FPS design evolved (well..it did untill recently at least), ID just never was capable of following. lol, even today deathmatch maps arent as good as old quake games the flow is not as fun. if the same team's who made doom 93/quake 1/quake 2were still making games we'd have better games today. doom3 i love that game though, i grew up playing doom man i felt like some satanic child playing doom LOL because of all the crazy demonic crap. doom3 didnt feel as like dark as doom 93, and i missed gibbing of the demon who doesnt like blowng someone up into tiny pieces ?[QUOTE="videogamesdead8"]hell even if john romero was back at idsoftware the games would be more dark/moody like doom 93 or even quake 1 was, doom 3 would of been better lol level design probley would of been cooler. john romero didnt work on quake 2 he left after working on quake 1, but the quake 2 team was good it was them working together made them make kick ass stuff same with other. neither doom 93/quake 2 line team exist in current form at idsoftware, probley have better games today.AdrianWerner
[QUOTE="videogamesdead8"]john carmack doesnt make the games people, john carmack makes the engine/tools the teams at idsoftware use to create games. i wish alot of the quake 2 mappers were still there.AdrianWerner
he makes the engine and handles programming, both are integral part of any game. You just as well say nobody makes games. Mappers make maps, artists make art, designers make design sheets etc
lol you make a game with a graphics engine which john carmack makes, but without the mappers/modelers there is no game just the sdk.
