i'd say google 3dmark 06, there are lots of sites that allow you to download the demo, which is pretty much all anyone else has, and you can post your results in the thread stickied to the top of this forum, entitled Rate My Rig (Specs, Pics, etc.) and Benchmarking! ,then you can see how good your rig is compared to others, btw 3dmark 06 lets you run it as many times as you want, but you can only upload one result to their site until you have a key code or buy it, or whatever

The GTX 260 gets better performance. But there are 9800 GTXs that have better cooling solutions... so far. I don't have much airflow in my case, so I went with the 9800 GTX. It has a great fan/pipe configuaration on it plus 1GB of memory. I do not regret it. The highest it went was 55C. organic_machine
mine are in sli and never get that hot even in crysis.

not a bad build at all, if your only playing the games you mentioned then you should have no problems whatsoever, actually i think my friend can max out counter strike source on his old dell, it has a Pentium IV 3.0Ghz with HT, and an 8600 GT, haha, you should be just fine

thats right, speedstep is intended to help with the lifespan of the cpu, but the only thing that will kill your cpu, at least faster than normal, is increasing the voltage, i've read that the highest you should go on the 65nm cpu's is 1.5-1.575v, thats assuming you have good enough cooling to get the voltage that high and not have a problem, max safe temp for the 65nm cpu's, for 24/7 operation is about 60c, personally im running a 65nm E6600 at insane vcore voltages, about 1.693v:o, i've been running that for about a week, off and on, only that high when i bench, but it think i'm already noticing some degredation problems, but it's ok, i'm just borrowing the cpu from a friend:twisted:

[QUOTE="strider_ATI"]

ok thank you all for your help, i really appriciate it. But i still got 2 questions:

1. Even if i can't overclock my CPU, can i overclock my video card?

2. Will i see a big performance increase even with my CPU at 2.2 GHz?

I got to go now, i will see your replies in the morning. Thanks:)

your GPU is going to be overclocked from the desktop, its very easy and you'll be able to do it no problem, your cpu is a dual core 2.2Ghz, so yes that should be good enough for most of the games you'll be playing (other than crysis), it wont be great but it will work well enough

im not sure about your board, but for me, when i turned off speed step, it stayed at the 6x multiplier setting, so i would leave it on

download this, it's called orthos and it will run a thread that puts the cpu at 100% your cpu will go to 3 Ghz and stay there while it is running. i know it will work, there isnt anything wrong with your cpu, thats just how speed step works idk why. it's weird how the voltage goes up when the multiplier goes down, but thats just what it does, it doesnt hurt anything
