Without immigrants many states would have a decreasing population. Not to mention, finding a good way to 'legalize' illegal immigrants means new sources of income taxes. It's not like illegals don't already use our services, it's time to get our money back from them.

i have nothing against immigrating, they should go through the proper channels but other then that, the states should be open to all. its how the country was founded and its how it reached glory.

Which country's health care are you talking about? This legislation we're talking about in this thread took place in the U.S.

My dad's probably going to rant about this at the next family thing, and be damned sure the liberal death squads will be going door to door seizing our guns and bibles. When my grandmother dies, I'm changing my name.SteveTabernacle

My grandmother is likely going to yell at me and curse me because I voted for Obama. Even though I'm not happy about this bill.

Amen. This whole healthcare bill thing is a terrible thing this country had to pass. I could not believe that they passed it the way they did, our forefathers are rolling in their graves as we speak, this isnt the country they ment for us to have.

You're going to pay for them regardless. Whenever anybody citizen or otherwise, uses emergency rooms the cost is pushed back on the hospital, then your insurer, then you. The hope is that by providing preventative health care to the uninsured, costs are reduced in the long run.

I'm not OK with paying for them in any way, shape, or form. I understand the point of it, but I'm still not OK with it. They don't deserve to be here and they need to be deported with any debt that they have accrued.

The fact that illegals are covered is complete horse****. This redistrobution of wealth in this country alone is getting out of control and now we are redisributing it to people who arent even citizens...

This whole bill is just one big GIANT FAIL. All college students out there that have student loans... ALL OF YOU. Guess what?? With this bill the government now owns you. Yup. Its true. With this bill the government seized control of all student loans.. Here's a source, but there are many others out there if you dont like this one: http://www.investmentadvisor.com/news/2010/3/Pages/House-Passes-Student-Loan-Makeover.aspx

Just like the stupid credit protection act this is going to blow up in Obama's face and we are going to be stuck with the bill.

Granted, but you not being okay with it is hardly going to rectify the situation. Stemming the tide of illegal immigration and deporting illegal immigrants is an entirely seperate issue to health care reform, one which I suspect (like abortion and end of life counselling) has been brought up to attempt to derail a piece of legislation which is far more general in intent. If, as the independent Congressional Budget Office predicts, the current bill does reduce the US deficit by over a trillion dollars in the next decade, effectively reducing the cost to you of illegal immigrants using US health care, is that not a good thing?

I agree that they should not be covered, however a lot of them do jobs that many of us wont do, and for a low cost.. What they dont do is pay taxes... so they dont pay taxes and they get free health care.

Whatever... Obama just sealed his fate in 2012

As your own article states, the government already owned students, since it guaranteed the risk already on student loans.

Doubtful. While health care is a divisive issue, it's not one most Americans consider priority. His ability or inability to handle the economy and reduce unemployment will be the key election issue.

Universities borrowed money from banks, who in turn borrowed the money from the government. They just cut out the middle man. My school already switched to direct lending from the government this year, so it really has no effect on me.

Immigration reform will probebly be worse, and i can already see the sporadic violance that will most likly happen (i hope it won't though)

EDIT: no public option will is a downer though. And if republicans win 2012, killing it would be suicide.

But would they be Americans doing the jobs? The reason illegals are so attractive to many employers is because they can pay them a pittance, and they don't have to offer them sick leave, holiday, overtime, or any other rights guaranteed to American citizens. Best of all, they have constant leverage over them in that they can inform the authorities of their presence. It's not much of a stretch to say that if only American citizens were present as labour, many businesses would simply hire fewer staff, or outsource to other countries.

Trust me, Republicans will not win as the party of "no", if by some miricle by Zeus they win, they will not remove the bill. Republicans are humans and by following human logic: more Power=good, less Power= Bad. They want power as much as everyone else.

Its not the americans who are mad, its a few influencial people who are. And by Influence they spread that hate. Hilter did the exact same thing, made a scapegoat to futher his own goals, the popes did the same thing with the crusades. This anger is maufactered.

I don't get the whole opposition to immigration reform. Wouldn't any supporter of liberty want to bring them here? I think that I would support Obama's immigration reform bill, provided that it doesn't turn out to be a big handout.

Universities borrowed money from banks, who in turn borrowed the money from the government. They just cut out the middle man. My school already switched to direct lending from the government this year, so it really has no effect on me.

i've been paying the gov't for my school loans for the past 8 years and pay little interest.. my gf has private loans though a bank and gets killed on interest payments... OMG teh socialism!

[QUOTE="kittyloaf69"]The fact that this bill covers illegal immigrants is beyond me. I'm not happy that money is going to come out of MY check to cover people who don't belong in this country.Xorital

Amen. This whole healthcare bill thing is a terrible thing this country had to pass. I could not believe that they passed it the way they did, our forefathers are rolling in their graves as we speak, this isnt the country they ment for us to have.

Our forefathers were racist biggots that felt that the average person should not vote, and government should be solely in the hands of the elite aristocracy that existed during the time.. There are many things to learn about the founding fathers.. But some how claim that they are still the best people to look to for aid is ridiculous, they were still a product of their time.

Wow, i find myself agreeing with you too much lately. the love of them is dogma. even if they were good, why should we follow their way of life? They arent divine. They didnt know what would come about in the future.

In reality people around the time of the founding fathers were still trying to learn to be civil creatures and considering most of the public were not and not very well educated at all it made the most sense at the time of how they felt who should vote and who should not. Secondly one thing that they did not want and it has happened now for years is big government. This healthcare plan just makes the government bigger then it already is. Its a shame really.

big government is not necessarily a bad thing. Also, if you dont like people being uneducated then they should have provided public education. It makes perfect sense.

we might as well put on our rags and send our praise to ''king obama'' at this point. I guess he will tax us to the point of poverty and erect a monument of himself and declare himself ''eternal ruler of america'' as we slowly withdraw back to the stone ages he will live in a castle and kill all who question him.

(of course I hope my above post isnt taken seriously, I still say hes one of the worst presidents we have ever elected)

If he was King Obama, why would he create a program that would benefit the public and not his own power?

Kind of hard to provide a public education when the country isn't in your control now is it?

Also why don't you look at India 10-15 years ago when government was involved in everything. How people should live, work, run businesses. You know what happened no one could own a business because there was so much paper work and moneythat was involved to make sure employees were taken care of andall sorts of regulations which put society at a stand still because nothing could move forward. Now look at India, because the government laid off and allowed their people to breath they are a very properous and growing country. Governmentinvolvment is fine but there has to be balance.

I agree that they should not be covered, however a lot of them do jobs that many of us wont do, and for a low cost.. What they dont do is pay taxes... so they dont pay taxes and they get free health care.

Whatever... Obama just sealed his fate in 2012

Danm_999

It doesn't matter if they do jobs "many wont do." Because there are always people who will do the work, all illglas do is TOOK ER JERRRBS. (Insert South Park redneck picture here.)

You can say whatever you want. The point is that they are ILLEGAL immigrants.

Are you kidding? The average person shouldn't vote. This last election was decided because it turned into a popularity contest. The average American is too stupid to vote.
