Ugh, well I was not suppose to be buying games right now, but I was stuck waiting for someone and there was a Gamestop and well... (All used, all complete) Justification in red.

XIII - PS2 - $3.59 Kind of always wanted it, finally hit my price point.

The Bouncer - $6.29 Launch title, non-RPG from Square, had not seen it for a while.

Rygar - PS2 - $6.29 See justification for XIII.

Tak and the Power of Juju - PS2 - $8.99 No idea, I must be brainwashed from reading so much Play magazine.

Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies $6.29 I think Waffle mentioned he liked this.

Kingdom Hearts 2 $35.99 Inevitable purchase, nice non GH case in good condition.

Dual Hearts $8.99 Gmsnpr said it was kinda hard to find.

Star Wars Rogue Leader Rebel Squadron $6.29 No idea.

Enclave - XB - $4.49 Noticed that Starbreeze had something to do with it and they had something to do with Riddick.

aspro73
yes. good buys... my origional AC4 got stolen by my sisters exBF and now I only have a GH one :( 2 more games till I have all the console/portable AC games (the first was an arcade game, I need Zero on Ps2 and X on PSP) duel harts be rare and good game. it took me ages to find a mint & complete bouncer still haven't found a M&C Rygar enclave is awsome, last time I saw it it was @ $11...

A pretty lucky afternoon for me today-I found:

1. Gamecube VGA cable, n. mint, loose, $4.50 link
2. Super Mario Bros., GBA, n. mint, complete, $22.50
3. e-Reader, n. mint, loose, $1.80 (already traded it in elsewhere for $15)
4. GC-to-GBA Link cable, Nintendo brand, n. mint, loose, $2.70--I think I finally have 4
4. Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse, GC, v. fine, complete, $13.50
5. NBA 2K3, GC, n. mint, complete, $4.50 (an upgrade copy as it has the NBA seal on the box)

It was used, but iirc, it's only going for 13 bucks on EB Games pre-owned.  It's $20 - $22 here preowned, still runs for about $40 new.

Oh, to the guy who bought XIII:  It's pretty short (about 7 hours) but it's a wicked game.

Went on a field trip to Des Moines, Iowa this weekend...

At Gamestop-
-ICO-$17.98 (heard it was tough to find, and a decent game)
-Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy-$7.98

At this random used game shop-
-NES Zapper, grey-$4.95
-Uninvited, NES, cart only-$12.21
-Adventure, Atari 2600-$.94
-Pitfall!, Atari 2600-$.94
-Zaxxon, Atari 2600-$.94

Now, I'm really only looking for Flash Gordon and I'll have all the Atari 2600 games I loved as a kid.  That's not saying that I'll quit buying them, but I'll have all the ones I remember.

Astroboy: Omega Factor

Obtained in a trade for a duplicate copy of Sonic 3D Blast I had for the Saturn.

I am so happy to be getting this game, I've had trouble finding it.:D

Just bought 80 Genesis games for $81, shipping included.  I have no idea what is in the lot, so should be interesting when it gets here.  I have been unmercifully Ebay sniped out of two Genesis Nomads this weekend, so I needed something to ease the pain.

I hope that there's some good stuff in that lot.  It's funny how being sniped tends to embolden one on other purchases--I've noticed the same thing for me.

I took a delivery today of 5 loose MVS carts, all in pretty good shape with factory tamper seals intact and labels in English with serial numbers on 3 of them.

1. Art of Fighting, serials
2. Fatal Fury, no serials
3. The King of Fighters '94, serials
4. Samurai Shodown, serials
5. World Heroes, no serials

Interestingly, the Samurai Shodown cart is in a colorless, transparent case, while the rest of mine are solid black.  I've seen numerous other colors for carts on auction before, but this the only one that I've seen firsthand.  The lot cost $30.51 shipped.  Shipping took a little while longer than I expected (I won the auction on October 31st), but the payoff is certainly worth it.

I don't know.  They're official as far as I can tell.  What research I've done on the topic makes it clear that there are a lot of MVS label variations that are still official.  Most counterfeiters concern themselves with AES carts since they bring a lot more on the resale market, but there are ways to tell based on the IC sets that are used in the carts.  Unfortunately, to know unequivocally, I would have to remove the anti-tamper seals as well as the actual cartridge label.  I doubt that they're phony, it'd be like counterfeiting $10 bills, but I'm not going to tear up my carts to check, either.

If I try to get a copy of something like Garou, then I'll be more concerned about cartridge provenance.

