Ecuadorian embassy in Britain grants Assange asylum. British authorities threaten to revoke diplomatic status of embassy and arrest Assange anway to extradite him to Sweden for rape and assault charges. Ecuador gets pissed at Britain and yells, "colonial times are over". Wonder if this is a job for Soap McTavish?

It's all symbolic, there's no way he will be able to get out of there without getting arrested.

I have mixed feelings on this. One one hand he is an accused rapist and should be trialed. But on the other hand the human rights laws state that everybody has to have a fair trial, with all this political nonsense going on there will be a high chance of corruption going on.

They're Latinamerican so that's enough to feel identified with european colonisation.

They've been independent for quite a while now. It's almost like the US yelling "THE COLONIAL TIMES ARE OVER!!!!" at Europe.

There are still disputes specially between Argentina and the UK. And the psychological and economic control hasn't really ever dwindled. Before any Lationamerican country would do whatever the anglosphere said, they were controlled. It's time for Latinamerica to really become independent and this is a step in the right direction. It's time Latinamerica starts to stand to those who think they can dictate how the world should work.

Argentinia are obviously in the wrong though. But i'm going off topic now.

Because the Falkands were and still are part of the British Empire. And the people there are mostly of British descent and have nothing in common with Argentina whatsoever. Just because Argentina is in South America doesn't mean this has anything to do with Ecuador and it's old ties with Spain.

If they hand the over to Sweden the US will bully Sweden in giving him to them so they can kill him. Britain does not care what happens to him or what's morally right there just going with America AS USUAL

The whole Wikileaks thing has proven morality is not the primary concern of countries like the US and the UK. Save to say morality is not their primary concern now either.

Because he applied for political asylum and they granted him it...

Anyway, I'm mixed on the issue. I want to see him have a fair trial over his rape allegations, but I do not want to see the guy extradited to the US at all.

So? They shouldn't have granted him political asylum when he's been charged with criminal violations in another country.

You're right, it hasn't been proven. Thats why he should go to court so that they can prove or disprove whether he did it or not.

What a silly idea. That is not how the criminal court systems work. You have to bring the defendants to trial. Otherwise why have law.

You cant really think they would threaten to invade an embassy just to arrest a sexual offender? Break international law just for that? You know they care much much more about his work then what he might have done to a certain woman. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/374139/20120815/assange-ecuador-britain.htm

Using that logic we should not try anybody and shut down the whole legal system.

You cant really think they would threaten to invade an embassy just to arrest a sexual offender? Break international law just for that? You know they care much much more about his work then what he might have done to a certain woman. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/374139/20120815/assange-ecuador-britain.htm

You can't think Ecuador would give asylum to just a regular sexual offender do you?

Of course not, thats my point. The elephant in the room that nobody in the news is talking about is that America and her allies want to shut Assange up because of what he does.

Don't trust Governments or people in suits we have learnt that many a time. The cracks will start to show in a few years how the government's bullied other governments into doing what they want and countries giving in accept Ecuador that country has morals

Okay. But wouldn't it be easier for a group of mercenaries to be hired...or military commandos sent into to take care of the problem? That would be what governments would do rather than a rape trial in Sweden....no?

Look the dude has been accused of a crime. I see no reason why he shouldn't face his accuser. Period. By your thinking then Hitler and Stalin are the little guys.
