The only thing that is holding MS back is the core which virtyually no one is buying.
