As others have said, the reason no one wants a primarily digital console is largely in part due to HDD space and internet speed concerns. On my X360, PS3, and PC, I have tons of games, which takes up tons of space. In the next-gen, these games will only take up more and more space. With the data size increasing, this obviously means far longer downloads. While this may not be a problem for a few, not everyone has access to the type of internet required to download a 30 GB game in a matter of hours.
Oh, and I'm absolutely sick of seeing people compare the X1 to Steam. It's nothing like Steam, and it never would have been, so shut up. I can play ALL of my Steam games offline if I choose to, without even needing Steam. The fact that Microsoft wanted to keep you online at all times, with this 'feature' being the only excuse, makes the X1 look weak and pathetic.
And if you actually believe that Microsoft will push out seasonal 75% off digital deals for full franchises, you're blind. If Microsoft even considers the idea of selling a retail game for so cheap, it wouldn't be for years down the line, when the console has a decent game library behind it. With no backwards compatibility and no access to the previous generation, it simply cannot be compared to Steam in any way, as Steam clearly has a far bigger library, largely in part to the games of old. Microsoft isn't going to be doing crazy sales for games that have only been out for 6 months, period. End of story.
What it comes down to is pretty simple, really. Microsoft wanted to establish a monopoly on their games, without any access from third parties who could potentially profit on said games. Everything in between was just fluff for your ears.
@Areez Right, because Microsoft being a known participant in PRISM, placing a camera in your entertainment center, doesn't make it at all easier for the NSA to keeps tabs on you, does it?
@epicgameresearc I wholeheartedly agree. I see articles on GameSpot, IGN, ShackNews, etc., from these big-time publishers all of the time, trying to tell their consumers that they 'don't understand' what they're being shown when it's a matter of simply not wanting it, BECAUSE of the facts.
I'm so sick of these companies trying to tell me what to think and how to feel, which is something that I see far too often in these sort of PR stunts.
@Jasurim Yes. If they needed to remove it because of the way discs were going to work before, then I understand. But there is absolutely no reason that they couldn't enact the same policies on digital downloads, other than them being spiteful about the outcry AGAINST said policies.
@dribblesbarbax They're probably realizing how hollow and dull this 'feature' is and they're shortening it because they can't find any way to add some actual depth.
@PixelAddict @yearssomuch Why can't I simply leave my opinion in the form of a comment, mentioning my dislike for the show, and my own personal inquiries involving my own curiosity as to why it's even around in the first place? It's just my opinion, it doesn't need to be met with this 'Don't like it, don't watch it' mentality that seems to be going around.

Second of all, I'm more than allowed the freedom to say that this show sucks if such is my opinion. Since that's your mentality, how about 'not reading' my comments if you find them disagreeable.
