I'm on legendary on F1 2010, and I'm doing career in my lotus.

9th in Bahrain
Last in Melbourne
Crashed in Malaysia
4th In China
19th in Spain

Thats my results so far.

Now, my main issues are:

Throttle Control: I have always used X and square for throttle and brake, feels comfortable, but on F1 CE, I could control the balance of throttle and brake however i pleased, this i thoroughly enjoyed, this game fails to do this, I have to have TC and ABS on just to keep the car on the track.

AI: Now, as I've seen you've all mentioned this and such and I'll agree, although being in a Lotus i'd expect to have the other cars straming past me quite often, and its happened, deflating feeling yea, but thats racing and we all move on, BUT, the pit bug has caught me a few times, and in China, Senna finished 6th... He never pitted, something else the guys need to take a look at.

Qualifying: I saw this was mentioned as well, I agree as well, I do my times and I wonder where the AI get their times from, Also the same situation with F1 2009 is happening with this game, I qualifyed in Spain, Q1 was dry, Q2 was soaking, and Q3 Was bone dry... So... I'm confused here.

Tyres: Punctures are happening to often, even in the wet after putting on a brand new set of tyres, I was getting them. In Malaysia it was a wet race for me, and I found that in say 3-4 laps of use on the inters, I had the on the yellow wear status... WTF?, and In Q2 in spain, I was using the option tyres on a soaking wet track and it was handling like I could in the dry... so again, WTF?

Penalties and such has already been mentioned, and i agree with it... But those are the main things I've put down here and have experienced so far... So.. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

kipi19

I'm doing an Expert difficulty Championship for the trophy, it's very hard and frustrating.

My results are:

Bahrain - 3rd
Australia - 2nd
Malaysia - 5th
China - 3rd
Spain - 3rd
Monaco - 1st

I am leading the Championship in a RBR with Webber by 26 points.
Every race is one race though due to the toughness of playing with the aids off, one taqp from an opponent and you'll spin.

I have made R2 accelerate and L2 brake with square being shift up andXX being shift down. I'm also using the D-Pad as I find it easier to drive in F1 2010. I don't need the other buttons as the race is only one lap long.
I've also made it so I don't have to do qualifying so I always start in the top 5.
After I finish this trophy, I'll enjoy the game properly.

Punctures for me happen as soon as I start the race which results with a simple restart.
The tyres are very weird, the dry tyres in wet is a bug, you'll only handle badly if you are driving in heavy rain.

[QUOTE="KimisApprentice"]If the games weather engine can simulate wind effects then it's not unrealistic for the car to be difficult to handle from corner to corner, these cars are hugely sensitive to cross winds.Redders1989

I doubt the game even has wind.

If you look on the screen when you're in the pits on the weather page, it tells you wind speed.

So how come the other cars can go flat out but you can't?

Another annoying thing is that I have to brake at 50 metres earlier than where I usually brake so podium finishes in Expert difficulty are really good. I'm having to hold the brakes then it locks up so I have to lift off the brakes and tap it twice to even brake for a corner.

Because they are modeled on F1 drivers who have mighty good reflexes and years of experience. Unlike we commoners.

I must admit, I'm not recognising a lot of these issues. I've got to quali in race 4 and not had a puncture yet. Maybe I'm just not very good at the game yet but I'm a Lotus and not topping the practise and quali sheets. The one real gripe I've got is with a pit stop glitch..I was queueing behind my team mate in Malaysia for wet tyres and once he'd cleared the box my car just sat there with nothing happening and I had to restart the race. I'm liking the feel of controlling it with the Logitech GT wheel too.

I have won my first race but I am still not too impressed with this game. If I use anything other than easy I get lapped really quiclky as I get shunted by other cars and then penalties etc and I even got lapped after I had only gone around the circuit once. This makes me sound bad but I have experience with a lot of F1 and general racing games. This game does not seem to find a happy middle for me, its either too hard or too easy with the AI and handling and bugs. Also I notice the qualifying is not on full schedule on my career mode, its one 15 minute session and then thats it I think. I just wanted more from this game.

I've had 3 punctures as soon as the race started in an RBR 3 out of 6 races now.

Did you put long race weekend?

If you put short, you'll only get one practice and one qualifying.

There was a bug I came across twice.
The AI turned into ghosts after I had used the flashback feature and went very fast, they were uncatchable on the straights.

Ah thats why then as I do 20% race distance. I like the game premise but there are just that many issues with it that I may hold back playing it more until a patch is on.

I'm doing an Expert difficulty season with 1 lap, simply because it's too hard to control the car.
I need to do it for the trophy.

I find the AI just as bad an issue. On easy its really too easy to win, but if you go on say hard difficulty you cant do anything as the AI literally runs off and thats it, you pit in and they suddenly have a 50 second advantage even though they have pitted in just before or after you. I believe this is something to do with the fuel and tyre wear though.

On Legendary mode, the AI brakes earlier than you but ram you off more if you attempt to overtake.
This is ridiculous, I'm really hoping for a patch sometime this week.

Same here, the AI completly breaks the FIA rules by swerving around I find if I try to pass them or running me off the circuit. I think they have tried to use the Grid engine and technique but have got lost trying to fit all the rules in whilst trying to make this a game all can enjoy. Its tough for Codemasters as they have got a license that really nobody else wanted with EA and Sony dropping it amongst others.

Here is hoping they aknowledge and try and fix the issues otherwise my faith in Codemasters will be waining.

I played GRID the demo, never liked it.

Also, it seems like the AI don't have tyre degredation or fuel, they are very fast on the straights, I have to weave about in Valencia to keep ahead inExpert difficulty!
They are extremely fast on the starights and at the starts.

