The PS3 is supposed to have the best graphics on it. It seems as though people ain't amazed with graphics and liuke the gameplay more and Nintendo have focused more on gameplay and it's new console the Wii is selling well because of that

DVD players were expensive. PS2's were cheaper. Same thing now. Far from it. There were cheaper DVD players in the US in 2000, but it's the format's momentum that made the PS2 a good bargain. Keep in mind that DVD was introduced in 1996, so it was out for 4 years and the PS2 simply continued the momentum. Right now, HD isn't mainstream and BD is only a year old on the market. Launching the PS3 with BD was more or less like launching the N64 with a DVD drive in 96. Worth noting that there are comparably priced Panasonic BD players on the market. And Sony's 2nd revision standalone BD player is merely $500 (will be out soon). The PS3 is no longer a cheaper alternative.

I don't think the PS3 is down and out just yet, however it needs to start performing and fast. It was about this far into the 360's life that it started coming good with games such as GRAW and Oblivion. The PS3 needs those kind of titles over the summer desperately. It is all well and good being promised MGS4 and FFXIII but those games are a long way off, FF especially has only a small chance of a 2008 release and that is not soon enough the PS3 needs games NOW. I can only hope that Heavenly Sword and Lair prove to be genuine console sellers otherwise Sony is treading on thin ice. In all honesty I want Sony to win the console war again, and I am not saying this as a fanboy. I own a 360 and owned a Wii. The 360 is great, the best next-gen console out there (at the moemnt) in my opinion. I just don't feel like it is as gooder console as the PS2 was for its time because I think with Sony's influence over the Japanese market the Playstation franchise as long as it is successful will always recieve its share of great Japanese AND Western titles. For me this is what has set the Playstation apart from other consoles in previous generations. As for the Wii, I just don't like it. It can be fun in groups but for me that is not how I play most of my games and it will never see the kind of games I really want to play such as Assasins Creed, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy etc. Games that will push the limits of the 360 and PS3. To conclude; a lot of you say you hate Sony and are glad they are doing badly. But in the end, most of you probably own a PS2, and do you really think the gaming industry would be as good as it is now without them?

No defence for any system here, but I want to clarify something. Are the PS3's being sold as soon as they are off the assembly line? Is it possible to get a PS3 whenever you decide to buy one? If they are still rarities like they were before, are the sales numbers not the effect of not being able to manufacture PS3's faster than the Wii's? If I'm not mistaken, the demand is still greater than the supply for PS3. I do not think the PS3 sales numbers are of any indication of the PS3's success.

you never heard of nintendo fans crying over their "exclusives" jumping ship. final fantasy, metal gear, dragon warrior and many more all first appeared on nintendo back in the day. That's because you probably were merely 5-6 years old, or possibly younger if you really think that. There was a big uproar when FF7 jumped ship, having been announced originally for the N64. Also, Metal Gear for the NES was a watered down port of the MSX original. A year late port I might add. Man of Teal, the most wanted list is a mere reader list, so it means really nothing. I find that comment about quality of games a bit odd, since neither the PS3 or Wii have a good library right now, but the Wii has the controller and one killer app (TTP). It's really the different approach that's putting it ahead everywhere (and it will lead by August), in addition to the fact that it costs less than half the price of a PS3. Content wise, the 360 leads the pack by a wide margin both quality and quantity. That's undebatable, but it's still being outsold by the Wii.

The reson the PS3 'doesnt have any good games' is not because its difficult to program them becasue its just not true its just developers are to lazy to import it on to a blu ray disk its not anymore difficult to program it for and some devlpoers have said its easier

I like PlayStation but right now I'm happy because the PS3 is losing sales, that console is too expensive and it doesnt even has good games! Good for Nintendo! They know what we want:)

It seems like Nintendo is taking revenge against Sony. I am disappointed about this, as I have been losing my respect for Nintendo over a situation with the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I want Sony to win every console war. Sony will strike back.

it keeps being noted that the PS3 doesn't have any games.....it will! patience is a virtue..... the Wii looks great, the games look fun, it deserves to be on top right now. its got games and its affordable. but PS3 will be on top again, as soon as the games hit the market. Microsoft has got issues, bugs, ring of death, overheating....etc. Gobs of great games that you cant play because you're waiting for microsoft to send back the "repaired" 360 you waited 6 months to get, and paid $139.00 in addition to the $400.00 you already shelled out cause you were 5 days past warranty doesnt sit well with me. i jumped ship.

anyone who says the Wii is a kiddie system should play Godfather blackhand edition, it don't get anymore mature or violent than that thats as close as you are gonna get to killing a man with your bare hands but yea you know things arent when your "super computer end all to be all system" is being beat out by the gameboy advance in sales which is what i dunno 5 year old handheld ?

