Moria Mines

Okay, now I know I am definitely an incurable RPG fanatic. While watching LOTR, the part where the Fellowship enter the Mines of Moria with all the dead dwarves (and all that lovely armour and loot lying for the taking), I'm saying "pick up the loot you fools, pick up the loot"! Yup, probably need therapy.

Critically Conquered

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Kotor Dark Side, finally finished! Break out the beer, I'll send over the munchies! I can hardly believe it, and in record time too (33 hours). Phew......

It was certainly a very different experience on the Dark Side, though I seemed to max out on Dark Side points earlier than I expected. Probably because I killed everything in sight (almost!). Some of the Dark Force Powers were good, I particularly liked Force Lightning.

My only complaint is that when playing the Dark Side the storyline just doesn't ring true. You turn to the Dark Side, kill off innocents, civilians and even family members and the rest of the group pitch in to help (I think not!). Hopefully this issue won't return in KOTOR II, and I would even consider going Dark for that as well.

This was my 9th run through, and I really feel I have now done and seen everything there is to see and do in KOTOR I. I am retiring the game honourably to my "Played" shelf!

KOTOR II here I come! :D

Playing Playstation

I am now the proud owner of a slimline PS2 (pauses to gaze fondly over at the PS2).

I have decided to start with Kingdom Hearts, and I can only describe it as "enchanting", this is one journey I am really going to enjoy! Haven't got very far yet as I am still working my way through the controls. It scared the life out of me when it started to vibrate, I swear I was halfway through the ceiling. This will definitely take some getting used to! Anyone care to voice an opinion on the memory stick thing. I have one, and even though LOTR The Third Age is sitting on my shelf, I think I will be playing my PS games one at a time instead of my usual 3 or so chop and change style on the PC. So, is one memory stick enough, is it better to have a different one for every game, or perhaps every player has their own? Any advice welcome! :)

Dreary December

Dreary December and it's still November! My December 'dip' usually occurs at the end of December, those pagans certainly knew what they were doing having a Midwinter Feast to cheer everyone up didn't they? Lots of reasons why it's early this year, November rain, Dark Side conspiracy, no new games to play, hell I could go on all day. Probably the main reason though is that on top of everything else I was kind of hit harder than I expected by the death last week of a distant but well-loved relative. He was old, been ill for a while, so it wasn't such a shock. Just given me pause for reflection, to consider the meaning of life, the universe and everything. So.... I think I'm taking a few days to re-evaluate and re-energise.......

Enjoy the weekend!

Next week's forthcoming attractions - Playing Playstation (hopefully) and Ridiculous Rhyming - in the continuing saga of Sinterklaas (oh no, not another Sinterklaas story!).................'Til next week! :)

Soon Sinterklaas.....

Ooh, I'm feeling all tingly, less than 2 weeks to Sinterklaas and my Playstation. I've already decided which games I'm trying first. LOTR The Third Age is top of my list, but Kingdom Hearts looks good too, and there are many more to try. In fact I may not even notice that ITS ANOTHER 3 MONTHS before KOTOR II will be out..... maybe.......

Trembling Trauma

Just spent a morning session turning to the Dark Side, it's not as easy as it sounds. Long breaks in between sessions seem to be the answer. I'll need serious therapy this evening. Don't think "Shrek" or "While You Were Sleeping" will work. It's time for the really serious stuff, so..... "Sound of Music" it is!!

Force Fling

While waiting for the Bloodlines patch, I have decided to finally face the challenge of KOTOR the Dark Side!

This is going to take some monumental will power on my part, so maybe I should start with just say 1 hour of gameplay a day and gradually build up from there. First of all some meditation (on with the Enya CD) followed by some revving up (Lenny Kravitz or Metallica should do nicely) and then Ride of the Valkyrie (Attack!!!)

Of course killing everybody in sight apart from adding to my Dark Side points, should considerably lessen game time; there will be nobody left to give me quests!

Light Side good, DARK SIDE BETTER!......... Light Side good, DARK SIDE BETTER!.................

Vampire Voodoo

It's been a little thin on the ground with RPGs this year, so when I heard I could collect Bloodlines on Saturday, I was feeling kind of cheery...... until I read the forums today, everyone is complaining about how buggy it is, it's so bad no-one is playing until they bring out a patch. So basically, I'll be going along like a good little customer to collect my ordered copy, then I will bring it home, frame it and wait for the patch...whenever..... :(

The next RPGs due out have all been pushed back to Q1-2005, so I guess it's back to KOTOR for that 9th run, and I really do mean to try the Dark Side this time.... honestly....:)
