Played and beat Gears of war in one sitting. That was also when I just got my 360 back from a 2-3 week rrod repair from MS. Being without a console for 3 weeks probably was the reason.

LOL, making up for lost time huh?

Alan Wake

Alan wake... now that's a game you don't usually hear cited when people discuss what got them/would get them to buy a console. Interesting. You loved it that much huh?

Not exactly sure on the time, but I've got a few crazy ones.

When Super Street Fighter II came out on SNES, my buddy and I sat there playing it for so long that when I stood up, I fainted.

When MGS2 came out I pulled an all nighter and beat the game in one push. I remember it being extra weird because that section towards the end where Campbell is all like "turn off the game console" lol. That might have been about a 15 hour run.

When I was about 14 I had the brilliant idea of playing Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6, and Super Mario RPG, all for the first time at the same time lol. Not really a single sitting thing, but that was a brutal 3 weeks.

I've had countless 8-10 hour binges, especially with the Final Fantasy and Zelda games back in the day.

Loved how they broke the 4th wall like that. I remember thinking you had to somehow turn off the console to advance, kind of like a moment in the 1st where Psycho Mantis read your memory card.

Playing many games, probably 12 hours before I passed out. Was at a party with a bunch of friends and we stayed up most the night.

Playing a single game... when Uncharted Drake's Fortune launched. My wife took our kiddo to her mom's house for the day and I sat for 8-9 hours only breaking for a quick snack or bathroom break. Completed it in one shot. Great game.

Gotta capitalize on moments like this lol. ;)

What's the longest you have ever sat there playing a game?

For me, damn, I have to go all the way back to my Nintendo/Sega Genesis days. There was no save features for most of those games. Back then, if you wanted to see the end credits for a game you had to hunker down and basically live like a hermit (or freak depending on you point of view.) until you were done.

Every once and a while you would come across a game like Zelda that had save files built in or some other method of continuation like inputting a password but those games were the exception rather than the norm.

Personally speaking, I think the most time I ever spent was playing a game nonstop was from around 6 AM until 3 AM the following morning. I know that may seem "light" when compared to some of the experts out there. I've heard of some incredibly long marathons that last weeks for certain games. That "Desert Bus" game/simulator comes to mind.

Damn. Thought I had you ;)

Yeah, I was kind of in disbelief myself.

Surely you are a Shenmue 3 backer though, correct?

Did you freak out when they announced it at E3? Wait a minute... were you the guy in the crowd who got up and freaked out in disbelief at 1:44? ;)

@360ru13r: Street fighter is another franchise that would reeeaaaally make me reconsider if it suddenly went exclusive to a console I didn't own. That's also a big thing to take into account when you realize that the entire street fighter competitive community is now console/pc exclusive (at least in regards to Street fighter 5.).

What videogame/videogame franchise would make you buy a new console if it was/became exclusive to that console?

Ex: For myself, I bought a PS3 back in the day when Metal Gear solid 4 launched (the limited edition bundle.). I didn’t care what other games were on it at the time, I just needed my Metal Gear fix lol.

I would imagine if they made a Metal Gear solid 6 (and the Kojima-KONAMI wars never happened.) I would probably do the same if the situation presented itself.

I know some people feel the same about franchises like Uncharted, Gears of war/Halo, or Zelda.

Anyone got any crazy stories of games that made you buy a console regardless of what else was on that system?

So I went to pre-order a copy of Resident evil 7 and noticed they have a Deluxe edition in addition to that ridiculous collector’s edition that I’m sure a few of you have already heard about.

Much like the game itself the Deluxe edition has been shrouded in mystery and having read the contents it left me with more questions than I had going in.

From what I gather it gives you some kind of “survival pak” and 3/4 added story DLC levels not in the game. I’m wondering if these added levels are kind of like the demo or something entirely different, perhaps something pertaining to the actual game itself.

The way it is subtly talked about it almost makes me wonder if this is some kind of season pass (Oh NO! right?) rather than something included on the disc or even a download digital code you can use day 1.

Anyone know anything?
