At least we found out Hedo does an okay job guarding Kobe. I think we'll be seeing more of that the rest of the series because he scores everytime Lee is on him and Pietrus picks up a ton of fouls. Like I said, at least get some size on him to make him take tougher shots because Kobe will shoot over Lee all day and post up Lee all day.
I'm glad Van Gundy ran that lineup with Hedo running the point because Alston and Nelson weren't doing anything.
Magic played horrible first half, picked it up in the second, but those two misses by Courtney Lee at the end hurt...
I also am not opposed to seeing Anthony Johnson play when Alston and Nelson are playing bad. I don't think he's played a single minute in the finals yet.
I swear... the Lakers' hater bandwagon is bigger than its fan one. I don't really get why anyone would hate a sports team :lol:elpooz
Jealousy,
Â
Let's go Lakers! Two more wins, baby!
I swear... the Lakers' hater bandwagon is bigger than its fan one. I don't really get why anyone would hate a sports team :lol:elpoozbecause the lakers are always winning, and lakers fans are mostly bandwagoners anyways...nothing worse than to see a team full of bandwagon fans win....doesn't help that Kobe Bryant is a douche.

Not really. All Lakers fans I know personally have been on board for a long time, even through their recent drought. Saying we are always winning isn't true either. We have seen some rough times in the 2000s. Sure, we had the 3-peat, but shortly after we fell off HARD. Plus, we have lost countless championships to Boston.Â
Hating a team because they win a lot and have bandwagon fans just sounds dumb lol. I mean you could hate the fans for being bandwagon fans, but hating the team they follow just doesn't make sense. You mad because the queens are balls atm?

on board for a long time...lol, how many were hopping on board during that drought? not many...how many were born lakers fans because of family, or because they live in LA...not many. Oh, they became fans during the 3-peat? Or because Kobe is on the team? Or recently since the team got Gasol? That sounds about right....Lakers fans are bandwagoners. It's just like a lot of Yankee fans that don't live in the north east. id like to see how many lakers fans are also clippers fans....or ****, how many of them know who the clippers are.lol, so being in the bottom half of the west, and missing the playoffs once or twice is falling off hard? LOL, thats a joke right? Most teams who were as good as you guys in the late 90s/early 00s are rebuilding, or just getting out of a rebuilding stage. See: The Knicks, Kings, Philadelphia, Indiana, New Jersey, Toronto, Minnesota, etc.

Well, everyone I know have been fans because of their older brothers (like me) or parents. Saying that Lakers fans are bandwagoners is making a huge generalization. Yes, they do have bandwagon fans... but not all fans are.Â
Going from winning 3 championships in a row and then not making the playoffs next season is falling off hard. Maybe they didn't hit rock bottom, but they declined greatly.Â
I remember when I specifically got into the Lakers in 2nd grade and that was when we had Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Cedric Ceballos, and Kobe when he was a rookie but he didn't start because the coach was an idiot. It wasn't like they were a great team or anything, they did make the playoffs but they didn't have enough during those years to make it to the finals until we got Phil Jackson after he left the Bulls, dropped eddie jones and they decided to start Kobe which they should have done earlier. Looking at what fans we had during the 90's and now we still have the same amount of fans, they were always there.
During the 90's Lakers were still a pretty dam good team so it's pretty much impossible to be a bandwagoner unless you were a fan after they won their first championship. Even when we didn't make the playoffs in 2005 we still had the same amount of fans during those years. The one thing that kept the fans coming back was Kobe Bryant, love him or hate him he was the most exciting player on the Lakers and fans knew what he was capable of.
If you look back in 2006 before we had Gasol and had a roster that consisted of Kwame Brown and Smush Parker as our starters you could say our fans were just as loud as the ones in 1999-2000.
if you want to see a team with bandwagon fans just take a look at Boston. When they chanted MVP to Kobe in their own arena before they got KG and Ray Allen

