Tag, I'm It.

Somehow I knew this would eventually happen, so I'll just make this quick.

1. I'm a junior in high school, and I have no idea what I want to do after I graduate. I should probably consider doing something about that. :P

2. I'm huge fan of professional and college football.

3. I'm a big movie fanatic, though you probably knew that already. My favorite genres are horror, crime, adventure, and sci-fi.

4. I've downloaded nearly every song from the Half-Life series. It's actually good music.

5. I rarely watch television anymore, nearly all my favorite shows have been off the air for a number of years.

Well, those are just some facts about me. Hope you enjoyed reading them.

Left 4 Dead 2.

Four new heroes, same old zombies. Left 4 Dead 2 was the game I've looking forward to all year. After playing for several days I can say it has its strong and weak points.

For one thing there are more campaigns, but the problem is that some of them are short. New weapons including melee are fun to use. Especially the chainsaw. Controls, graphics, and sound are all great too.

But honestly, this one is much more frustrating than the first one. I can play through the campaigns in the first Left 4 Dead without dying. In Left 4 Dead 2 you can easily die at least four or five times. While this doesn't sound like a big deal, it's just that when you die you have to start again at the last checkpoint, and you have to cover all that ground all over again.

But still, this is a great game. If you liked the first Left 4 Dead then you'll definitely like the sequel.

Veterans Day.

Today we thank all those who have fought for our country, and to those who have fought and paid with the ultimate sacrifice. My Grandfather was in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, and thankfully he made it back home. I had a Great-Grandfather who fought in World War I too, but since it was such a long time ago, I don't know much else about him.

A big thanks to all those who are serving on the battlefront now. We should also remember those who were killed at Fort Hood a few days ago. For none of them deserved to die like that.

Movie Recommendation #27.

Since it's Halloween, here's a cult classic horror film you should check out.

Movie: The Evil Dead, 1981.

Plot: Five friends are making their way through the Tennessee wilderness to a small cabin they've rented for a vacation from college. Once at the cabin, the group settles in and are looking forward to having a great time together. Upon exploring the cabin, the group discovers a strange book, and a tape recorder from the previous occupant. Turning on the tape recorder, the previous occupant was apparently an archaeologist that had discovered an ancient relic called "The Book of the Dead." Out of curiosity and fascination, the group continues to listen to the recording. The archaeologist begins to recite a passage from the book, which awakens the demons and evil within mankind's domain. The evil spirits begin to slowly pick off members of the group one by one through demonic possession. Those who are still human are now in a fight for their lives, and must find a way to escape the cabin before it's too late.

One of the most creative, shocking and suspenseful films ever conceived, The Evil Dead launched the careers of director Sam Raimi, and actor Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead was later followed by two sequels (Evil Dead II, 1987 and Army of Darkness, 1992) that also received critical acclaim. Whether you like horror movies or not, The Evil Dead is terrifying adventure with lots of action and gore to keep you asking for more.

Saw VI.

These past few weeks have been really stressful for me, school has been a pain because most of my classes suck so that's why I'm never around much. I won't be here this weekend, me and my Dad are going to see a Cleveland Browns game. Since it's the Browns I'm not expecting anything, but it should be fun to be there at the stadium.

With that out of the way, I'll give you my thoughts on the latest chapter of the Saw franchise.

To be honest I wasn't expecting much, but I will say it's a little better than Saw IV and V. The overall scenario was kind of interesting and suspenseful. If there's one thing I admire about the Saw films is that they're all able to connect to each other and keep the plot from going off track in different directions which is something that rarely happens in a horror franchise. The downside was that I really didn't understand the ending, but I guess I could always rent it when it's released on DVD. But overall, it was an alright movie.

With the announcement of Saw VI, I really thought it was going to be the last. Kind of like two trilogies, each with their own characters and settings and they all come full circle in the last chapter. Well, I was wrong. Saw VII is set to be released for Halloween 2010.

Aliens, Zombies and Freddy Oh My!

It's been awhile, but I guess that's what happens when you have school to bother you all the time. I've been struggling with a few of my classes lately, so I might not be around as much. But I hope to get things back on track real soon. With that out of the way, here's other stuff that's been going on.

I got Halo 3: ODST about a week ago. I will say that it's a very fun game with great controls, graphics, and music. The only downside to the game is that it's way too short. I feel like I should have waited for the price to drop, because honestly this game should have been priced at $30.