1) i am a casual gamer. 2) i hardly ever stick through a game to beat it. 3) i get bored easily of games 4) i am tired of recycled games the DS has been refreshing especially owning all the best games and having the convenience to change games etc. the wii on the otherhand really sat by collecting dust by my HDtv for sometime - i initially got it to play games with my gf - not your typical gamer either - finally after a little modification i have all the games plus Gamecube games. Love paper mario and some older GC games! i am playing this system too much and its fun! I only wish we can add a harddrive to the wii for added convenience of swapping games. I'd be all over PS3 if it was more 'casual gamer' friendly. thumb up!

It IS funny to see people clammer one side of the fence, or the other, when GS throws up another statistic among the systems. Nintendo created artificial demand for the Wii and is now outselling all other systems! Random Fan A: Nintendo rules! Go M$! Wii60 4 eva! lolol Buuuut, anyway.. I WILL give my props up to Nintendo. When they do gaming.. they do it right, though, I just don't think they'll win this war. The DS is one thing, and Nintendo is the only one to do handheld gaming right, but the Wii is just a fad. Most of the people I know, that got theirs in Nov., rarely touch them, now.. and they're back to their PS2's and Cube's, such as myself.

yeah im 34 and married. our Wii gets played every day. in 480p. on a 42 inch plasma screen. yep. more online games would be good from day one, but they are coming. (mario kart etc)

5-to-1? Wow! Nintendo's getting their game back! First the DS, now the Wii. I'm pretty much glad of this, because I think the gaming industry needs to focus on bringing something completely different to the gaming community. Don't get me wrong, the XBox 360 and the PS3 seem like really fine systems, and they have some pretty good games, but I applaud Nintendo for bringing something new to gaming.

Microsoft gave people a choice with the add on HD-DVD player. Sony is forcing Blu Ray down people's throats whether they want that capability or not. Take the Blu Ray drive out of the PS3 and the price would probably drop to around the same as the Xbox 360.

To u "Dualmask" Truthful microsoft is ripin u off because the 360 Elite is $475 with a 120GB drive with HDMI with no blue ray or HD DVD. But u buy that HD DVD and u have $675 because the HD DVD is $200. Why make a bigger hard drive when u can just buy it a the store for $100. But Xbox360 with still with no blue ray.

So you're telling me that the Wii is a kiddie system? Have you even played Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Because that game is out for the Wii. Still think the Wii is a kiddie game system? I don't think so.

I compleatly agree with you Dualmask. What you said souds like it isn't coming from a fanboy. Cause almost all the time you can't listen to a fanboy since..... well there a fan of the one company. And will probally say that their favorite companny is the best. For me, I judge a console(or any gaming device) by what games it has, and how many of those games I like. I own a Wii for a three reasons. 1. I could afford it. 2. It looked like it would be fun to play. 3. I like almost all of the games it supports. I kinda wish it had better graphics though. I really enjoy crashing cars in Motor Storm.

I know this sounds absolutely crazy but my friend has ps3 and I will not touch that thing until they add some force--feedback and the ability to play custom soundtracks... I am too spoiled by 360 and Wii... Bummer though I used to be a PS fan...:(

I'd be all over the PS3 if they didn't force Blu-Ray on the consumer. That's why I respect MS's choice to allow the consumer to choose whether they wanted the HD-DVD drive or not (even the brand new 360 Elite with its 120-ishGB drive costs less than the PS3). Sony should have done the same. It'd be cheaper then, and I'd actually be able to afford it. It's not that the Wii is a better system, because that's subjective. What is true is that the Wii is cheaper and fun. No, I'm not going to say it's more fun than the PS3...that depends on the game you play. It's like this (and I've said this before): Sony fans say the PS3 isn't overpriced, that a Blu-Ray player should cost a lot more and for what you get, the PS3 is a steal. That may be true. But if someone was selling a brand new fresh-out-the-factory Ferrari for $10,000.00, that's a steal too...that doesn't mean the average consumer can afford it. It doesn't matter what it can do, it's too expensive. That's my only issue with the PS3...the only problem I have with it. I bought a brand new gaming ready PC for less than that system costs (albeit without a monitor). And Sony has the nerve to actually make one with a bigger hard drive? I'm sorry, but there comes a time when confidence simply becomes stubbornness. I still want a PS3, but Sony has got to do something about that price. Remodel the dang thing and make the BD an option, not a mandatory addition. Concentrate on making a game system, not something to take over the living room. Meanwhile, I'm glad I managed to get my hands on a Wii. Maybe its success won't last forever. But right now it's dominating, and developers are paying attention to that, even if we, the gaming public, don't know it yet.