Makes sense.  Do you know if they were counterfeited back when they were being sold as new (both AES and MVS)?  Or is the counterfeiting only done now to capitalize on the collecting market?

I think that both MVS and AES games have been subject to counterfeiting efforts since they came on the market.  The most valuable ones are probably the juiciest targets.

Here's a shot of the MVS games I've got. You can't see much since it was taken with an appropriated webcam, but this is what the labels generally look like.  The bottom one reads "Operation Ragnarok" in Japanese which is the title of Zed Blade in that region.

Cool.  I'd like to get a yellow card, or at least not red, blue or black.  I''ve got a case that holds 4 cards, and I'd like to keep them color coded.

Only about $15 for each one and that goes for all of their memory cards and dualshocks. The colors they have available ATM are: The closest they have to purple is Midnight Blue. memory cards Island Blue Slate Grey Black Crystal Midnight Blue Crimson Red Lemon Yellow Emerald dualshocks Midnight Blue Ocean Blue Black Crimson Red Lemon Yellow Crystal Slate Grey Satin Silver (this one is $33 for some reason) Emerald

I went back to the local place in Shelby to check out some more stuff and picked up the following: Mortal Kombat Trilogy, N64, cart only, near mint, $7 Blast Corps, N64, cart only, near mint, $5 Final Fantasy Chronicles (non-GH), PS1, complete, EX+, $13 I also picked up Jet Force Gemini and War Gods as well, but they don't work at all, so I'm going to return them and see if they have any extra copies that do work or just look for something else completely.

I picked up a couple more things tonight.

X360 VGA cable, Microsoft brand, $14.99
The Warriors, Xbox, new/sealed, $9.98
Worms Blast, GC, n. mint, complete, $9.99

At a store in my town, they are having a drawing tomorrow night for chances to buy one of its 28 estimated PS3s.  It doesn't matter when you arrive for the drawing, as everyone only gets one ticket.  I'm probably going to enter, just to see if I get to get a PS3 at launch.  If I get one, it will be transmuted into a copy of Radiant Silvergun and a Super MVS Converter II through the magic of eBay.

As an aside, does anybody have a spare Intelligent Qube lying around?  I want to get it for my sister for Christmas but it's really rare (and also pretty expensive for the most part).  Nobody?  Bueller?...Bueller?  Didn't think so...

I've only got one copy, unfortunately. That game usually goes for, what, $45-60 on eBay? I don't keep close watch on the going price for games that I've already managed to get. Good luck and if you run into real trouble finding one in time, let me know, and we can come to an arrangement. I can find another copy later, since I'm not giving it as a Christmas gift.

Wow!!!  I really appreciate it, but I wouldn't want to take your only copy.  I've looked on ebay, and $60 wouldn't bother me too much...it's the knuckleheads who seem to think it's worth close to $200 that annoy me.

Getting towards the end of the Atari games that I want to own, maybe need 10 more tops. Not bad for only being in the Atari game for a month. :)

Final Fantasy III, DS, new, $39 I now officially own every FF game from 1-12 in some form of NA release. III was the only game in the series that didn't have a NA release until this week, of which I am sure you are all aware.

Yeah not bad. My local Atari suppliers dried up years ago. There was a heyday where I would find 10 at a time at flea markets, but not anymore. I have all the ones I want (actually, I just thought of Freeway and a second game Fishing).

Yep... Well, I have to say I saw this coming. I paid $81 for 80 Genesis carts, sight unseen, and they are all sports titles (and they only sent 75). Some duplicates thrown in and some I already have. From what I can tell every athlete in the NBA, NFL and NHL all had their own franchise of sports game.  I won't punish you by listing them here, I'll just go quietly and add them to my my collection now.  What an inglorious way to pass the 800 mark.

All loose, varying conditions.

Ah well, now you're meeting your yearly quota of EA, at least. I took a delivery today:

Columns Crown, GBA, v. fine, cart, box, and manual but no cardboard cart holder, $6.34 shipped. The box was shipped flattened and has light damage.

For Atari, Ebay is the only way. I also bought a lot of stuff off of forum members at Atariage.com.

If you want to build a quick Atari collection, especially if you don't have Activision/Atari Anthology for PS2, you can get a massive, massive collection very cheap. I wanted specific titles so it cost me more. I figured no use rebuying all the games on those anthologies, they're essentially the same and I can buy different titles with that money.

I've had some luck at some non-chain used game shops.  That's how I found two out of a possible three Swordquest games (good luck finding the third!!), among others.  The shops often don't know what they have and keep a policy of pricing super old games at a buck or two (at least here in the ever-exciting Midwest US).

