Nah, its a choice. You wouldnt say your were born to like coke if that was your favorite soda, would you?[QUOTE="wis3boi"]
it's as much a choice as I get to pick what the weather is

Your taste buds tell you what you like the best. Its still a choice. Regardless of whatever genetic predispositions we have, sexuality is a choice.
Official proof that OP is a troll and is of course h0m0sex. Please don't feed him, or any other, any further. /thread.I remember that it is one of many choices I had in life.Do you remember making a choice OP?

Im not sure if this was brought up but I remember last year in my psych class we had to watch a video about 2 identical twin boys. Their mother and father game them both GI joe toys, tried to put them into sports, give them a lot of video games etc. They were both raised exactly the same but it turns out one of the boys just loved using nail polish, the color pink, wanted barbie dolls and just all around wanted to be feminine. So I really dont think sexuality is a choice but more of something you are born with. These kids were both around 10 years old and if i remember correctly they have been observered since they were about 7 I wanna say. I really do think that sexuality is genetic.
[QUOTE="slipknot0129"]I remember that it is one of many choices I had in life. Why did you choose straight over gayBecause thats all I knew. Point is that its still a choice. Life can influence your choices.[QUOTE="jimmyrussle117"]

Same logic works for everything else a person does. From the food they like to whatever else they choose to do in life.Im not sure if this was brought up but I remember last year in my psych class we had to watch a video about 2 identical twin boys. I'd agree with you if you said everything in life isnt a choice.

You made the wrong decisions then....it's better to choose intelligence.
[QUOTE="slipknot0129"]Because thats all I knew. Point is that its still a choice. Life can influence your choices. When did you make that decision, and if you weren't ignorant would you have chosen differently? When you are born you make barely any choices. Even less likely complicated ones like sexuality. We make choices all the time. I cant remember every choice ive made down to the day and second.[QUOTE="thegerg"] Why did you choose straight over gaythegerg
Yep, its my own choice to decide what sexuality I prefer... No one else can tell me to be straight, gay bi, etc.
[QUOTE="slipknot0129"]When you are born you make barely any choices. Even less likely complicated ones like sexuality. We make choices all the time. I cant remember every choice ive made down to the day and second. Please try to answer the question, at least ballpark it. Anyway, it's clear that you're avoiding the question because you don't remember ever making that decision. That's one reason that it's so perplexing that you seem to be so sure that you (or anyone else) ever made such a choice. Your whole argument is that ones sexuality is a choice, yet no one (including you) can provide even anecdotal evidence that it's a choice. It is also perplexing that you seem to think that there are things that aren't choices. I've never heard something so silly in my life. Yet nobody can prove that every choice you make cant be traced back genetics. Until that happens then sexuality is a choice.[QUOTE="thegerg"] When did you make that decision, and if you weren't ignorant would you have chosen differently? thegerg
I know genetics determine what a person does and the choices they make. Like food, you eat what your tast buds tell you that you like.
Everything you do is controlled by the brain. By that logic, you cant make choices in anything.
I will say that some peoples sexuality choice is obvious and they wont change.
Also the only reason people say everything is a choice but sexuality is not, is because of the fear of god.
Not everything is a choice. I don't choose to prefer vanilla over chocolate, I just do.I will say that some peoples sexuality choice is obvious and they wont change.

You know normally this would be an insult but I'm actually asking this out of curiosity this time: TC are you high. Like seriously. Are you?Ace6301Nah, I think you are.
Sexuality being a choice or not isnt a science thing. Its whatever people believe.
Obviously people are going to disagree to something they dont believe in.

If sexuality was a choice, why do we have homosexuals killing themselves because they're ashamed of their sexuality? Wouldn't they have just chosen to be straight instead?PernicioEnigmaPeople do suicide over the most stupid things in the world.

False, nobody suicides over you.
/lame but true
I could be the guy who gets the last McChicken and cause somebody to break down and commit suicide. Add to a guys already pitiful day. What I'm going to say doesn't directly answer your question, TC, but does offer an insight...
Scientists have supposedly discovered that if a mother bears multiple sons, the odds of the youngest being a homosexual is high.
Now.... I have no idea what the truth is, whether it's how your born or it's a choice (I never made a definite choice *I never told myself I wanted to be straight, it just happened*)
Religiously speaking, it's a choice...

I live like everythings a choice but exist in a choice free reality.
Nice that science tells us what we will like and what we wont like. I think its cool how twins born apart like so many of the same stuff. Like driving the same cars, same drinks, and naming their sons the same name. What I'm going to say doesn't directly answer your question, TC, but does offer an insight...

If sexuality was a choice, why do we have homosexuals killing themselves because they're ashamed of their sexuality? Wouldn't they have just chosen to be straight instead?PernicioEnigmaThat's not why homosexuals commit suicide... that's an ignorant statement. It's usually that someone doesn't accept them (for they are; as a homosexual) - whether it's their parents, siblings, friends, etc. It's like your parents disowning you because you're straight and not a homosexual. Or it's because they're a confused teenager, who is a homosexual - but doesn't want anyone to know because they're afraid of the bullying/teasing that will ensue once everybody finds out - then when everyone does find out, they're embarrassed because they can't control their feelings and are made a fool...

Did you choose your eye color?Did you choose how the chemicals in your brain work?Nope I didnt choose what color my eyes are. It only proves that nothing in life is a choice.
What we do is controlled by our brain. Thus, what we like is because of the brain. Nothing is a choice.
But we like to think we have a choice.
