We don't get as many guns in the Uk but they might set off your fire alarm and then detonate a bomb on the assembly point.

By posting pictures of Nazi's rounding up Jews you are comparing America to Nazi Germany. If the only way you can defend guns is to compare your government to Nazis then maybe moving out of the country would be a better solution than getting a gun.

That or patriotic fervor. See: War on Terror, Patriot Act.
Our rights have been limited, taxpayer money has been severely mispent, and many policies have even intruded on our rights.
You can't have a country where all rights are suppressed but gun ownership isn't. But you can have a country where there aren't so many rules and regulations and where rights are respected and reasonably limited. There's nothing wrong with government. As Washington said, government is like fire. It's both good and bad but necessary.

You calling these weapons by a different name doesn't change the weapons I'm talking about. I don't know why this is so hard for you to grasp.
-Sun_Tzu-
When you use meaningless marketing terms, it suggests you don't know what you're talking about, and therefore it is impossible to grasp your meaning. Use the correct language.

Did you not grasp what gun I was talking about when I referred to it as an assault weapon? If I call a bmw 320i a m3 for example would think I knew anything about bmw's??That is how I feel when I hear people calling semi-auto ar-15's assualt weapons. Even a novice should be able to tell that an assault weapon fires multiple rounds with one trigger pull.

They have no idea what you mean when you say "assault weapon". For many people, this term implies that it's a fully automatic weapon. Many people use the term to make the weapon sound much more deadly than it actually is, as if it's a rambo-like machine gun that shoots rounds the size of baseballs. In reality, it's a semi-automatic weapon, just like your standard pistol, which most commonly fires a .22 (something that you'd hunt, say, a rabbit with). Just because you use the term and assign it to something like an AR-15, doesn't mean you know anything about the AR-15 other than what it looks like.
Just because I know what a Ferrari 438 Italia is doesn't mean I know anything meaningful about it.

I know exactly what I mean when I say assault weapon - it's a vague term that applies to a wide range of firearms, and in this case I've used the term to refer specifically to the bushmaster rifle that Adam Lanza used. Moreover, an in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of firearms isn't really necessary for the argument I've been making throughout this thread - it's much more rooted in psychology and economics - I could've easily just been referred to the rifle used as a widget and that wouldn't have altered the crux of my argument in any way.My argument in its most general form is that it's very difficult for people as socially alienated as Adam Lanza was to get their hands on black market widgets. What these widgets actually are doesn't really matter.

I'm not a part of that exchange, so my interpretation is irrelevant. I'm simply telling you that you if you want to talk about firearms with people who are knowledgeable on the subject, don't use the term "assault weapon."
