As disgusting as it is, its cheap. And when prices rise, everyone complains.savetehhaloz

In America we eat a lot of meat...not necessarily a bad thing, not good either, but its just the way we are. A rise in price to the equivelent of what, idunno, the Japanese pay for beef and pork would cause an uproar to say the least.

That's just disturbing. I could never do any of those actions to any animal. They feel all of that pain. There are more humane ways to kill them. Those slaughter house employees that are beating up on the animals are horrible people.

I work in a huge slaughter house for beef. If any of the employees treated cows with unnecessary cruelty and force they would get fired on the spot.

[QUOTE="Cheesehead9099"][QUOTE="StealthMonkey4"][QUOTE="SolidSnake35"] Yeah and we don't bother to help those that do. We, as in humanity. So humans die because of human inaction.. and they find themselves in that position because of general human stupidity. But why should animals suffer because of us as well?

Because we're animals and we're omnivores, people have hunted meat for thousands of years, it's no different than if we stab the spear into the animal ourselves or if large companies mass murder them for convenience.

It does matter HOW the companies mass murder the animals... I mean some of these methods are just stupid. They are wasteful. Like killing a cow by basically ripping out it's throat? It's a lot easier to just shoot it in the head and it takes way less time, half these things are just dumb and cost-inefficient.

They use exsanguination because it keeps the meat from rotting quickly.

And people complain about hunters. At least what we kill isn't tortured before hand and gets to roam in the wild.

[QUOTE="BluRayHiDef"]

You know, the problem presented in this video is an indication that there are simply too many Humans. With so many people to feed (billions), Humanity is forced to resort to the mass and systematic killing of animals. As screwed up as the video is, as omnivorous creatures who like meat, this is inevitable. If there were fewer Humans who did things the old fashioned way (Hunting and gathering), I'm pretty sure the problem wouldn't be this severe and wouldn't be any worse than a predator taking out its prey the natural way. The only solution is to decrease the Human population. These mass and systematic killings are only one of the many problems caused by the needs of the billions of Humans that roam this Earth. I personally think that the best way of killing the animals is to quickly behead them with a single stroke; the rapid decrease in cranial blood pressure will assure that the loss of consciousness occurs quickly.

tratyu92

The only correct answer in this thread.

Unfortunately the only people who spout this kind of crap are well-living westerners who consume more and put more of a strain on the planet's resources than most of the rest of that 6 billion. You alone probably consume more meat in one week than a family living in India does in a couple of months.

yes it is sad what some animals go through, but most of the meat we consume is killed in humane ways that causes little to no pain...so no amount of videos picking out just the worst of the worst in animal treatment will stop me eating my meat.

Everyday, in terms of meat, I have either four chicken legs or 1 to 1.5 chicken breasts. However, I'm getting tired of chicken legs. I think I'm just going to eat chicken breasts from now on.

you know, when I lived in Bulgaria, my mom used to go to a friends farm to get the meat. I've been there, the pigs, weren't in tight locked up cages. Neither were the hens. And when my grandpa went to the fish farm, there weren't nearly as much fish in a tank. This sort of stuff doesn't happen everywhere, and just because you eat these food products does not mean that you approve of these methods. I'm just saying.

Not surprising that this goes on in some slaughter houses. It's disturbing stuff, although it would never stop me from eating meat. There's virtually nothing we can do about it unless governments decide to clamp down.

BluRayHiDef

Uh...what?!

Right off the top of my head, I can think of at least a couple of better solutions. 1) Hire more people to inspect these facilities for animal mistreatment. 2) Raise the penalties for anyone getting caught mistreating the animals.

KlepticGrooves

the government does clamp down, at least in terms of regulations and inspections

This was a video containing small, rare acts of horrible physical abuse to animals, portrayed incorrectly as standard practice. Some of the standard methods (i.e. the chicken being rolled overa saw to cut their neck) might seem horrible, but thats the best and most efficient way. The beating and pain is what bothers me, not the root method of slaughter.

Actually I heard the Double Down isn't quite as bad as some other fast food sandwiches, because other fast food sandwhiches have the chicken AND the bread, while the Double Down at least ditches the bread.

Hasn't it been proven that fruits and vegetables can feel pain as well? Then, that would mean that it is just as bad for plants than it is for animals.

Lets take an orange for example and kill it the most humane possible way.

You start tugging and pulling an orange until it is ripped off from the tree separating it form his (yes it's a boy, I've checked) mother; the one being who raised him from when he was only a merechild. Then, you immediately start ripping his very own skin off, piece by piece. Now, you are biting into his very own flesh. With every bite you take there is an explosion of his guts soaring everywhere, and now his fluids are dripping all over your face, as your significant-other begins to lick the juices off from you. This has all just happened as the the mother tree was right there to experiencethe massacre of Jr., her first born child.

Why cant we treat these animals more humanly. We can still eat them, but we must atleast give them a happy life, give them their last joys before we kill them and when we kill them let us do it more humanely.

99% of the time the animal does not feel anything; theyre either knocked out properly with an airhammer, gassed, or given anesthetic

this video is simply portraying that this kind of abuse is standard for the industry, and theyre wrong.

That was just sick my god how can people do that to animals and not feel bad how would they like it if it happened to them.

And If you are going to eat meat eat organic meat the animals are raised in a better environment and the meat tastes better too. since there are no chemicals or other weird things going into the meat.

Its horrible to see animals being treated bad like that but don't support it and they might not do it any more.

Animals bred for slaughter will die either way. There are bigger problems to complain about like the millions of humans that die every day.StealthMonkey4
yeah but there is a law against eating them... i checked.

seriously though eating meat is not bad what is bad is the enormous amounts of it we eat and the conditions of the animals before they are slaughtered.

All that money that goes to protecting animal rights and going against establishments could be going to human beings instead. I think we need to broaden our views of what makes logical sense.

As revolting as it is to watch near-torturous levels of indecency towards animals, they will never be as bad to me as watching just 1 human being suffer.

Yes I did watch the video, but my sympathies are simply elsewhere.

this isnt the first video of its kind and i doubt it will the last im sure there are more than 1% of people that do this in the business. or else we wouldnt get probably 20 new videos of it a year at least.
