yea, ram doesnt really need to be that fast, if you can i guess it cant hurt, but 1466mhz for your DDR3 is good.

ya thats what mine is, the only resaon i unlinked mine was because i didnt want to mess with the ram voltages, but i could easily just up the voltage on the ram and get it to the point where i could link them together again, i was just happy enough with my performance and didnt see the need for it, i don think ram speeds effect the overall system perfomance very much at all, i saw no increase going from 800mhz to 1066mhz with mine, but you can try it

Are you saying those are bad temps...?

no, i meant what you had it running at before, 60c is just fine, thats right where you wan it

I think you're confused, I never post my temps before lol but I admit, when I installed Crysis I just wanted to see how the game runs on this system and ended playing the game for more than 5 hours non stop with the fan on auto and the card overheated lol

oh my bad, i was referring to erikgergal's temps, i just quoted the wrong post, sry

Yeah that's what I'm using. When I'm playing games I just switch the fan to 70% and the temps of graphics card never reachs 60ºC on Crysis and Warhead, with The Witcher and Fallout3 it doesn't even reaches 50ºC. When I'm not gaming I just leave the fan on auto (40%) and the temps are around 40ºC.

i'm glad you got that sorted out, its never good to let your gpu run that hot.

that looks like a good build, i would say go with the Q9400 anyways, or at least the Q9300, and if he doesnt plan on overclocking that cpu cooler is more than overkill, i would go with this

AC Freezer 7 Pro, it works great and its cheaper

i agree with you, get the 920, the 940 is a waste if you ask me, but i love overclocking,

so i'd get the 920, and the you should get a 4870x2 :)

i'm not sure, my knowledge of DDR3 ram is quite limited, i don't want to miss inform you, but from what i know, i think that would work, as far as DDR2 goes, you dont have to change the timings to overclock it, my timings are still stock

[QUOTE="GTR2addict"][QUOTE="erikgergal"]i got rivatuner and upped the fan speed with that. now it idles at about 58C but during games it still goes up to about 86C that seems like way to high of a jump to me. think i might have to get a pci fan and put it underneath the GPU?Sordidus

no gfor crying out loud, JUST GET EVGA PRECISION! its free, all you have to do is raise the fan speed to about 40% and your heat problems are DONE, also, get something like a thermaltake blue orb 2, or scythe ninja, OR scythe orochi

i don't think you'll have any trouble with that, i had to set my ram to unlinked in the bios, because my ram is stock DDR2 800, and i was only able to push it to 1066 before it was unstable, but i couldnt leave it linked because my FSB was about 1850 or 1900mhz, that was pretty incredible, i couldnt ask that much of my ram, but for you, you might be able to leave it linked, but if you cant just find a good overclock and unlink it