but most are....ask someone in another country outside of the U.S. what their favorite basketball team is...they'll say the Lakers, Knicks, and maybe the Celtics....ask somene about baseball, and they'll probably say the Yankees...football and they'll probably say the Cowboys. thats bandwagon dawg. ask a girl why she roots for the Lakers, and she'll probably say 'cause Kobe is her hubby. generalization or not, that's truth. the fact that halftime is a laker fan, but he lives in philly...not to say halftime is a bandwagoner, but that's how much effect the lakers have...kings went from WCF to 8th in the west in 2 seasons....you guys weren't even in the bottom half of the league, you guys would still make the playoffs and ish...the lakers had a minor drop, and then spiked back up....the fact that kobe was *****ing about the roster because you guys weren't one of the top 4 western teams for like 3 seasons is ridiculous in itself. what a whiny *****...makes me hate him more.
none of this detracts from my point...the crowd was just as loud, but all of the lakers fans went into hibernation until they got pau gasol in that ridiculous trade. i respect anyone who was a lakers fan before kobe though...i def. remember the cedric ceballos, and eddie jones days too...and nick van exel was my dude...martian looking mother****er....that was when the lakers had vlade too.I remember when I specifically got into the Lakers in 2nd grade and that was when we had Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Cedric Ceballos, and Kobe when he was a rookie but he didn't start because the coach was an idiot. naw homie, we were very fortunate to get Gasol but at that point even before we got Gasol we were #1 in the western conference standings ahead of the hornets. So we were doing just fine without Gasol, and our fans were definitely still there. None of my friends that I know of who were laker fans didn't go into hibernation before we got Gasol, we still went to Laker games and sat in the nosebleeds and cheered for them. Even in 2006 against the Suns when we were the #7 team, most laker fans knew that we had a chance to beat them. We were freakin' up 3-1 on them and they were the #2 team in the western conference and they came back and beat us, probably the most disappointing series loss ever but no Laker fans I knew went into hibernation after that.
Ask yourself these questions: if Kobe and Gasol left the Lakers would they still be your fave team? If the Lakers were 20-62 for the next 10 years would you still support them? If you answer yes, then thats what I consider a true fan of a team.
I have friends who seem to be fans of a single player and only root for that team because of that one player. I live in freaking Florida and I had friends suddenly calling themselves "diehard Cavs fans," and its obviously because of Lebron, the Cavs leading the league in wins, all that "Witness" crap, the commercials, the ESPN hype, and everything else. Not being a bandwagon fan would mean that if Lebron does leave for NYC to play for the Knicks, you'd still be a fan of the Cavs. And I already know all my friends who suddenly became Cavs fans this year will just follow Lebron if he does leave...
Shaq left for the Lakers, Penny got traded the Suns, and we went through years where Darrell Armstrong was our best player... and I'm still here. Darrell Armstrong is that dude though.
Darrell Armstrong mix
I remember one game where we were playing the Nuggets and Tim Hardaway had just gotten ejected and was so mad that he went of to the scorer's table and picked a television up and threw it onto the basketball court. So Darrell Armstrong picks the TV up and carries it back to the scorers table, plugs it back in, and then turns it on:lol:

One of the things I'll always remember about that Lakers team prior to Shaq/Kobe is Magic Johnson coming out of retirement to play that 1995-1996 season after sitting out the past 5 years. Do you guys remember when he bumped that ref that season and got suspended for three games:lol:

lol man, I forgot he came outta retirement for that season. A buncha the other players were all shook, thinking they would catch aids playing against Magic...I know this is going off topic but this is regards to Orlando's question. I stick with the teams no matter how bad they become. for example I'm a raiders fan and have been since I was a kid, most people wonder why I don't root for the Chargers because they're the team that's closest to me but I grew up watching the raiders and as bad as Al Davis has been I still stick with them no matter what just like I will when Kobe and Gasol retires
