I think they've got it - they are number one in all three territories (see vgchartz.com) and preorders for mario galaxy are looking good (ranked 7th on amazon.com and wii is ranked 3rd). I agree that the hardware is clearly inferior and doesn't offer a better power/cost ratio compared to 360 and the ps3, which is a travesty since most people will buy it over those 2 machines due to the price advantage.
As for sony they'll have a sales boost from the price cut but software wise, the machine sux. Microsoft, on the other hand, have the games but they need to drop the price and stop making so many damn SKU's - the core needs to go and the pro needs to drop by $US50 if they ever want to challenge the Wii.I think they have some scope to do this with the introduction of the falcon 65nm bringing costs down, however they took a major hit with the RROD debacle (and rightly so) so they are reluctant to drop the price and instead seem to have opted for a game bundling proposition. This is ABSOLUTELY STUIPID. Microsoft think they can challenge the wii with the core but its clearly being shunned, they'll never win this war if they continue down that path. I'm predicting that Ms and sony will finish equal second in the end with the wii on top.
