How about everyone can do whatever they want with their money? Rich, poor, or middle class. Okay? Good.

In our current Capitalist society no they shouldn't HAVE to. But they shouldn't be paid so much money in the first place so that there is more money to go to the minimum wage workers who are just barely getting by.

Well rich people should give some of their money away to help the poor (e.g. health, education) otherwise it is just selfish and anarchic. Don't forget, the rich people MADE their money from the people so they should give some back in the form of welfare.

No I'm not a communist.

The rich shouldn't give the poor money directly, but rather utilize the money to better all of society. Like Carnegie and his building of libraries, museums, and theatres back in the 19th century.

No. Rich people have the right to do what they please with their money. Poor people are poor because of their own choices in life. It's their own fault they didn't go to college and get a decent job. No one should be give anything. Everyone should have to earn their place in the world.

How about the fact that minimum wage workers usually don't have enough money to get the training for better jobs? One must invest money to make money, and if you haven't got enough capital, in the form of paper or electronic money, then the world pretty much says "F*** you!" to you.

I've seen how lazy people that don't want to work hard end up settling for minimum wage jobs. They wanted to be stupid and wasted their high school opportunities, so now they're stuck with low paying jobs. Failing at high school isn't the end of the world, though. My father never went to high school because he came here from Mexico. He started out at a minimum wage position, but now he makes about $25/hr because he decided to get into construction, a job that is widely available but not done by many because it's "hard", and he worked hard in order to gain the attention of his superiors and get promoted. He's not rich, but he makes more than enough for us to get by. I'm doing great in high school so that I don't ever have to work for a small amount of money. If the people at McDonald's or Wal-Mart had done that themselves, then they wouldn't have to work there.

Is it fair that it's so much easier for a wealthy person to find better jobs then someone working minimum wage?

Some people work hard through highschool yet lack "school smarts" and flunk out, how is it fair that they get stuck with low paying minimum wage jobs when they tried their best to succeed in highschool?

Really? I didn't know that the poor could rise through the ranks. If they could, then why don't they? You'd think that any paths, no matter how difficult they are, would be told to all people, that is, unless the government or the corporations don't want it that way.

And if you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. It is human nature to keep the majority of the population towards the lower end of the wealth/poverty line, to ensure that there is a work force for the super-rich. These paths that you mention are either too long, damn near, if not, completely impossible, or require too much startup capital. Banks don't give loans to the poor so they can go to college, nor do they hand them out to start a business, thus how can the dirt poor of the world ever rise through the ranks and become the next Rockefeller or Gates?

No it isn't. That's why the world reverts to capitalism, because socialism, the only truly beneficial form of economic and political system is impossible, on both a scientific and moral basis.

its pretty hard for me to comprehend how anyone can be poor in this american society these days. theres so many simple things you can do to get out of poverty, none of which are really all that difficult.

And look at how they got to where they are. Basically through theft from Apple. Not exactly the best example of corporate truth, if ever there was one.

Those poor people are in need of money, and most people aren't willing to give to them. That has got to change.

Yes, they could have, but even then, if you are born poor, you usually don't get the same chances that the rich do. If you have no collateral to base a loan on, you can't get it (unless your body counts), thus it is incredibly unlikely that the poor can get an education. You may be able to pay for the tuition, but how about all the other, hidden costs, like clothing, food, school supplies like paper, pens, and pencils, and everything else that scholarships normally don't cover?

actually smash is right, you arent at all.

Nope Smash is quite far off. No one CHOOSES to be poor, sure there are some people who do slack off in highschool and are now paying for it for the rest of their lives...which isn't really fair. But there are also people that no matter how hard they try they can't get ahead, meanwhile the rich live in luxury buying millions of dollars worth of things that they don't need at all...now I know that is definitely not fair...but unfortunately that's Capitialism!

[QUOTE="SmashBrosLegend"]No. Rich people have the right to do what they please with their money. Poor people are poor because of their own choices in life. It's their own fault they didn't go to college and get a decent job. No one should be give anything. Everyone should have to earn their place in the world.tycoonmike

 That's sig worthy.

Are you saying it's not their fault they didn't go to college? Could they not have worked hard enough to earn scholarships and take out loans?

Yes, they could have, but even then, if you are born poor, you usually don't get the same chances that the rich do. If you have no collateral to base a loan on, you can't get it (unless your body counts), thus it is incredibly unlikely that the poor can get an education. You may be able to pay for the tuition, but how about all the other, hidden costs, like clothing, food, school supplies like paper, pens, and pencils, and everything else that scholarships normally don't cover?

My grandfather was born dirt poor on a farm in Arkansas. He dropped out of high school and had a kid when he was 19. He went to work during the day, and went to night school. Now, he owns the largest branch of Century 21 in North America. I don't want to hear any crap about it not being possible to get an education. If you don't have enough money for college, get a scholarship. Simple as that.

well currently, there arent any economic systems that are really any more fair. Every system has its flaws.

It's either you've never gone out of your own house, you haven't experienced much of life yet, or you're just good old fashioned ignorant. I figure those are the only reasons for an answer like that.

If you work hard enough in high school, you can get a scholarship. High school is not hard, and if you do not finish it is no one's fault but your own. People need to start taking responsibility for their actions instead of blaming society. Society will never change.

too bad ive met lots of people who choose to be poor. are you even out of highschool or college yet? jesus christ you are ignorant. i slacked off in highschool and im not poor, i didnt even goto college yet and yes i live on my own. capitalism makes sense. the fact is, some people want to ride the system. dont believe me? take a look at hurricane katrina. what was the number one thing bought (this was on all the news stations not too long ago im sure you can google it) take a wild guess. well it was girls gone wild. ive met tons and tons of people who choose to live off of welfare, and yet they still b/tch about capitalism, when theyre getting handouts.

Just because High school is easy for you, does not mean it is easy for everyone, someone not gifted with school smarts is not going to have a chance of getting a scholarship. It's not like getting a scholarship is a very easy thing to do. And sure sometimes people can succeed even if they start poor, but this is a small number compared to the amount that don't succeed.

i totally agree with you. even if you mess up in highschool theres so many ways to get ahead in our very forgiving society! 1. goto a community college with financial aid 2. do good there, then goto a real college or you can try this: move in with a few people, and youll get by. duh nobody should be poor. if you are, its totally your own fault and yes i am saying some people choose to be poor because they lack common sense or they are trying to ride the system

im noticing people are saying that because some people arent matching up with the rest of society, that we should treat them like kings.