Halo 3, Mass Effect, Assasins Creed, MGS4, GTA IV, FFXIII (maybe); this list goes on and on - How good does a game need to be for you to consider it must have?! First off, most of the games you listed aren't out yet, and several won't even be out this year. However my point remains: Yes there are several AAA titles that are already out. Twilight Princess, Gears of War, Resistance, etc. However, while their numbers are sizable, the majority of gamers probably only want two or three of them that appeal to their own personal tastes. I've already got Twilight Princess and the other two Wii games that I *bought* the system for aren't out yet. There's maybe two games I want for the 360, and the PS3 won't get *any* games I want until next year. Yes, there are other titles I would enjoy if I got said systems (or if I put less money towards my PS2 and DS and more towards my Wii), but they aren't going to be as engaging or immersive. The bottom line is that each system only has a few key titles a peice at the moment, and they're fairly spread out across genres. However, like I said, by this time next year the pace will have picked up and there will be a good selection for nearly anyone's tastes.

ok people, the wii might have a lot of sales but u have to look at the situation its a kid system with kiddy games and some gurls and people never had a system. But the PS3 and 360 have more MATURE games for the hardcore thinking like god of war and spliter cell. So anyways u will have alot of people buying because its more fun and understanding. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Typical excuse, Sony and Microsoft are for more mature gamers. Well regardless of that standpoint and look on things, Nintendo is still dominating the market right now. As for Sony not having any good games out and as soon as they get some good games (the one that isn't coming to the 360 that is) sales will take off and all will be well for Sony. Well here's my counter argument to that, the PSP has been around for awhile now and has plenty of games for it, but why is the DS constantly crushing it? Answer me that one. When it comes down to it, the PS3 (anyone who calls it a PS triple is mildly retarded) won't have anything that will make buying one worth while until 2008. Even then I'm not about to spend that much on a console just for one or two games. I'm a Metal Gear fan but MGS4 isn't enough to get me to buy a PS3. Anything beyond MGS4 is coming out on the 360. Good job Nintendo are staying ahead of the other companies and proving to everyone once again who the true king of the console war is.

I agree LordBelgarion to some degree but this generation cannot be compared to the last. DVD's were already becoming a standard when PS2 released. Blu Ray was pretty non-exsistant thanks to their high priced standalone players until PS3 released. Last generation, Microsoft hardly had any good support on the original Xbox, now 360 is selling well and has much more support and better games. Wii is nothing like the Gamecube obviously. This generation is totally different. The PS3 will never become the top console everyone will run out and buy due to cheaper alternatives and the lack of great exclusives. Even Xbox is getting GTA 4 the same time as PS3. Expect Nintendo to become the top selling console this generation.

I have to add, my parents bought a wii. You know the people that wouldn't buy me a super nintendo as a child even when I begged and screamed for years. I never knew the day when mom and dad would actually buy a home console system that wasn't a cable box.

The bluray is worth it at $600. A game console is not worth it at $600, there's always trouble when people try to mix apples and oranges. This leaves a select few that buy the PS3 and want the games for it, even though they probably are revolutionary. The PSP is the same thing, revolutionary, but Nintendo has proven time and time again on handhelds and now on home consoles, it's not about the most technologically advanced device. it's whether or not you are having a lot of fun.

PS2's were cheaper. Same thing now. This is of course a great thing. Although I hope the PS3 is better equiped for having their disk spinning all the time. I remember there were a lot of burned out PS2 motors from being used as DVD players. I fear that the cheap Blu ray player is just too soon for the market to really be attractive as a good buy. True, I'd like the Wii to be able to play at least DVD's, simply cause I don't have a dvd player, but that doesn't matter in this case. If I wanted a gaming console that has a 7.1 surround sound system built in to view my dvd's on, I'd buy a 360. Which brings me to my next point. I can buy a 360 AND a Wii, and I'll have a great dvd player (most movies are still DVD) and TWO gaming consoles. This article is about just that. The Wii is very succesfull due to it's fun factor AND it's price. The PS3 is a good product, but the Blu ray was too soon for the market and simply to expensive for a gaming console ...
