While it certainly has it's moments, I am often annoyed by the graphics. Not because they are bad (quite the opposite) but because of the overuse of lens flares, bloom and other filters it's just  too much and it can be very distracting. I'm playing it on PS3 right now, but might just get it for PC if there is a way to turn down some of those filters.. There is a gradient in the upper 6th of the screen in some levels which is VERY annoying and ruins those otherwise nice graphics. Also that "bleached" look of some of the levels is rather ugly to look at..

I really hope developers would stop overusing those effects.. then again hollywood is doing it too.. started with Star Trek and now has it's peek with Total Recall aka Lens flare the movie

wiiu is better than the vita and ps3 combined....

the games look great.just as good as ps3 ..and when you want to play it on the gamepad it's the very definition of "console quality in you hands"

ShadowsDemon

console quality in 480p...

You mean 1080p?

The controller has a resolution of 854 x 480

I really want a WiiU but the line up of games is very very disappointing. I don't enjoy those half assed NSMB games and don't get me started on Nintendo Land. While those might be fun for a few hours, they are no system sellers for me. I was expecting something great at launch, like a 3D Mario or even better a new Zelda game. Now I'm just gunna wait for some real games, rumours have it we won't see a Zelda before 2014 so I don't see me getting a WiiU very soon.

The only game I'm looking forward to is Monster Hunter, but then again I played MH3 on Wii and PSP so I'm not so excited.. Though I gotta admit MH in HD is very tempting even if it's just upscaled..

If you like RPG's get a 3DS... Etrian Odyssey IV, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Fire Emblem Awakening are all coming out early 2013 for america.

Samus3D

What about Soul Sacrifice and Persona 4? Those are FAR more promising than anything you just mentioned. Except maybe Monster Hunter, then again I played this game on Wii and PSP so I doubt there will be much new stuff to get me excited again (I'll probably still get it though).

Anyway, I don't understand why people keep praising the 3DS's library I have six games for my 3DS and there is hardly anything that catches my interest lately. For the VITA on the other hand they keep releasing games that I'm actually interested in. IMO the 3DS's library is very overrated..

I love both handhelds but right now I favour the VITA, that might change immeditaly after the release of Phoenix Wright 3D though ;)

I'm pretty sure they will implement something like that, but I doubt it'll work all that great with the touchscreen being resistive. Also the lack of feedback when typing will be rather annoying. I'd still prefer a hardware keyboard and hope it will be supported, it worked very well on Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii so I'm sure it'll be no problem on the WiiU.

After watching this http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-zombiu/17-6810/ I think I'll agree with the review mostly, this really doesn't look so good.. The meele combat looks awfully lame, they could have atleast given us some variety like axes, knifes, shovels, pipes etc. which should be also alot more common than a cricket bat (british stereotype much?). Also the touchscreen tapping seems completely out of place and not very immersive.. maybe I will rent this when i get a WiiU in a few months..

Okay so today I finally received my "perfect" Vita after SIX (!) exchanges. Either I got extremely unlucky or the quality control at Sony is somewhat lackluster. I love the Vita and I think it's one, if not THE best handheld ever made, but this really bothered me...

I think last month I posted here already that I got the "perfect" vita after an exchange but after only a few hours I found five dead subpixels and once seen you will NEVER make it unseen.

Anyway, here are the details to my Vita marathon..

  1. Vita had barely any blotches but a dead pixel in the middle.
  2. Vita had less blotches, better blacks but 5 dead subpixels in the middle on red and green, frequent crashes and a squeeky left trigger.
  3. Vita had a horrible screen, it had a 2cm thick grey line on the left that could be seen even in a fully lit room, squeeky left trigger.
  4. Vita had a nearly perfect display almost no blotches very good blacks but ALL buttons where squeeking like hell.
  5. Vita had a huge V shaped blotch that could be seen on every dark colour and of course a squeeky left trigger.
  6. Vita pretty good overall no squeeky trigger, but 2 dead pixels in the middle.
  7. Vita very nice screen with minor blotches, very good blacks only slightly squeeky left trigger. This one is a keeper!

I am picky with my gadgets I admit. but I'm telling you all of the Vitas I had before the one I have now were not acceptable. It's kinda sad to see this HUGE quality differences in the same product. I hope they will be able to fix all those issues for the next revision.

How about you guys, how many times did you exchange and how is the quality of your Vita?

You can't really mess up your screen with a screen protector, there is no adhesive involved. I recommend letting hot water run in the bathroom before applying the screen protector, the hot steam will make the dust in the air come down and stick to the walls and floor. Whats also very helpful is an air blower for DSLR cameras. I put screen protectors on all of my gadgets and I barely ever get any dust under the protector.
