I'm fine with this. The multiplayer variant they have now is all it needs, they've spent this long fine tuning the mechanics of it. Adding something entirely new, like naval battle, would require an entire overhaul in how the combat's handled, assuming we'd be able to board enemy ships. It's just a mess, and Assassin's Creed has never been about naval battle, as fun as it might've been in AC3.
It's fine if they're going to incorporate it into the campaign but leave multiplayer out of it.
As someone else previously said, A Wii U edition could be fantastic for consoles. The touch-screen could be utilized for inventory and crafting, that alone would give it any advantage over any other console edition of the game.
What a dumb idea. It's one thing if it's a character model, or exclusive power-ups, but the entirety of the multiplayer? I doubt pre-orders for this game will be anywhere near good, never mind how bad the sales numbers will be once it releases. Now, thanks to this stupid move, any momentum that the multiplayer might've had is now going to be worthless, as the multiplayer is exclusive only to those who pre-order.. at least, at first. But by the time they release it to the public, people won't care.
You're not Activision, Techland. You can't just lock parts of the game away and turn it into a pre-order incentive, it doesn't work that way. I'll enjoy watching your game flop.
I understand that the Wii and the Wii U almost have the same name, but you guys are too quick to assume that the average consumer is so dumb that he couldn't differentiate the two consoles. They're clearly different, you can see that by passing the booths in Wal-Mart, or just by looking at the box.
Again, the problem ISN'T the name. It's the lack of software for the console entirely. Though Reggie didn't do himself any favors with the 'meh' comment.
@quaker04 THIS. Me and a friend have said that LEGO should collaborate with Minecraft or do a Minecraft-styled game ages ago.. it being LEGO makes it a very obvious choice.
@Prats1993 @NaturalDisplay If I've learned anything over the past few years, it's to completely disregard E3. It's turned into nothing but corporate advertising.
@arqe @yearssomuch No.. AoC was fun, but it was such a buggy pile of crap that it became worth no ones time. The fact that the game could run better on highest graphics settings than it could on lowest is embarrassing.. at least that's how it was at launch, and for months after for many, many users. Not to mention all of the bugs and Funcom's complete and total disregard for customer support, and this is a company I'll never deal with ever again.
It's been 4 or 5 years since I bought AoC and I STILL regret it, to this day.
People play WoW because it's simple, linear, and it's not broken, unlike the crap that Funcom pumps out. I don't like World of Warcraft, and I especially don't like Activison/Blizzard, but don't use them to put Funcom up on a pedestal.. they're not worth the time.
@19James89 @mezati4 But the fact that Reggie talks down on other companies launch titles while simultaneously being the one to refer to the competitions launch titles as 'meh' is a complete joke.
SURELY, he understands how much that makes him look like a total asshole.
