Do you think your sexuality is just like any other choice you make in life?

People say that you have no choice in your sexuality but I disagree with that. Mainly because choosing to be straight is like choosing anything else in life.

Its one of those things that can never be proved. I think people say they are born that way just to not feel as scared of hell.

So when did you choose to be straight TC?

because I certainly as hell don't remember. All I know was one day I looked at a girl and started randomly getting a funny feeling "down there." Don't remember the time nor day it happened either.

Its a everchanging thought. Just like its a everchanging thought of what future console I want to pick. Right now I can just dream just like I can just dream of xbox 720, ps4 and wii u.

Of course it can be proved, don't be moronic.

It would involve thinking about the article.

Do you think that the duck decided to be a homosexual necrophilac or do you think perhaps the duck was driven by its natural instincts?

Funny how all the people that say sexuality is a choice refuse to test it out by temporarily changing their sexuality.

One can choose their sexuality just like one can choose who they are sexually attracted to from a purely aesthetic standpoint. Which is to say:
Temporarily find this fine specimen sexually arousing, and truly find it beautiful, and believe it with all your heart: Afterall, you can choose, right?
So you are saying that ducks are self-aware to the point of makign such complex decisions? You do realise what a massive scientific discovery you have made, you will get a noble prize for certain.

Tell me, did you choose to be an idiot or do you think you were just born that way?

Duckyindiana

Your only right if the choice is no different than any other.

To prove my point look at twins. These twins made much of the same choices in life and they were seperated at birth. They didnt meet eachother till they were 39.

They both worked as part time deputy sherrifs, vacationed in Florida, drive chevrolets, had dogs named Toy, and married a woman named Betty. One twin named his son James Allan and the other named his son James Alan. They both liked math but not spelling. Had almost identical smoking and drinking habits.

Proves my point that being straight is no more of a choice than any other choice in life. That choices are linked the same way your sexuality is to your body. Thus if we do have choice in life then we have choice in our sexuality.

Yep I am. Its no less of a prime example to illistrate how they are both choices.

You ever came out of the closet to your friends that have the other console? It can be risky. You might get some verbal abuse or even beat up. Ive seen a guy get beat up for buying a Ps3 when his friends had 360's.

I dont think its a choice. I mean first of all why would anyone actually choose to be homosexual? It brings with it many cons and almost no positives. Its like would you rather be rich or poor and of course you would choose rich and im willing to bet that if sexuality was a choice most would not choose to be homosexual with the current stigma surrounding it. Second, I know just from personal experience that you cant help how you feel or who your attracted to plain n simple. Either something arouses you or it doesn't and you cant choose what does arouse you. Some people have foot fetishes knowing full well thats its weird but its turns them on and thats the way it is for them. Its the same thing with homosexuals. They look at members of the opposite sex and dont feel any attraction. Its not like they choose not to be attracted but they just aren't. They could pretend so that they fit in but they would be living a pretty painful lie that could hurt a bunch of people.

Now how does that prove its different than any other choice?

All your describing is how a person decides what any regular choice he could make. Your describing the nature side of the choices we make.

Wouldn't that story lean more towards the fact that it is genetics? To quote "Scientist Thomas Bouchard who conducted these studies on twins points out that " the genetic effect pervades the entire structure of personality." How does this prove your point?

The point that im trying to make is that most sane humans if given the choice would not choose to be gay Ive spoken to gay people who wish they werent but just are and some who do enjoy it but riddle me this. If someone is gonna go to hell for being homosexual as you put it why would they choose to be gay Can you come up with a valid reason? Wouldnt you choose well not to go to hell?

Wouldn't that story lean more towards the fact that it is genetics? To quote "Scientist Thomas Bouchard who conducted these studies on twins points out that " the genetic effect pervades the entire structure of personality." How does this prove your point?

It means that all choices lead back to genetics. That being straight is just a choice like anything else is a choice.

So you chose your genetics? Is that what you are trying to say?

Nope. Im saying that you cant pick and choose what aspect of life your born with or if its a choice. Your either born the way you are or you are making the choices.

Choosing whether you are straight or gay is like choosing whether you are black or white.

Sure its possible I guess, but why would you change what you want or who you are like that? I'm straight, but its not like I decided to be straight, I just like women.

If it were a choice then everybody would be bisexual.

...Are you feeling alright?
So what again is your reasoning behind sexuality being a choice?

you're*

Also, your last sentence is wrong. Environmental influences affect you in many ways after you are born with only some genetic influence, and you don't make the choices as to how those affect you (For example something in your upbringing has probably caused you to be dumber than your genetics would suggest. Either that or you have sh*t genes) It's called heritability. It's a scale ranging from 0.0 to 1.0 (containing every point in between) but you obviously aren't proficient in biology so you wouldn't know that.

You may be right but my point still remains, that your sexual orientation is a choice just like any other or its by nature just like everything is.

Yeah its basicly all fate or all choice. Either cant be proved wrong. So i'll be satisfied that nobody proved me wrong.

Though it points to everything being fate because of the twin study thing.

He's definitely confused. It's not an "and/or" it's a full spectrum range across multiple indices

hahahahahahaha You are the epitome of a peasant So you started originally by saying it was all choice Now you are saying that is all choice or genetics or nature...or choice with nature...or with no nature So basically you picked both teams and called yourself a winner Peasant

so then your confused because the whole idea of fate is that you dont have a choice. You're just being extremely confusing and not making any sense and by contradicting yourself.

Maybe its fate that we live like were making choices. When everything was already pre-rigged to do what it will do.
