Over a sextillion stars in the universe. Chances are pretty high at least one of them has a planet in its solar system that can sustain life.
There are trillions of grains of sand on the beach, does that mean one of them is intelligent?0rbsThere is no primary example of any grain of sand being intelligent. The assumption that there must be life elsewhere is that we already have a single example of it occurring.
Every day that passes with no confirmations of alien life, lowers the possibility of there even being alien life.

yeah but my pastor said that's because it's god's will.

That is a shockingly bad analogy...wow.
The possibility of life existing elsewhere in the universe, 100%.
Our galaxy alone have around 300 billion stars If you were hypothetically take 1/100,000 stars with the right spectral types, heavy element compositions and ages, there would be an assuming number of 3 million stars capable of producing enough energy for life on the planets surface. Considering that many of these stars are in the billions of years old, the chances of multi celluar life to exist around other stars system is extraordinary high to a near certainty.
[QUOTE="0rbs"]yeah but my pastor said that's because it's god's will.ZevianderOMG this seriously made me lol. My reaction to that pic:
Yes, intellilgent, not intelligent, all shapes and colors and whatnot. However, I also believe that space travel will only take us to a relatively small distance. That is, we may send some of us to the very ends of our Solar System and maybe a bit farther than that, but that's it. And those intelligent life forms from other planets, advanced as they may be, will more than likely be more or less just as limited with their own space travels. You need to be several times faster than the speed of light to travel the kinds of distances required for any kind of contact to be even remotely possible. There are talks about wormholes and stuff, but I just don't see it happening for anything or anyone that's composed of matter.Â
I believe it's possible, but for there to be life, there have to be specific conditions. For example, if the planet is too small or too big, or is too far away from the sun, for example, it won't happen...If not, no life.hydralisk86
That's actually very hard to say. Given the size of the universe and the possibilities that theoretical infinity brings, there may be some forms of life that endure (and actually require) insanely hot temperatures to live, and breath... I don't know, chlorine or something.
The deeper we dive into the ocean, the more we find weird and borderline disturbing shit that changes everything we know about life and what it requires. And that's just our own ocean. Â

Hi a. :PNope. There hasn't been any credible proof that has persuaded me.KemonojinSo basically you prefer not believing until actually seeing one for yourself.
It's a possibility, but I believe they'd be nothing like us.
Think about it. Think about all the strange things (accidents if you will) that occurred in our evolution to make us what we are now. The fact that we have to inhale constantly to live. The fact that we have to eat other organisms to survive. The fact that every species has two sexes that are required to get together to reproduce.
Extra territorial life will most probably not share all of those charismatics.
