today... I relapsed into shopping for games... I need help bad...

taking gmsnpr's advice; I had gone to pick up MvC2 for the XBOX and had a spending issue...

all new... at MSRP...
Gundam Seed: Battle Assault (gameboy advance)($30, last copy, light sticker stain)
Digimon World DS (DS)($30 sealed)
Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 (GBA)($30 sealed, mint)
Rebelstar (gba)($10, for a friend)

all used but mint and complete.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (xbox) (approx. $55)
Resident Evil 2 (GCN)(free - b2get1)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (gcn) (approx $30)

my friend for whom I bought RS gave me:
the DQ8 outer box to make mine complete (a bit beat up but better then nothing)
the MMX5 case to make mine complete
the Suikoden manual to make mine complete
the Suikoden II manual for trading to another good friend ifhe *glares at Garrett* still wants it
the Jo Jos Bizare adventure(DC) case and manual to make mine complete
the Capcom VS SNK (DC) case to make mine complete
the Chrono Trigger (SNES) manual (no cover and written on)
help...
and tomorrow never dies(ps1) case & manual (extra)waflerevolution

There are some really desirable games and upgrade parts in that list, John, nicely done!  I'm still trying to find a local copy of MvC 2 on XBox, and JoJo's has quickly become tough to find.  I am definitely interested in the Suikoden II manual; if I had another Chrono Trigger manual, It'd be yours.

it's funny, I don't even have the game... I'll be sure to hold said manual aside in safe keeping.

Today I broke my nearly month long streak of behaving (The Wii and Zelda don't count. Those were essential) and made a few purchases. Damn Best Buy and their stupid double reward zone points on games. The blame falls entirely on them.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz

Elite Beat Agents

Yoshi's Island DS

More would have been purchased, but Metal Slug Anthology, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Rayman Raving Rabbids were all out of stock. I also picked up Pokemon Indigo League Season 1 on DVD, but that's not a game.

Star Wars Arcade is good on 32X.gmsnpr

Wow, I just saw some screenshots of this game on MobyGames.  It looks freaking amazing; I really want to play this game big-time.  I love the old Star Wars wire frame arcade game; the yoke controller felt so wicked-awesome to use; like I was really piloting an X-Wing.

The cockpit image looks remarkably similar (but clearly different) to the X-Wing PC sim.

(Funny thing I noticed while typing this title into the MobyGames search: you can type it all with just your left hand; like "stewardess".)

I don't know what Sega was thinking with the 32X/Saturn. They weren't powerful enough to put out the stuff they tried to put out for it and everythig looks too sloppy. I need to find more traditional style games for these systems so they don't make my eyes hurt from the terrible graphics. Of course, at the time people would have been happy to play in 3-D, so I can see why people still enjoyed them at least to an extent. I haven't got a chance to play them really as it's hard to put on the 32X (my Genesis carts barely fit in it) with my current setup. But, soon I'm going to try to have a decent one. Not sure if the a/v cords/rf units and whatnot will be long enough, but we'll see. I guess from here I should try to get a Sega CD, may as well have all their major consoles. Nomad would be good, but I'm not shelling out $100 for a portable Genesis.

Cool, I used to have Tempo, but I don't any more.Star Wars Arcade is good on 32X.

Tempo has a hilarious opening track where he sings about how "Tempo is in the house -- LA, New York and San Francisco" to which my wife and I have always added, "..and @#$% the rest". Difficult platformer for me.

What you're spouting sounds like uneducated drivel. Have a look at some of the Saturn and PS1 comparisons on this site before you dog out the the Saturn relative to the competition.

Well from the games I've played (essentially the ones I own), the graphics aren't very good and get nauseous. I've played very little PS1, so I am unsure of how the graphics of it are. Maybe the games I have are incredibly subpar. I'm not much of a graphics person, I just don't like when it gives me a headache. This is what I have for Saturn:

Mystaria (hate this crap, so I can't comment on it much)
NHL All-Star Hockey
Virtua Fighter 2
Slam N' Jam '96
Battle Arena Toshinden
Fighting Vipers

Doom and Motocross Championship look pretty bad on the 32X.

I got a Saturn cheap when I was a kid and got only the games I could find locally for it.

I took a delivery yesterday from egameuniverse (feedback of ~160,000) on eBay.  I won an auction for the Psyclone A/V+S-Video cables for a Gamecube for ~$12 shipped, but I received cables for an Xbox instead.  They're too big to do business accurately, I suppose.  Apparently, I'm getting the right thing at some point.  A word to the wise, that seller charges about $10 S/H for anything (from Framingham, MA?!).  I've gotten Megadrive games shipped from Japan for about the same shipping.  Thankfully, the cables were pretty cheap, otherwise I wouldn't have given them a second look.  I want nicer A/V cables for my SNES than the pack-ins, and I gave away my last set of Monster Game cables to a friend in town.

I picked up one more first-party GBA-to-GC cable for $2.70, just to be absolutely sure that I've got 4 of them.  Having your collection spread all over in boxes makes it tough to remember what perihperals you've got, let alone where they are.  I've got a couple of other neat things coming from eBay auctions, but as usual, I don't post about things until they're in hand.

