[QUOTE="Crushmaster"] In Christ, Crushmaster.

Do you have to add that at the end of everything you say? I mean what does it even mean by "In christ?" What are you on a laptop inside his stomach?

Why do Christians get so offended when you talk about "their" deity? The Jews almost never take offense to what I say about the Old Testament, and in fact I get some points from them.

The Christians didn't start the book, so how can they get offended when the people representing the original book tell them they're misunderstanding?

smc91352

Anyone know?

There's Reform, Conservative and Ultra Orthodox Jews. The Ultra Orthodox Jews often defend their faith with violence.

Christians follow the NT....so what does the Jewish faith have to do with misunderstanding the NT...it's not their book? And before someone asks the OT to Christians is the history of God and His promise to his people. The laws/rules of the Jewish faith are not material to Christianity.

Wrong.
(Revelation 20:15) - "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

(John 3:3) - "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

(DGuy_101 1:1) God loves you. It dosn't matter if you are GLBT or anything else as long as you are not harming people.

(DGuy_101 1:2) As long as you live a happy life making good into the world and you are going to heaven. Which is made of volcanos of beers and hot girls on mini skirts.

Most of Jesus "unique" qualities were stolen from Horus. Christianity is not unique whatsoever. Jesus is not the only god reported to have been born of a virgin, he is not the only god to have allegedly performed miracles, he's not the only god to have allegedly walked on water. Hell, even the trinity is not unique-- they stole that from Hinduism.

Hello. If your would like some information on that debunked claim, that goes deeper into the truth that just a YouTube video such as Zeitgeist, it can be found in the following links.

The reality is that anyone can make claims like that but backing those claims up with sound historical evidence, not so much.

"The Bible has advanced scientific information; or, it did for the time it was written." What do you mean by that? The stories on how the earth was made etc wouldn't be considered science, rather just theories and stories. There's nothing in the bible that would be considered scientific, now or back then.

I think south park might sum it up best.

Jesus: "here is a pitcher of water. Now just.... turn around......"

"huh?"

"just turn around...."

*switches pitcher of water with pitcher of wine*

"that trick sucks"

Jesus:"Oh, I guess it worked better on people 2000 years ago"

Considering the religions based on works today such as Star Trek or Scientology, the lack of travel and scientific background making folks 2000 years ago very gullible, as well as the tendency of humans to exaggerate stories, times that by several translations and its highly likely Jesus is overrated. Especially when you consider everyone worked crappy lives as farmers or peasents back then and being told not doing things they probably can't do anyways gets them eternal Paradise makes him extremely likable. Just look at all the crap about Chuck Norris.

Right. However, Horus too is just another diety/'son of god'in the line of them that obtains his attributes from the Sun. Theapostles around Horus, Jesus and the various other dietiesare non other than the twelve constellations and the events that took place in the life of these messiahs are all attributed to the movements of the cosmos that were seen back then. So IMO, it is safe to say that most, if not all religions stemmed from the worship of the stars and the heavens

I was beginning to wonder if there would ever be another CM thread, there hasn't been one in months and months. Maybe GS has put a limit on how many they can do? Anyhow, it's about time, OT is in bad need of comic relief and it admittedly isn't quite the same without the literalists doing their rounds like they used to.

We just need Gabu, Pianist, and where's Lans? Let's get this party truly started!

Is it just a coincidence that many Christians have found Jesus floating in the dregs of a bottle of cheap wine, or staring up at them from a used coke mirror?

Yea I read through those a while ago, though much good they do in the manner they are currently enforced. I'd think it'd be all or nothing.

TC can you answer me this question: Why are there multiple religiouns teaching different things? Follow with me here, if there is a true God I can only assume that he would want the people to follow one religioun that is true by him. So why do we have 3 major religiouns? Christianity, Islam and Jewdism. To appeal to masses?

But he's asking why there's different religions at all, if there is only one God. Each has their own prophet; Jesus, Muhammed and Moses, respectively, but each teaches a different way of life. Just look at how each denies the consumption of at least one type of meat.

Oh well I am just giving you the answer an evangelist would give and that answer is just a defense of the principle of free will which they need to defend sternly since other things they believe in invalidate it completely.

But he's asking why there's different religions at all, if there is only one God. Each has their own prophet; Jesus, Muhammed and Moses, respectively, but each teaches a different way of life. Just look at how each denies the consumption of at least one type of meat.AirGuitarist87
The OT is the story of God and his people and the prophecy of the messiah. The NT would be that fulfillment. As for Islam...it's a different interpretation of the OT. I don't see the NT as a big part of it though they do consider Jesus a prophet. That wasn't His message though...

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="Maqda7"]TC can you answer me this question: Why are there multiple religiouns teaching different things? Follow with me here, if there is a true God I can only assume that he would want the people to follow one religioun that is true by him. So why do we have 3 major religiouns? Christianity, Islam and Jewdism. To appeal to masses?Maqda7
All the same God though....

But completly different teachings. One teaches you should love your enemy, another teaches you could fight in the name of God.

That's only two options...These only describe Judaism and Christianity respectively; you need to desribe Islam, or define it the way you did with Christianity.

Oh well I am just giving you the answer an evangelist would give and that answer is just a defense of the principle of free will which they need to defend sternly since other things they believe in invalidate it completely.

Free will is important....but that's not the answer to this question. It's a touchy subject to answer though without offending the other religions. As to what evangelicals will say....no clue. They seem to have differing ideas to other denominations.

The interpretation of violence was due to the times in which they lived.

That was just one example. Judaism, advances the belief in a God that does not live in or near His creation. Christianity, advances the belief in a God that created a human son who lived and died on this planet. Islam, advances the belief in Allah (God), The Creator Of The Universe And All That Is Contained Therein, whose spirit is everywhere and in all of us.

Well thats what I usually hear from them when someone asks why didnt God make sure that His religion was the only one on earth or the most predominasnt one; in short to the question: why didnt God make sure most (if not all) people would come in touch with his right teachings?

And I am not saying it isnt important. Just pointing out that its contradictory for evangelicals to defend free will considering some other dogmas they have conjured up from their interpretation of the Bible.

Well I'd say the importance of faith plays a big part in the reason. Free will does not seem to be the reason to have different religions since one can choose to believe or not.
