umm the specs you provided are hard to read. do it like this

CPU: (processer)
GPU: (video card)
RAM: (amount of ram)
AVAILABLE SPACE: (self explanotory)
MONITOR: (your monitor)

If you dont know HOW to find your specs the easy , fast way to get all your specs on 1 page is to go to www.srtest.com pick ANY game , doesnt matter, then it will list the specs you have and compare them, but for now, we just want your specs.

You might be able to on DX9. I have a a Q6600 and two 4850s and it is barely standable on Ultra high DX10 at 1680X1050.JP_Russell

Yes, but Crossfire is known for scaling poorly in Crysis. Two 8800GT's (the same as two 9800GT's) actually outperform CF'ed 4850's in it.

He should be able to manage all very high at 1680x1050, maybe even with 2X AA.

Yes, crossfire doesnt work well with CCrysis, crytek probably thought ATI woudnt make a comeback to rival the 8800's, when they did, and then some. He SHOULD be able to play at very high 2XAA with seemless frames at DX9, DX10 he can play high/very high with no AA, but on DX10.

All on 1680X1050 of course, but i just wish crossfire would scale in crysis, i hope they release a patch or something, since crossfire AND ati do not work well at ALL with crysis. Since no amount of hardware can overcome bad coding.

The thing with 32 bit, it can only recognize 4gigs of System AND video ram. So if you have 1 gig of GDDR3, and vista uses a whole gig just to run, youll be left with 1 use-able gig out of the 4.

4 gigs
-1 since it can only recognize 3 = 3

3 - 1 because vista uses a whole gig just to run = 2

2 - 1 (or whatever your video RAM is) = 1

so out of the 4, you have 1 free gig. i know, it sucks . I have 32 bit =/

Uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers and all works fine. Now I would like to increase my cpu fan. I know I have seen a recommended program mentioned on this forum, if anyone knows what it is I would appreciate it if you could give me the name.

Thanks

taylord526

Ok guys, I have read all the posts concerning gpu temps and followed the instructions at

http://www.xtremesystems.org/FORUMS/showthread.php?t=192932 In order to adjust fan speed. Problem is nothing changes. Have restarted the box, downloaded the newest drivers, but still fan speed operates at 22%. As instructed I have activated the overdrive settings, created a profile, and changed auto to manual along with entering a new % value. I save the file, but nothing happens. When I restart the the box the settings in my created profile return to defaults. Any thoughts? I really want to get the temp down, under load I'm at 80c.

Backup the file before doing this, but change the 'Manual' to 'Percent'

You might be able to on DX9. I have a a Q6600 and two 4850s and it is barely standable on Ultra high DX10 at 1680X1050. DX9 fixed all those problems and AA could be applied. P.S. my q6600 is over clocked, so again, you may need to overclock your processer.

Will the two be relitively the same?? What one's quicker?..

My resolution is 1024x1028 and i can get the 4870x2 for $160 more than a 4870, which is $450 where i live...

So my question is the 4870x2 overkill for my tiny monitor? and will the 4870 single perform all the games full at a playable res. and which one is quicker 4870 crossfire or 4870x2.

Youe help is appreciated..

BAm-bAM_

How come at NCIX (canada) they sell 4870X2s for 600 dollars?...
