Danish cartoonist attacked at home

Police shot a Somali man wielding an ax and a knife as he tried to break into the home of an artist whose cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb-shaped turban outraged the Muslim world.

The head of Denmark's intelligence agency, Jakob Scharf, says a 28-year-old man with ties to al-Qaida attempted to enter Kurt Westergaard's home in Aarhus Friday night. But Westergaard pressed an alarm and police arrived minutes later.

The attack on the artist, whose rendering was among 12 that led to the torching of Danish diplomatic offices in predominantly Muslim countries in 2006, was "terror related," Scharf said. He said the man would be charged with attempted murder.

Officers arrived two minutes later and tried to arrest the assailant, who wielded an axe at a police officer. The officer then shot the man in a knee and a hand, authorities said. Nielsen said the suspect was hospitalized but his life was not in danger.

Wow, shot in the knee and the hand, perhaps we should start sending US cops abroad to learn how to shoot. Seems everytime anyone gets shot in this country they were always aiming in just a general direction and just happened to hit vital organs.

Once again, he is merely a cartoonist who was paid by his employers to make a random cartoon, nothing else, not any "psychological warfare" involved, no direct attack on islam or any hatred for muslims in general

or denying that slavery ever happened ,or go out and say that all those that have made claims of abuse against Church are nuts,you think that it would be accepted just as my own opinion or would i be called some other names.I accept Freedom of speech but why didn't all papers publish or TV stations show those pictures if they were just piece of harmless fun ?

Holocaust survivors and their families,Descendants of slaves,victims of abuse (3 examples only) how would they feel ?

He has freedom of speech, so he can draw whatever he wants, but he has to be able to deal with the conseqcuences.
