The fact of the matter is we have a bunch of guys claiming how "manly" they are or what "manly" is by posting a bunch of pictures of scantly clad men of "flexing".. In how perfect their bodies are, to flat out worshiping them.

Agreed, obsessing over other men... is not manly... and googling and posting pics of them oiled up in speedos, is even less manly. These are typically things a woman would do.... and being a woman is not manly.

If by "real men" you mean insecure men who feel they need to act "extra masculine", no those are the "new breed."

The old breed of men were comfortable with themselves, and could be gentle or rough depending on the situation.

Your grandpa didn't need a skull tattoo to prove he was a badass.

Your dad didn't need to point at his chainsaw.

Just the way they carried themselves, calm, steady eyes, you knew they were not to be trifled with.

Up until the day he died, my dad was 180 pounds and ripped, iron discipline, spent 2-3 hours a day gardening and home improvement, loved to dress sharp, loved to dance, played guitar, treated me with all love and care but could easily whoop my 240 pound "computer tough" ass.

If I become half the man, I will be proud of myself.

i do not think Sergio is the best person who has ever existed. i believe he is the standard others should be based on.

His near perfect physical form, intelligence, work ethic, his general character and him rescuing the entire Cuban weightlifting team from communist cuba.

It is pretty obvious you have a hard on for this guys physique if this is the first and only example to great men in history.. Hell even modern history... Which I find hilarious.. Enson Inoue, however, besides being a fighter that's tough as nails (Frank Shamrock described his fight with Inoe, as the toughest fight of his career and thought that he was going to die in that fight), has shown very admirable traits in terms of going above and beyond to help and keep helping. He has now dedicated his life to help the victims of Northern Japan, by spending nearly all of his money to feed, clothe and provide any help he can, even to stray animals, venturing north to irradiated areas.

He's now organising a walk across all of Japan, after having done numerous pilgrameges. But no, you don't have to be a fighter to be a real man. My post was just to deflate the notion of looking like a beefcake is the equal of being a real man.
