My most memorable thing I heard was when I was playing RTCW (I think) and a guy was talking and you could hear a baby crying in the background. I suppose blowing away the allied forces with a Panzer was a little more important at the time.. after all it WAS war...

Ummm... seeing as such stuff is not supported nor advocated by Microsoft, I'd look elsewhere to find out such information. Look around the internet and google. You won't find much information here, and in fact you may get in trouble..

I played 2 before I played 1, and like you I wasn't very impressed with the package and quite frankly the game just started annoying me. While you could argue that you miss out on what some consider to be one of the best games ever, and also it would probably make some of the stuff in HL2 make more sense, I had a ton of fun playing HL2 and its expansion stories without HL1. Don't let your frustrations with HL1 deter you or delay your playing of 2.

I got the 360 Elite, and I've been reading on this forum that the DVD player is horrible in terms of lack of upconverting and other issues like that. Are there any plans to allow for upconverting like the PS3? Quite frankly I find the 360 player to be great for the mere fact that it seems to play burned and copied DVDs without any problems. Assuming you don't already have an HDMI super/upconverting dvd player, is the 360 DVD player decent enough to be the main DVD player of the house? Its not like the PS2 or Xbox where there were copy problems, and quite frankly I don't see what a non-upconverting dvd player has that the 360 does not have.

In 1 word... NO!!

I was very mad when I found out I had to throw down an extra $90 on the adapter, but after going wireless with my computers and my Wii, I couldn't stand stringing wires across my halls anymore.

Ummm.. is the 360 completely dead? Your message is a little vague. Where is the $80 coming from?

As someone who got the Elite themselves, I must say that really the other editions pale in comparison. The 120GB HD is a great thing to have. If you plan on fully utilizing the 360 and want to download video content, especially HD content, the 20 GB hard drive will simply not suffice. As far as HDMI goes, since it seems to be the "new thing" that will replace component video (not to mention it comes with a free HDMI cord), its just another added feature that makes the package better. Shame on MS for releasing such differing editions of the 360 (no HDD, 20GB, and 120 GB), but you'll be happier later if you buy the Elite now. FYI, it is NOT that hard to find; you're just not looking hard enough. I found mine easily at a local Target.
