Nothing should ever change. Well, guess the blacks in America have to go back to being slaves now then.

Herp [QUOTE="0rbs"] Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. My wife and I talked to our pastor today and he made a great point. If aliens are real how why come are they not in th bible? God laid out his plan and it doesnt look like aliens are in the cards. Looks like this one is in the books. Aliens are great for thr movie business though!

Derp Either trolls or idiots Take your pick

Or both, and I say for all we know, there could actually be a planet out there in the universe where Goblins and/or Fairies do actually exist on said planet, if not other planets, then definitely in different universes, there's so little we know about space that I think its possible for there to be other universes as well.

Considering the size of the universe, I find it incomprehensible that there isn't some other form of intelligent life out there. Though I highly doubt extra terrestrials have ever visited earth.

Look who's talking. Also, I see commas used between my sentences. And periods after each sentence. If you think those are run-ons you don't know what run-ons are.

[QUOTE="CecilChups"][QUOTE="bigfoot2045"]

There are roughly 400 billion stars in the milky way galaxy, billions of galaxies in the universe, and planets seem to be extremely common. We've found around 1000 planets just in nearby star systems. Out of those trillions of possiblities, I find it highly unlikely that Earth is unique in the universe in harboring intelligent life. However, I find it highly unlikely that we could ever make contact with alien life. We would need to be able to travel many times the speed of light, and I'm just not sure that's possible. But who knows, 100 years ago, traveling to the moon would have been inconceivable and we've done it, and even as recently as the 1990s a device like the iPhone was Star Trek level sci-fi stuff. Could knights fighting with swords 1000 years ago ever have conceived of nuclear weapons that can destroy entire continents? We could see some insane advances in technology that would make FTL travel possible. Human technology has defied all odds and done incredible things many times before.

bigfoot2045

Too bad human technology is also bad in a lot of ways. Like the atomic bomb.

The atomic bomb isn't even all bad. It might one day save us from a near earth impact.

Also, you touch on a good point, which is that war has always been a huge motivating factor in the advancement of technology. Our current space faring technology is largely a result of WW2 and the Cold War. I have a feeling if an alien invasion ever happened, we would see our technology advance hundreds of years overnight, assuming we survive the initial onslaught. This is the premise of many sci-fi novels, like Ender's Game.

The aliens would be doing us a favor. We clearly aren't capable of taking care of the world because of our greed and selfishness (pollution, using the worlds fossil fuels). The aliens would probably put it to better use than us.

Yes. Microbial life thrives throughout the universe. However, a highly advanced alien race would be far more rare. I believe only a few of those exist in the universe.

If science held to an idea stubbornly in spite of new information and evidence, and refused to change, it wouldn't be science. It would be religion.

[QUOTE="RandoIphF"]On topic, if their is no intelligent life anywhere but here, it's an awful waste of space. Planets in the habitable zone of their stars are much, much more common than we ever previously imagined. (especially around red dwarf stars) Their has also been gas giants in that zone, which means the potential for their moons to harbor life as well, should they have any.MuD3
this is an interesting observation, i would like to hear a rebuttal from some sort of theist... if we are made by a creator and are special and unique in the universe, what could all that space be for? according to one theist in this thread there is no aliens because they are not in his sacred book... is space and all the other planets in your book? why are they there?

Theism doesn't mean that you believe that we are special and unique in the universe

I agree.  A life without god isn't a life at all.  Maybe if we can find proof of aliens in the bible, maybe a lost scripture, we might have something on our hands.  Until then, it's a closed book.

You really have been brainwashed haven't you? I'm not afraid to say I hope I never meet anyone like you in real life as I would probably fly into a blind rage. The stupidity you exhibit is just beyond belief. You actually disregard facts and take a made up book as the final word and the gospel truth. I'm speechless.

There's all kinds of chemistry that would work for life other than our water/carbon life here on Earth. Silica or boron-based life would be incredibly exciting.

Yes I think there's life out there. No, I don't think it's ever been here.

There may even be life in our own solar system on moons, Titan and Europa being two good possiblities. Europa looks very promising with its water ocean and oxygen atmosphere. At the very least these are promising spots for human colonization.

Hmm you mean seurface.. Europa doesn't have a atmosphere. Titan is the only moon with a atmosphere.

Ignore them, some people can't be saved!..

 god is good brother

My grandson brought up a good point.  People keep trying to say that micro-organisms are alien life.  If so I have a whole bunch of aliens in my bath tub.  Might as well call roswell up and tell them they have competition!  Man it scares me that people aren't free thinkers.

What is so hard to grasp about the concept of "alien", as in extra-terrestrial? And ROFL "free thinker".

Another thing my grandson mentioned is the oldest person to ever live documented was Jeanne Calment and was 122 years old.  But as we all know Methuselah was 969 in the bible. Which is a lot older in my book! lol!  Gets you thinking about inaccuracies, like who really is the youngest person to ever live ?

Is 'who is the youngest person to ever live' some kind of cheat question or are you speaking in tongues or what? Do you mean the first caveman? No, that would make him the oldest.. but the youngest at his time.. perhaps you mean the youngest person to ever live freely? But free of what? *brain explodes*
