Harrison:Â The disc contains all the bits and data on that game, which you can then give to your friend, and they can then install it on their Xbox One. No restriction on that, except that the second person obviously has to pay for it.
Â
Articuno76
Isn't the second person having to pay for it the very definition of a restriction?
He is talking specifically about restrictions on where you source the game install (physically or via download). Having both options would be be beneficial for people with slower connections or data-caps as they would only have to download they key rather than the entire game.No I know and I admit my initial reply was poorly worded but what you're saying isn't what I'm talking about.
He literally just explained how there aren't restrictions, you have options, and then casually throws in that if you borrow a physical copy from a friend or something that you'd obviously have to pay a fee.
The very reason Eurogamer interviewed him, he denies it and then immediately confirms it. I just thought it was really funny.
OMG! Now Phil is saying Xbox One has to be connected online at least once every 24 hours. HOLY CRAP! ALways ONLINE! Adam Orth you were right!
Kotaku: If Im playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?
Harrison: I believe its 24 hours.
Kotaku: Id have to connect online once every day.
Harrison: Correct.S0lidSnake
Wow! So all the shlt was true...
Like I said, where there's smoke there's fire. No way do so many people from different sources all get something so unanimously wrong.
Well. On the plus side, I don't see how this console can sound any worse, at the moment. So it can only get better from here, right?
For the new page:
Xbox ONe Needs to be online at least once a day. Always Online? No. but ONlien every 24 hours.
Kotaku: If Im playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks? The other thing to consider is this:Â
The price still hasn't been announced. I think if they go a penny over $399 with this thinkg, they are dead. Well, I think they're dead anyway, but it will take a lot longer at $399. :P
Poor Phil Harrison... always showing up with a knife to a gunfight.

Poor Phil Harrison for having to do PR for this company in this industry.
and that was the sound of microsoft games taking it's last sad farewell breath before racing off the cliff to commit suicide...Maybe not always online, but usually online...

Mmm.. nope. Because now we have to brace ourselves for the same reveals from Sony.

Exactly. People simply refused to believe that Edge,Eurogamer, VG Leaks and all other publications with MULTIPLE sources all corroborating the same story were all 100% wrong. I understand skeptism and not believing in rumors, but the way they dismissed them was pretty f*cking stupid.Â
On a side note, Phil Harrison is awesome. It's like he is still working for Sony. Â

Yeah, Phil should get an award or something. First he had to spin the PS3, which was a herculean task by any estimation. Now he has to spin this, which makes spinning the PS3 look like child's play.Â
It's still early in the day, yet. Give it another hour or two.Well. On the plus side, I don't see how this console can sound any worse, at the moment. So it can only get better from here, right?

I havent even made the BIGGEST thread yet. The only one that should matter. The specs. How powerful the console is. MS is saying they dont even care about power. They didnt even release the specs. Looks like the rumors of a weak console were true. I will make the thread soon. But this is f*cking huge. They are selling us an underpowered console. For an industry leader, thats a shitty thing to do.

At this point I'm waiting for them to announce that you have to sell your soul just to buy one of these. Seems like a logical next step.
There's rumors going around that the $300 subscription version has been scrapped. :PBigboi500
Yay?

How underpowered are we talking here? Microsoft doesn't seem like the type to skip on reasonable specs.

I don't think the difference is as big as you think it is. For all third party stuff, it won't matter anyway. My mind is blown. Microsoft just laid Sony a golden egg. Will Sony make it to the finish line with the egg intact or will they trip and smash it before they get there? I don't think I can handle both of them making moves like this. N3MO
Publishers won't allow only one of them to make these moves. Even if Sony doesn't have it built into the hardware like MS (which still remains to be seen), publishers will find a way to enforce it from their end. The question is: did Microsoft just justify it for them, or was it going to happen all along regardless?
HATE the name too. Sounds like a diet drink.

I really don't like the look of it either though that's obviously not important. It just looks very plain and square and reminds me of this:
Â
Clearly the end times are near, and MS needs souls in order to fuel their engine of calamity. Totally read that in a book somewhere. gpuFX16
It's as I said in the other thread during the conference: The Xbox is the beginning of the end -- confirmed. Never imagined a simple joke would prove true, though...

Yeah, it's definitely not going to win any beauty awards either. I like the controller... that's the only positive thing I have to say about the system.Â

Oh, and you'll still need an online connection before beginning the ritual.

Positive column:

2) ...New D-pad
A friend of mine raised a nice point: the new xbox is gigantic, can you imagine how noisy it must be?

I personally like the fact that it's a boring rectangle because in theory that means you can stack it on other thingsJML897
It's the successor to the 360... I wouldn't put it near anything. In fact, I'd pump oxygen into the cabinet if I owned one.Â

Sony already mentioned that stuff like this is left up to the publisher. I think MS is doing this to get the entire cut of the used game market for the Xbox One. Can't say that is entirely wrong but this method limits how customers can use their games. Its an anti-costumer move through and through.I personally like the fact that it's a boring rectangle because in theory that means you can stack it on other thingsJML897Or use it as an aid to reach things on a higher shelf.
Too simple--they'll require ritual sacrifices of your first, third and fifth born children on alternate Thursdays under a full moon. Oh, and you'll still need an online connection before beginning the ritual.Hallenbeck77
Also: any friends you bring along have to pay an additional $60 to even start the ritual (in addition to your own down-payment). Because why not.

What are you, a pirate? This is all so that those dirty hacker thieves don't win.
It also doesn't have an external power brick from what I've heard, which means the thing will also probably get pretty hot pretty quickly.A friend of mine raised a nice point: the new xbox is gigantic, can you imagine how noisy it must be?

I agree also holy crap this news is depressing...fl4tlinedThe used games block thing? It is depressing. It's also funny in a hysterical, insane sort of way. I hope people are smart enough not to buy this xbox. Although any industry does need competirton to remain advantageous for us the consumers.

Read the other thread i just posted. They did exactly that. Putting Kinect in every console was always going to increase the costs. They chose Kinect over high end graphics.Â

I generally find physical copies of console games for pretty much the same price of Steam offers, maybe just a bit more.Black_Knight_00
Ok, I have to call you out on this. We're from the same region and this is just impossible. Right now Steam is offering Dead Space for 2,49 euros and Dead Space 2 for 7,49 euros.
If you can find me a place that's offering console versions of these games for anywhere near that price, well give me links because I'll definitely be buying some console games there myself.

Friends of mine have bought Dead Space for £0,98 last year on GAME.co.uk. I've bought a mountain of games for the same price in the same sale. Dead Space 2 i got for 19euro a couple months after release and I've often seen it for 10 bucks.Zavvi sells new games and the average price for a 6 months old game is 15-18euro
There is such an overwhelming backlash from the community. Â Nearly everything I've read from here and GAF is negative. Â I have to think that some of these policies will change between now and the launch. Â Excuse me, I mean their PR people will backpeddle and try to convince us that these policies were never in place to begin with.
