I live in Canada so I don't really care but personally, I want Hilary to be a president. (don't try to bash me since I have no knowledge on this at all).bloody1f4knight

As an American, I really wouldn't appreciate a president whos opinion is for sale (She reportedyl got paid by pharmaceudical lobbyists to stop her crusade for socialized healthcare back in the 90's)......

Oh and the TC is mad because Obama didn't come outright and say he hates his pastor? Give me a break.....

If John McCain's pastor said Black People were destroying the country, you guys would hang him out to dry and you know it.

Obama's link to this pastor, plus him being buddies with people from the Weather Underground really frightens me. And what frightens me more, is that people don't care and/or defend him to the bitter end.

No because I know McCain isn't like that.. INfact the people who hate McCain the most are other republicans ironically enough.. And it usually is because he strides for the common good of the country rather then the loyalty of the republican party... I could care less if he stayed in the same church.. I don't have to agree 100% with everything the man/woman says do I?

Actually Mccain is known for having a bad temper, so theres obviously a bit of hate built up inside him....

The pastor's speech wasn't very anti-american.. But it is controversial.. Sense when though should you break away from your friends when you have a disagreement?sSubZerOo
depends on how valuable to you they are on every other subject.

What does "reportedly" mean? Does it mean a story from a recognized news service like Reuters or the Associated Press? Or does it mean the baseless ramblings of conspiracy theorists?

It was mentioned quickly in Sicko. My full attention wasn't there when it was mentioned and because of Moores reputation I can't in good taste just state something he says in a movie as fact. There was a shot of a paper showing her contributions or something of the sort, but I had been playing WoW at the time and was mainly just listening to the movie to hear all the crap about how God awful our healthcare is here....

Yeah..I like it when the girls stop by...in the summer
Do you remember, do your remember, when we met that summer

Chorus:

New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think its fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer...
Verse 1:

Hip Hop mama layed Spic and Span
Met you one summer and it all began
You're the best girl that I ever did see
The great Larry Bird jersey 33
When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
Call me Willy Whistle cuz I can't speak baby
Somethin in your eyes went and drove me crazy
Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer the went back home
Macaulay Culkin wasn't Home Alone
Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speakin
Michael J. Fox was Alex P. Keaton
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
Chorus

Verse 2:

Cherry, Pez, Cold Crush, Rock, Stud, Boogie
Used to hate school, so I had to play hookie
Always been hip to the b-boy ****br /> Known to act wild and make a girl smile
Love New Edition and the Candy Girl
Reminds me of you because you rock my world
You come from Georgia where the peaches grow
They drink lemonade and speak real slow
You love Hip Hop and Rock &Roll
Dad took off when you where 4 years old
There was a good man named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby when you're near
You love Fun Dip and Cherry Coke
I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke
When I met you I said my name is Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
Chorus

Verse 3:

In the summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a Hip Hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike
Boogaloo Shrimp and Pogo sticks
My mind takes me back there, oh so quick
Let you off the hook like my man, Mr. Limpit
Think about that summer, and I bug cuz I miss it
Like the color Purple, Macaroni and cheese
Ruby red slippers, and a bunch of trees
Call you up but what's the use
I like Kevin Bacon, but i hate Foot Loose
Came in the door, I said it before
I think I'm over you, but I'm really not sure
When I met you I said my name is Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
Chorus

Verse 4:

Summer girls come, and summer girls go
Some are worth while, and some are so so
Summer girls come, and summer girls go
Some are worth while, and some are so so
Summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a Hip Hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey, like I stole your bike
Chorus

Here's the whole speech (video):

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/23691239#23691239

amazing speech, really. straight from the heart and straight to the point on so many issues.

If you can't nod your head to most of his points, you don't live in the same America the rest of us do. Or you don't see it.

Dreams-Visions

No sir, not amazing. Creating a racial divide is what Obama did. Here, let me post just a portion of his speach for the world:

"The church contains in full the kindness and cruelty, the fierce intelligence and the shocking ignorance, the struggles and successes, the love and yes, the bitterness and bias that make up the black experience in America."

Now here's how you fix it to UNITE people Barack:

"The church contains in full the kindness and cruelty, the fierce intelligence and the shocking ignorance, the struggles and successes, the love and yes, the bitterness and bias that make up the human experience in America."

Pandering and talking down to the american people like we're idiots isn't how you unite a country Barack, it's not how you bring ignorant bigots into the 21st century, it isn't how you incite Change.

Why do people always bash Obama for having vague policies? All the candidates are like that, it's almost as if being a good speaker is hurting this guy.

[QUOTE="MAILER_DAEMON"][QUOTE="Serraph105"]Obama is great and i dont really see what you have against himm0zart

No one can ever actually explain to me why he's so great. The fact that everyone seems to love him so much without reason is extremely scary. :?

You know I've had the exact same experience. Someone here at work has been seriously preaching the word of Obama. I asked him on the day of the Texas primary what he liked about him. He couldn't give me a straight answer. He said "He's just cool!"

Hehe, I guess he is kind of cool. He has a great manner about him, and can deliver riveting speeches. But is that the only reason? Could any motivational speaker do well at the polls?

Charisma and catch phrases. I don't find much substance in his ideas.