Look at my quote of your post, I fixed it :)

What are you playing it on btw?

I'm playing it on PS3 and doing the trophy where it says win a Championship in Expert difficulty.

I made every race 1 lap because it's already very hard as it is.

So when I get a puncture for no reason, even at the start, I simply restart it.

I have a theory about your punctures. You races are too damned short. If they scale tire durability like any good game would, you would expect softs to last half the race (Bridgestone craziness taken out of the question) on 100% length, or half a lap in your short race case.

My use of X and square is that i can control throttle with it like the analouge I just find it easier to use, I've not had difficulty setting problems with AI, i'm on legendary and doing alright on different circuits

6th in turkey
won in canada
6th in valencia...although it would of been 3rd if i didn't speed in pit lane :( plus i was 17th on the grid lol XD

Main problems i'm finding is the pits, throttle, tyres,, ghosting cars, rules and weather consistancy.

You're reacting too slow? The car is set up with too much bias to oversteer? You're correcting on kerbs? There are many potential reasons, I've heard just as many positive reviews about the game outside of this board and many saying the cars handle too well and have too much grip. It has to be said that you've spent alot of time playing GT5 prologue and while the GT series is great in my opinion it's also a piss poor simulation at times, you're probably too used to games that are a: quite a bit easier and b: not as close a simulation to real life as you first thought.

Anyway, I am playing it on PS3 too. I selected to do a long career mode and only 20% of the race. Therefore, even with a restart, it is still a not much use. Once I got a puncture on the way out of the pit!! How did that happened? :(

The game is starting to grow on me. I have put the difficulty up a notch and finished 6th in China after my win in Malaysia. It was a good race, got 13th on the grid with the Hispania. Managed to make up a few places and was ahead of both the Mclarens at one point but then made a mistake to let Hamilton past which cost me as my tyres were wearing down possibly and loosing some grip.

I did seem concerned about Heki finishing 4th in the Lotus which was either a pit error or something wierd going on. However I am still getting bugged with the second lap penalty on time trial mode where if you make a second mistake it takes out your next lap. I can understand say on the last couple of corners if people are cutting the track to get a super boost on their next lap start but not halfway around the circuit.

However if they can fix some of the issues and not have the qualfiying times preset so you dont get a true race pace reflection (i.e. because your in a Hispania you can not get pole is my understanding as the AI will just pull out a faster lap regardless of whatever you post) but I am liking this game a bit more now. I may even try hard difficulty on AI but I still will keep traction control on otherwise I willl not be getting anywhere with the handling as it can be.

It's as if that's where the AI would have been if they didn't spin, which is unfair as you would have gained a massive advantage because the AI would have to recover and would hold up some other AI.

Looks as if the game engine couldn't do anything so did that instead.

Lol that is a funny video. I've never had a glitch like that, and if you look at the completely broken state some games are pre-patch (Heavy Rain), it's not that bad. I had a glitch similar to that in Championship Edition once, though.

I don't think they are affected by fuel/degredation though.

They are too fast on the straights when I'm using an RBR.

In Valencia, Vettel is too fast on the straights, the McLarens are just gone and I'm having to weave to keep the Mercedes behind me!

So I enter the straight 1st and enter the corner after it 5th...

Reduce your downforce then, it's likely that the AI are using low donwforce, low drag set-ups.

Reduce your downforce then, it's likely that the AI are using low donwforce, low drag set-ups.KimisApprentice

I have, I've done everything possible, it also seems like the AI can slipstream off me but I can't slipstream off them...

I've read about this a few days ago on the Code Master's forum.

Apparently, your engineer talks about it but there is no way of doing it.

Proof that the AI isn't affected by fuel:

I'm doing an Expert difficulty season with 1 lap, simply because it's too hard to control the car.
I need to do it for the trophy.

But isn't the minimum 20%, or did you make a custom season?

I don't find the game's faults that bad, the AI is a million miles ahead of Championship Edition's, the only thing I find incredibly irritating is the really bad pitstop AI, a stop that would have been 3s turned into 17s and I had to restart.

I've not had the AI problem that everyone keeps going on about lol, Although the replacing itself one i saw on the youtube video I think keeps happening to me in Monza... I am currently 8th on the grid in my lotus...and after turn 1 and 2, normally an AI spins on the exit, but yet I still see them a couple of places behind :? its very confusing

Nice find... God, this game is getting more and more disappointing. :( I mean, with a full tank, the A.I. can still perform as quick as car with much less fuel, how can we race them on realistic setting? :(

ohh yea, Weather consistancy has really pissed me off with this game.

Q1: Dry
Q2: Wet
Q3: Dry

Its getting annoying.

I'm loving the develoment process of the car though, I feel it adds a really new cool dynamic to the game and pushes the player further to keep the car fast.

Yeah, the R&D feature is a nice touch but I heard performing those test can corrupt your save data!

I went to Grand Prix mode and added the entire 2010 season (there's an option to do this).

Okay, so I just finished the season on Expert difficulty and won with Mark Webber and RBR miles ahead of the nearest driver/team.

No, I expected the trophy for winning the Championship, winning the championship on Expert difficulty and the one for winning a point every race.

Well, after many hours of playing on a seemingly impossible Expert difficulty, I didn't get any of the tophies.

Something similar has happened to me on Sunday where I got pole at Monaco and won but only got the trophy for getting all three fastest sectors during my pole lap.

Needless to say that I am quite pissed off.

I got another question.
You see how it says "Win the Formula 1 Drivers' Championship on the Expert Difficulty setting", does that mean that you can do easy then on the last race do expert?