Yeah around here, we don't have used game shops. I've heard it's different in different parts of North America, some pawn shops and whatnot won't even accept Atari games anymore. But generally the steals on Ebay are abundant. Especially if you buy in huge lots. I see you have a 5200, how are your controllers? I hear they bust instantly. But, I don't know how you could stand playing the Swordquest games. ;)

I took a delivery today:

Ballistic, NUON, n. mint, complete
Space Invaders XL, NUON, n. mint, complete

The pair were $32 shipped, and if you are curious about the short-lived platform or some homebrew efforts, have a look here and here. Interestingly, the game boxes are gold DVD cases. Only 7 titles were officially released in the U.S.; 3 of them are somewhat rare, including Space Invaders XL.

Final Fantasy III, DS, new, $39

I now officially own every FF game from 1-12 in some form of NA release.  III was the only game in the series that didn't have a NA release until this week, of which I am sure you are all aware.duncanr2n

I am not aware... I don't like the FF series...

I don't know about Mr. Lightfoot anywhere else.

I picked up a couple of accessories last night.

X360 power brick, loose JUNK, $12.99 and I'll return today.
N64 controller, loose JUNK, $7.99 and I'll return it today
GC component cables, n. mint, loose, $5.99
16' ethernet cable, loose, $1.99
GC broadband adaptor, $2.70
(S)NES RF switch, Nintendo brand, loose, $2.70

Funny story. I recently got a VGA cable for my 360, and I moved the system into my office, powerbrick and all and used it to play some Dead Rising while my wife was watching some TV (we've only got the 1). Well, moving the powerbrick is a pain in the ass based on the way my gaming setup is arranged, so I thought about getting a second brick to set up next to the PC, for ease in moving used 360 around. Lo and behold, I found a used one at Rhino last night for $12.99. I was interested, and I had them open the accessory case, and found some other "good" stuff in the case also. The accessories at Rhino are heat-shrinked and basically thrown into a pile, so it's sometimes difficult to tell what's what, so I didn't see what they had until I'd rifled through everything. Also, since everything is heat-shrinked, you can't see whether cables are frayed or N64 controller sticks are ruined until you open the package.

I asked the manager about how they'd gotten a spare 360 brick, and he said that their refurbishing company was no good and that the brick probably was cannibalized off of a 360 that couldn't be fixed. I asked him explicitly, "If I plug this thing in and it ruins my 360, what's my recourse?" to which he answered, "Well, since it's a Microsoft product, you'll have to take it up with them." Inspires a lot of confidence, eh?
Well, I bought it anyway b/c I'm a dumbass and I plugged it in to get the red rings of death. I switched back to my original power supply, and everything's fine, but the morons at Rhino don't know or care whether their used accessories work and it's only by the grace of God that their bought-in-good-faith power supply didn't also ruin my 360 the way that it ruined the last one it powered. So, pissed off, I unwrapped the N64 controller, and the control stick doesn't center, b/c the cable is broken, and they carefully arranged it to look pretty before heat-shrinking it. I'm taking this stuff back today and I'm going to make it clear that this **** is unacceptable and that this story is getting repeated to every game buyer who asks my opinion of Rhino games.

That was a funny story.  I cannot believe you plugged it in!  Picked up Big Bumpin' from Burger King today.  They did sell it to me without buying any other value meal etcetera -- I just askd for the game and they sold it to me, no problem.  $4.30 after tax.

I froze my **** ass off in the Canadian winter without a heavy jacket for 9 and a half hours. I almost died, that is something I would never do again. Then I was mad because I wanted Rayman and either COD3 or Red Steel and they only had 5 different games. 3 of which, Spongebob, Tony Hawk and Marvel suck. But I am alive and with a Wii.

Congrats man, I'd be happy with what you got.  I'm waiting for my Wii with my spare controller sitting idly by.

Yep, although I sound bitter, I would do it all again in the same predicament. I just would never do it again for another console simply because the Wii's controller is new. Chances are the next Wii would be similar with better graphics, so that's not as monumental. We were told there were 12 and since I was 8, I was guaranteed. It turned out to be 21 and people who came only an hour or two earlier got one, but still, the physical pain I went through was leveled by the assurance of a Wii on launch date. Hope you get yours soon, it's super fun. The only bad thing is the Wii DVD cases are the type where the disc can come out of the holder easily. My cousin I camped with had his disc loose and had to return it. So, unless I get a deal, I think I'm going to try to buy Wii stuff at stores until it gets super cheap and I start picking up games like mad.