I also saw the movie Zombieland a few days ago, and it was actually a really good movie. Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray were great, and there was plenty of action and humor in every part of the movie. If you liked Shaun of the Dead, then you'll definitely like this.

Last, a new trailer for the upcoming re-make of A Nightmare on Elm Street was released a few days ago. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this. For one thing A Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite slasher film, and the re-make is going to include many of the iconic scenes from the original Elm Street which at least shows they're being faithful to the original. Plus it will be great to see Freddy again, he's honestly the greatest villain I have ever seen.

School is In.

Oh great it's that time of the year again. Just when things are going fine, you find yourself back at that dump called high school. I don't know if I'll be able to hang around here like usual, then again I am a very lazy person when it comes to school work. So it might work out.

Not much else going on. There is that new Batman game I hear is good that just came out. I might check it out and see if it's any good.

Wolfenstein.

A World War II game unlike any you'll ever play. Wolfenstein explores the secret Nazi science experiments and involvement in the occult. The subject itself has always fascinated me. The idea of the Nazis, harnessing a power beyond reason and logic would have been a terrifying experience for all of mankind. Good thing it never happened.

So far Wolfenstein has been a great experience, the visuals are beautiful, and the controls are good too. Out of all the firearms you collect, my favorite would have to be the Particle Cannon, a secret Nazi weapon. Also using the occult powers to slow things down, and shield yourself from bullets are very cool, and a nice game play touch.

The only thing that's bad is the navigation, and this takes place entirely in the town stage where you go to the next levels. Trying to find certain locations can take awhile since there's so much ground to cover, that and constant Nazi patrols. It's also annoying that you have to check in with two separate resistance groups in the town stage. It just makes things take longer.

Despite some minor flaws, Wolfenstein is still a great game. If science fiction and history are some of your favorite subjects, then this is the game for you.

Movie Recommendation #26.

Movie: WALL-E, 2008.

Plot: Hundreds of years into the future, the Earth is dry desolate planet without a trace of human or plant life. The pollution of toxins and garbage have forced the people of Earth to flee the planet, leaving working robots to clean up the massive mess. After many years, nearly all the clean up robots have ceased to function. Expect one. A single robot who roams the planet and continues the job, named WALL-E. As WALL-E works he gathers many items from Earth's past and even makes himself a home to come to at the end of each day. But as time goes by, the little robot begins to fell lonely and isolated. Yearning for a friend to by his side. One day, a ship is lands on Earth with a probe named EVE whose job is to search the barren planet for any form of organic life so that the people can return to Earth. WALL-E soon meets EVE and begins to form a bond of friendship with her that he has wished for all these years. But when a small plant is discovered, EVE is forced to return to report on her finding. Before the ship carrying EVE can depart, a determined WALL-E hitches a ride, and travels throughout the solar system to a large space craft where the rest of the human race resides. After making a landing, EVE discovers that a rogue machine on board has stolen the plant. Without the proof, the human race can not return to Earth, and the rogue machine is determined to keep it that way. As WALL-E and EVE begin their search, the rogue machine trails their every move with the entire ship's security at his control aiming to stop them.

To be honest when it comes to Pixar films, I usually ignore them and think to myself "That's just for little kids." But after all the things I heard about WALL-E, I figured why not. After watching this, it's simply a fantastic film. The animation and is amazing, the best I've ever seen in an animated film, it's full of adventure, thrills, and plenty of humor. In the end, it doesn't matter how old you are. WALL-E shows you the true meanings of friendship, compassion, and love.

The Conduit.

I've been looking forward to this one for awhile now, all I can say is that I'm having some mixed feelings on The Conduit. I'll just run down the positives and negatives.

For on thing the graphics are great for a Wii game, and the controls work well despite the Wii controller not having many buttons.

The main thing that drags The Conduit down is the level design. It's so poor, the environments you explore aren't challenging and don't have many hazards, (expect for the enemies) and the puzzles you're faced with solving are very easy. The last thing wrong with The Conduit is that sometimes the camera can be a problem; trying to turn around makes the camera get stuck pointing straight up for a few seconds for some reason.

Overall this is no Half-Life or Halo, but I will say it's much better than other first-person shooters I've played on the Wii. But still, I'm disappointed with the overall game design and difficulty.

I'm not sure about this one, maybe I should keep playing it to get a better opinion on it. Until then if you're interested in checking out The Conduit, then you may want to rent this first.