Obama has some very definite positions. Saying that he doesn't is just aping the talking heads on TV.

Here are some Obama positions:

Social Security: He will fix it by lifting the 'cap'. Luckily this will only affect people making over $100,000 a year.

Health Care: He has a plan to implement a national insurance policy similar to Massachusetts. However, you will not be forced to buy into it (as Hillary plans). However, all children will be covered, similar to our cHIP plan here in Colorado.

Iraq: Obama would institute a drawdown. Meanwhile, the current plan of shifting the militias to our side, which has reduced the violence dramatically, will continue while the Iraqi army rebuilds. The cost savings of this alone will more than pay for his health plan.

Is that really a good thing? Sounds like he's punishing people for actually believing in capitalism and making some money. My household income isn't too much lower than that. $100,000 is more or less middle to upper middle class...that would affect a lot more people than you realize.

I say do away with Social Security, since it was only supposed to be a temporary fix anyways. It would force people to plan for retirement and be fiscally responsible instead of relying solely on government handouts. Earn your money and save it so you can be positive that you'll be providing yourself and your family a good life upon retirement.

Eliminating Social Security would be political suicide for whoever plans it. It is extremely popular among the group of registered voters that has the highest voting rate: the elderly.

I agree that it is deeply flawed and I sincerely wish that it had been planned out better when it was first implemented, but even big changes have been bitterly opposed by seniors- take for instance Bush's plan for private accounts, announced when he was at the height of his popularity.

Do you want me to add dates and times? Dollars and cents?

By denouncing his plans as vague, you are taking the easiest way out. I told you just a few of his plans and you just repeated back whatever the news anchors and Obama's opponents told you to say.

Do you know McCain's plans? Do you know Hillary's plans? Or are you taking their word for it that they have definite plans while Obama only has dreams?

Do you want me to add dates and times? Dollars and cents?

By denouncing his plans as vague, you are taking the easiest way out. I told you just a few of his plans and you just repeated back whatever the news anchors and Obama's opponents told you to say.

Do you know McCain's plans? Do you know Hillary's plans? Or are you taking their word for it that they have definite plans while Obama only has dreams?

ThaSod

His plans are vague. He took some issues that he knew would garner him votes and made vague...."I'm going to change" promises. Nothing mentioned had ANY concrete plan attached.

This topic is about Obama. If you can't defend his plans without making comments against others then he doesn't have anything to offer now does he? His ideas should stand on their own.

It seems to me he didnt want to condemn the words of his pastor because his pastor has the right to say them. Obviously that doesnt mean he cant condoemn them, but would you want a president who judges the free speech of others?

Condemning the words of another does not mean one is taking away their right to say them. Anyway...he's gone to that church for 20 years. He can't have disagreed too much.

So you are accepting what they accuse him of without researching? I told you three of his plans. I do not find these 3 plans vague. Can you pinpoint what makes you think they are?

Who is the they? I'm going by my own opinion of his plans. And those three...as you outlined them...are vague. They are vague because they have no substance to them.

Surely if a criticism like that can be levelled at all the candidates, then it's something of a non-issue?

Is that really a good thing? Sounds like he's punishing people for actually believing in capitalism and making some money. My household income isn't too much lower than that. $100,000 is more or less middle to upper middle class...that would affect a lot more people than you realize.

I say do away with Social Security, since it was only supposed to be a temporary fix anyways. It would force people to plan for retirement and be fiscally responsible instead of relying solely on government handouts. Earn your money and save it so you can be positive that you'll be providing yourself and your family a good life upon retirement.

ThaSod

Eliminating Social Security would be political suicide for whoever plans it. It is extremely popular among the group of registered voters that has the highest voting rate: the elderly.

I agree that it is deeply flawed and I sincerely wish that it had been planned out better when it was first implemented, but even big changes have been bitterly opposed by seniors- take for instance Bush's plan for private accounts, announced when he was at the height of his popularity.

Regardless, you still didn't answer my main question. How do you consider it "lucky" that only the ones that earn their comfortable living would be stuck footing the bill? God forbid you spend thousands to go school so you can aquire a well paying job just to be screwed over and forced to support people who couldn't practice financial responsibility during their life. It's really not that hard to save money.

'They' is Hillary and McCain. So you can't pinpoint what is vague. I've told you his plans pretty precisely- raising the income 'cap' on Social Security tax (that is VERY specific), instituting a subsidized national health insurance plan similar to Massachusetts, except that it is not mandatory except for children. And the money to pay for it will easily be covered by less expenses in Iraq, where he plans a draw down of troops while continuing Bush's plan of co-opting the militias (which has done more for the stability of the nation than anything else yet tried).

Obama's plans are just as well formed as Hillary's and McCain's. He just happens to be a better speaker and is being attacked for it.

Oh and I hate the Dems plan of a quick withrawal... we made a mess, we have to clean it up... no matter if it takes.... 10 years(100 is too much), If we leave it like it is the US would lose so much prestige in the world stage, and the US can't afford to lose it.

Each person has their own views of Obama and does it really matter if an individual were to hate him for their own specific reason?

Spelling is no measurement of intelligence, merely a measure of the time the person is willing to dedicate to his words
