I didn't mind the puzzles but they didn't really stand out Either.

Hogwarts probably had better puzzles for a recent AAA game, though they got super repetitive in the side content.

I recently played through Entropy Centre, now there is a game with good puzzles

I feel like part of the reason console versions of games are often perceived to launch in a better state, is the standards are lower.

IMO, not being able to play a game at smooth 60+fps is unacceptable for modern gaming, regardless of the platform. lots of console games don't hit that mark these days and are perceived as "fine." previously a consistent 30fps was seen as a good console version. and its still seen as acceptable for "Quality" mode.

that is poverty gaming. I'm happy to wait for patches if it means I get to play games at a good frame rate without visual compromise. (though i'd much rather devs take the time to polish and optimize their games, even if it means delaying the PC version)

hopefully they learned their lesson about using Iron Galaxy. how that studio continues to get work with porting games is beyond me

They did the God of War port which was very good. Blame Sony for rushing them and not letting them finish their work.

ah I didn't know that - I was just remembering their Arkham Knight port and getting PTSD

RE4 Remake is the last game I finished.

since then, I got most of the way through dredge, but kinda lost interest. might go back and finish it if I want something chill to play.

I was going to pick up Jedi, but decided to start a Cyberpunk replay while waiting for patches, since I haven't played it since launch. so far, I haven't noticed much difference apart from it running better on a new PC, but I'm not very far in. still encountering bugs pretty often.

A couple random ones:

Mass Effect Andromeda: Maybe "mixed" is generous since most people hated it, but I had a good time overall with Mass Effect Andromeda. the main story and most of the characters in your squad were definitely underwhelming - and those were huge parts of what made the original games popular. But I enjoyed the combat and how the game was structured, exploring those 5 or so planets. Its best content was in the side quests on those planets and if you mainlined the story, I can see how it'd be a bad experience.

Warhammer 40k Darktide: this game got "hammered" from a lot of people due to its lack of crafting on launch, dumb method of acquiring new gear and early introduction of a real-money cosmetic shop when other features were missing. However, I still dug it due to the actual gameplay and atmosphere being really awesome. stopped playing for now, but i'm looking forward to getting back into it with updates.

The takeaway here is stop pre-ordering games and buying games day one. Do not give these companies money until the game is complete and they actually deserve it. It doesn't make any sense to buy games at launch. You are paying the most money for the worst version of a game. Seriously, think about that and you will realize it is just a dumb thing to do.

the sad thing is, because its Star Wars, there will be lots of casual fans who will buy it and put up with the terrible performance because they don't know any better.

so they will almost certainly get away with it sales-wise

lol 30 fps with dips.

yea I no longer consider this a playable frame rate.

will wait for the eventual PC release, then subsequent patches to fix the fucked up performance, then get the graphics and frame rate

man, even with post-patch performance, this sounds like the biggest performance mess in recent memory (and there have been a lot of messes lately).

this is like Arkham Knights levels of terrible performance.

at least the other recent messes supported DLSS which does a lot to make up for shit optimization.

was looking forward to this, but now way i'm touching it until its got more patches there are reliable reports suggesting the performance and audio bugs are sorted

So, apparently, it's been fixed? Performance isn't great and we're yet to see the open areas but it's much better now.

Well, the game isn't officially out until tomorrow so let's wait a bit.

first i've seen of the post-patch performance, thats encouraging at least. big shame it doesn't support DLSS
