Okay I didn;t agree with Happy Meals being suspended in certain areas but I at least understood the reasoning behind....but this is just rediculous.....what's next?....maybe we can get rid of Easter Baskets...Christmas Stockings.....hell lets do away wiht Trick or Treating while we are at it... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42929672 Movement underway to remove chocolate milk from school cafeterias Minnesota seventh-Grader Richard Zent often leaves the lunch room with a chocolate milk-mustache. "I think it's really tasty, it's really good," he says. Others argue his lunches could be a little less luscious and more wholesome without the treat. "Why do we have to supplement their sugar at school? They get so much sugar. I mean, my kids are inundated with sugar," Angela Fiedler, Otter PTO President, says. Fiedler just returned from Mom Congress on Education and Learning in Washington D.C. where there was a lot of discussion on the issue. She admits her kids eat sugary foods on occasion, but says the school should serve as a role model for healthy choices. "We're trying to promote this healthy food awareness, but yet we're not setting very good examples for them," Fiedler says. "They're getting their calcium that way, if they take the chocolate milk," cafeteria manager Becky Shearer says. Shearer argues chocolate milk has a lot more nutritional value than a can of pop. She says she worries without chocolate milk as an option the kids would stop drinking milk altogether. this is just stupid...the food at most cafeterias suck anyway..so lets get rid of one of teh few enjoyable options the kids have.....maybe if they worried about Gym class being taken away and recess being done away with instead of the chocolate milk....you kids wouldn;t be a buch of fat asses......

We never had chocolate milk at school. Only regular milk... and I'm not even sure schools have that anymore (in the UK).

They should. Apparently chocolate milk has more fat than a Big Mac burger. I understand the sugar thing because sugar is what makes the chocolate taste good but why does it have to have so much fat? That just seems like ridiculous.

They need to start, you know, feeding the kids healthy foods first rather than take away semi-unhealthy foods. I think my elementary school would have gone a long way if they replaced my Pop-tart with an apple.

Pimp-slap the person that told you that. Big Macs have 4x the amount of fat in chocolate milk.

Well these kids wont starve if they don't get their precious chocolate milk, and they might loose a few lbs in the process so I don't really see the argument against this. Sure I agree gym classes should be more important, but promoting a healthy diet any way possible is a good thing especially if you can get them at an early age.

I think that's just a kind of chocolate milk. The milk that the serve in cafeterias is cut in with other things like soy oil which makes them far fattier than Big Mac burgers. Also, it's always about the serving size. THose milk containers are like 2 servings of milk.

i'm jsut dumb founded....milk serving sizes in school is a pint.......chocolate milk in school does not have as much fat as a Big Mac......and chocolate milk has been in schools since the 40s...it's obviously not the cause of obesity...I continue to be amazed by how easily people give up their own ability to choose what is right for themselves.....utterly amazing....and for the record...chocolate milk only has as much fat content as the type of milk that;s in it...you can have lowfat chocolate milk...but hey...that may be too much for people to think about.....

Chocolate milk? No. Chocolate milk can have the same fat content as regular milk depending on what is purchased. And it's not that much that children are served.

I agree with removing fast food at schools and stuff, and not allowing Companies to sponsor scholl lunches ( McDonalds, Coke, and Pepsi sponsor lunches at schools, often putting themselves on the menu)

But banning Chocolate milk???

Geez, thats harsh

It will never end if people allow this but I guess everything is bad for you in today's world. That's it, we can only give the kids lettuce and water for lunch at school. Nothing more or they might die.

Wow, you really are just trying to troll. The milk that is in schools is the kind that they say is fattier than a Big Mac burger. It doesn't matter if you think it's low-fat or not. The regular stuff has even more than that. Try doing some research before trolling educated people.

There is not any chocolate milk that has more fat than a Big Mac dude.
