For new 360 buyers, the new elite will be the way to go.  For current owners, their systems are just fine.  For me, I don't really need to upgrade to Elite since I use component connections on my HDTV and I don't need a larger hard drive since I don't download much video content (I live in Canada so we don't get all the shows and movies).  I would consider buying an Elite when they use the new 65nm chip for more stable and quieter performance.

My one concern is that the movie industry will implement the ICT (image constraint token) which limits HD-DVD playback to 480p over component.  This hasn't been implemented yet since so many early HDTV adopters use component connections.  But if it is implemented, I will basically be forced to buy the new Elite version so that I have HDMI for watching HD-DVD's on my HD-DVD drive.  Since both HD-capable consoles will have HDMI, it is possible that the movie industry could move toward using the ICT in the next year or two.  Other than that, there's no reason to upgrade.

If the game does use more than one disc:

I'd like to see the option of installing game content on the hard drive so that hard drive owners can take advantage. People who don't own hard drives would have to run off discs (and swap occasionally), but hard drive owners could just play with one disc in the drive and run the rest of the content off the hard drive like PC gamers do. This is a pretty common option in a lot of PC games. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible in 360 games.

I don't have the earpiece, but doesn't it have a little synchronization button on it to synch it up with your console?  Just press the sync button on the console and on the earpiece when you're logged in with your Gamertag.  Maybe I'm wrong, but that ought to work.

What single player FPS game is really any good any more?  Single player just can't compare to playing against real intelligent humans that aren't scripted and can't cheat like AI can (well people can cheat if they find glitches, but not in the same way that AI can be really cheap in some games).  Online is where it's at in RS:V.  Frankly, if you bought RS:V just for single player, I think you wasted your money.  It's the best online console FPS on the market right now.  But single player? Meh...even Halo's and Gears of War's  single player gets boring fast.

I don't really see the Wii as a true competitor against PS3 and 360.  It's a totally different market segment.  Many casual gamers that just won't spend +$500 on a console will spend a few hundred for a simpler system for the family.  Many hardcore gamers will buy both the Wii and another console.  So they're not really competing against each other.

The Wii will do great because it emphasizes fun, playing together, and it's very accessible to people who know nothing about video games.  I have friends who really struggle with FPS games like Rainbow Six on my 360 as they just can't get a hang of the whole complexity of controlling movement and aiming simultaneously with their thumbs.  For me, it's easy because I'm used to it.  But for them, a Wii is just so easy and accessible as they can just aim instinctively.  Still, these friends would never buy a 360 or PS3 in the first place since most games are just too complicated for them.

I suppose if the 360 or PS3 came out with a similar control device (I know SixAxis has motion sensing, but it's not the same) as the Wii with a similar range of games, they could then perhaps be considered competition.  But atm they just aren't competing for the same consumers.  I'll probably pick up a Wii later this year for my family and perhaps for times when friends are over, but I'll keep playing my 360 the majority of the time.

You do realize that PS3 owners boycotting this game at the very most successful level would only reduce sales of the PS3 version thereby encouraging more development for the other consoles?  If anything, you should have a "Buy multiple copies" campaign to show that the PS3 can hold its own.  It makes no sense to boycott the game, but go ahead.

The whole disc argument limiting the ability of the 360 to play games is kinda weak.  It would be very easy to have a multi-disc package much like Final Fantasy games in the past had, for example.  Many games have been multi-disc.  Or, they could allow an option to install a bunch of the game data on the hard drive to cut down or eliminate disc-swapping (especially with the new rumoured 100 Gig HDD).  So it's not impossible just because it's more than 9 gigs. It would probably end up being maybe 2 or 3 discs which is not terribly unusual.  It's not like you'd be swapping discs all the time anyways.

We will have to wait. My guess is that Sony will have a time exclusivity if not the whole exclusivity. Because really lately Namco has been giving Sony product lots of support, well, not support but games.

And to the retarded freak who said 3 million. Please do us a favor and crawl back to the whole you came from. Really. Stupid posts like yours are making the forums look like kindergardens.

My point in regards to mentioning the number 3 million (admittedly a bit of a ridiculous number for Ace Combat) is that it would be impossible for Ace Combat to sell terribly well on the PS3 since there are only about 3 or 4 million PS3's in people's homes at the moment. Unless the attach rate of Ace Combat on PS3 is phenomenal, they're not going to sell a huge amount of copies. Whereas if they port it to the 360, they can achieve a much higher quantity of sales with the minimal effort of porting the game, which is quite easy to do with the 360's tools. 3 million was just a hypothetical number to illustrate the point that it would be nearly impossible to sell that many copies on the PS3. Anyways, I disagree that it was a "stupid post". The reality is that the PS3 just hasn't sold well enough for most developers to even recuperate their costs on some of these games. That's why so many games are going multi-platform, along with the fact that Microsoft is trying to make it as easy as possible to develop for the 360.

That's so close it's kinda ridiculous to use it as your argument for PS3 games being the same or better than the 360.  How much better is 0.1 anyways?

[QUOTE="WARRZONE"]I like the explosions and background better on the 360 version. I like how the PS3 version is lighter, because I can't see anything at some parts in the 360 version. Comparison Video: SD Quicktime:

Wow Sony's is lighter -- it's called turning up the brightness on your TV -- or maybe choosing the brightness setting in the game's video options.