I didn't get into the 3D genereation at all really... I had a PS1 (I baught it and barely used it) but never liked 3D games... I got a Saturn in 01' when I realized next-gen was too expencive and more 3D. I guess I don't have a point...

The two are pretty similar. There are pretty, ugly and really ugly titles on both platforms I misinterpreted your earlier post, I thought that you were claiming the Saturn was bad relative to the PS1, when it really wasn't. 3-D games from the early-to-mid 90s aren't nearly as polished as what we've grown accustomed to now. Some 32X games look pretty good, especially when you compare them to SNES games, which was its main competition. Mortal Kombat II on 32X is IMO the best version, Star Wars Arcade is great, Virtua Racing Deluxe doesn't look that great 10 years later, but at the time it was released, it was a technical marvel.

I think that people, me included, don't always take in account the context of when a game was released, or what the hardware was capable of, or what the competion was doing when critiquing a game or the console that played it. The 32X games at the time they were released were prety great in terms of what they did, but most are primitive 3-D games that now are unpalatable. If you're looking for some good Saturn titles, look for Darius Gaiden, Golden Axe the Duel, Shining the Holy Ark, Burning Rangers, Enemy Zero, or the Panzer Dragoon games.

I took a delivery today of:

Dolphin Blue on the Atomiswave.  It doesn't include any artwork or the user's manual, but I've already printed an insert for a shockbox.  The game is akin to Metal Slug, with some sections where you fight on dolphin back.  The cart cost me $86.66 shipped and is in n. mint condition with a small dent on the underside of the cartridge.

I thought h was refering to that as well... I also look at dates, eras and class but still favor gameplay above anything visual. especially because I'm not that found of 3D...

This one didn't have a manual.  The guys at Rhino put the insert in a generic box that it fits, I can try to snag it the next time I go.

awwww... I wish you hadn't revealed that... my Road Rash II is cart only...

This one didn't have a manual. The guys at Rhino put the insert in a generic box that it fits, I can try to snag it the next time I go.

I'll have you know I have the complete and very well kept complete version of Road Rash II with registration card, EA hints hotline card and mini-poster that features all the greatest new hits from EA in the year of 1993.

thanks for the info. you gloater you.

I picked up an old PC this weekend for $0. It's a Pentium III, I slapped my old video card in (Radeon 9800 Pro) to replace the crappy one that was in it and installed Windows ME. Now I can play some of my older windows games that just don't like XP. I also picked up Call of Duty 2 and Oblivion for the 360.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Oblivion, to the tune of 140 hours or so.  I still haven't finished the main quest, but I'm close, and I've done all the faction quests, some of the settle ment quests, some of the Daedric quests, and have all of the houses.  That game really hit a chord with me.  I'd like to get Xbox live just for the Oblivion content.

That sounds like a good price for that one.

Some good pickups.  I can't usually bring myself to buy pre-8-bit stuff any more (unless it's complete) since I never play the games I already have, but that's my own indiosyncracy.

Did I mention that I was hitting eBay again? Yeah... I needed a new Game Gear because the speaker on mine appears to be blown out. Is it possible to find a GG lot that doesn't include Sonic 2 or Columns? It would appear not! At least they all have their manuals.
  1. Game Gear
  2. Carrying case
  3. Battery pack which is probably useless by now
  4. Screen magnifier that I'll never use.
  5. Game Geenie and code book
  6. AC adapter
  7. The Simpsons: Bart Meets Radioactive Man
  8. Sonic Triple Trouble
  9. G-Lock: Air Battle
  10. 5 in 1 Fun Pack
  11. World Series Baseball
  12. PGA Tour Golf 2
  13. Sonic Drift 2
  14. Sonic 2
  15. Super Monaco GP
  16. GP Rider
  17. Super Columns
  18. Tails Adventure
  19. Sonic Chaos
  20. Joe Montana Football
  21. Sonic the Hedgehog
  22. NBA Action
  23. Primal Rage

I have a special fondness for those old clunkers since the 2600 was my first ever console. It is responsible for some of my earliest memories.

My first was the Intellivision, and even though I like the memory of the games, the last time I played them, it left a "did these really look, play and sound like this?" taste in my mouth.  I guess I've become a graphics whore...for the 8- and 16-bit generation, at least.

Heh... they made sure to mention that the paddles were clean and not jittery.

Am I bad for eyeballing a Neo Geo Pocket Color with 24 games even if I don't know what games come with it?

I eyed the same thing, but the sellers never properly responded to my questions to trust 'em. All I wanted to know was how much shipping would be with insurance to Canada and I kept getting replies like "shipping is what it is." Well, yes, I know you're overcharging for shipping by about 400%, but that doesn't answer my question.

But I wanted to know additional shipping prices. Pretty bad when a seller doesn't want the buyer to pay for insurance.

Sweet.  Does he have any more games?  I'll send him a case of Diet Dr. Thunder.  Let me know what you think of the TMNT game.
