@ZIMdoom: "I honestly would rather pay for a game up front and not deal with what feels like cheating."
Exactly. I used to look down on mobile games and think there was no way I'd pay to play them. Then I started playing games like Hearthstone and Heavenstrike Rivals on my breaks at work and really enjoyed them. I've sort of adopted the policy that If I do Like a FTP game I will allow myself to spend $10- $20 on it as if I had paid upfront. Going beyond that though is just silly IMO. However, people do go way beyond that and those people really ruin the game.
@darksouls: What? This comment? Or clicking on and reading an article about something you're not interested in just so you pass judgement about a person who will never know or care about you?
@frank_castle: I think you're focusing on the playing a video game part too much. It's not about the destination but the journey...(cliche I know) But the kid is going on an adventure, traveling, meeting new people, making experiences. These things have enriched many lives and he's making a great decision to pursue them. He's got a long time to think about starting a family (or not starting a family) and finding a non-crap job he doesn't hate. The video game is just the catalyst, the excuse to give himself momentum and do something different with a life he clearly wasn't satisfied with. I'm sure he'll find his way to contribute to the world just fine.
