Okay this whole Chick-Fil-A boycott controversy has got me thinking. Now I am a christian and I too believe in the biblical relationships between man and woman, I don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle. HOWEVER, I am not a bigot or a person that goes around gay bashing, in fact I have a family member that is gay My family is mostly made up of christians and we still love my gay family member but he knows we don't agree with his lifestyle. I know christians are getting a bad rap as being bigots etc but not all of us are the over the top crazy types. I hate the sin, not the person.Anyway, now Chick- Fil-A makes a statement standing by their beliefs and people act all offended. Its no secret that Chick is a christian owned company (hello, they are closed on Sundays) so I think its really dumb that people are boycotting them for their beliefs.

The media and lots of other people are calling the bigots and attacking their facebook page etc. Just because someone is a christian and beleives in what the bible says about marriage, that doesn't mean they are a hateful person. I mean we are still in America right? We aren't allowed to have freedom of religion anymore?? Its like if your not accepting homosexuality with open arms, you deemed a terrible person really. The way things are now, it will soon by a crime to have christian beliefs. It's just shocking to me........... So what do you think? Is it more acceptable to be homosexual than it is to be a christian in today's society?

People arent boycotting Chick-Fil-A because they are a christian owned company. They are boycotting htem because of some of the actions of their owner.

Not really, I think Homosexuality is getting more acceptable. Christians openly bashing them however is looked down upon. Like you said, You don't agree with your family members lifestyle and sexual preference BUT you still accept and respect him or her. That right there I think is great. After all you don't have to agree with someone's life, opinion or belief but you can respect their difference and accept them as a person.

The Chick-Fil-A CEO has the right to express his views no matter how stupid they are. Similarly people have the right to boycott an organization for whatever reason they like. People also have the right to (rightfully) call the Chick-Fil-A CEO a bigot on their facebook page.

I do wish companies would keep their beliefs to themselves though. Keep your product separate from politics. While owners can and should be able to have whatever view they want, it rarely helps them to go public with those views. For me, it's like Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. A percentage of their proceeds go to funding anti-gun groups and as such, they don't see one red cent of my money anymore since I learned about it.

Once again... Chick-Fil-A doesnt just believe in whatever they believe in.

They also fund anti-gay organisations. And its their right, but it is also our right to dislike them for it.

What people should be boycotting is how wildly overpriced their food is. A sandwich combo there is like $8 and it's no better than a $3 combo from Wendy's.

Yeah I'm not really sure how this Chick-Fil-A controversy even came up. If the CEO was asked about it he probably should've just said "no comment" and moved on.

(FWIW I'm also surprised that people are surprised that the CEO doesn't like gay marriage. It's always been pretty clear that they're a very Christian company)

Edit: Oh I didn't know Chick-Fil-A funded anti-gay organizations. Probably not a good move.

Just for your consideration.

(24) Therefore God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them,25even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created, who is blessed forever. Amen.26That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature;27and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.Romans 1

(8) Now we know that the Law is fine provided one handles it lawfully9in the knowledge of this fact, that law is promulgated, not for a righteous man, but for persons lawless and unruly, ungodly and sinners, lacking loving-kindness, and profane, murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, manslayers,10fornicators, men who lie with males, kidnappers, liars, false swearers, and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching11according to the glorious good news of the happy God, with which I was entrusted.1 Timothy 1

(7)I desire to remindYOU, despiteYOURknowing all things once for all time, that Jehovah, although he saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterwards destroyed those not showing faith.6And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day.7So too Sod´om and Go·mor´rah and the cities about them, after they in the same manner as the foregoing ones had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before [us] as a [warning] example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire.1 Jude

No, it's not simply a matter of him expressing his belief. He and his company take their profits and fund groups that actively seek to deny gays their rights. Of course he has the right to believe whatever he wants. He has the right to say whatever he wants. He has the right to put his money whereever he wants. And I, as the consumer, have the right to withhold my money from him and his company.

Off Topic is not real life, it's a very small group of people are very loud and very annoying on the interent. Just ignore them.

But there is nothing wrong with gay people or christians, most of them actually get along in real life, in fact there are even gay christians.

Not at all. Being homosexual is finally being more rapidly accepted everywhere, which is a really good thing. People are not being very accepting of the "Christian" idea of traditional man/woman relationships, because it's 2012- and that thought process is so old-fashioned and wrong.

People are not against faith or religion... but are pretty tired of the "baggage" faith brings with it. Anti-gay thoughts of any kind are not acceptable, sorry. Go home bible belt.

I don't think anybody would tolerate anybody actually following what it says to do in the bible.

Enslaving foreiners and stoning people from other religions? Only a true Christian would support those.

You're confusing the issue. People (me included, even though I love their food), boycott Chick Fil-A not because they don't support homosexuality (I don't give a damn what other people think), but because they actually donate to organizations that actively try to get legislation passed that would limit the civil liberties of gays. Thus, when you buy that delicious sandwhich, it comes at a price; more than likely some of your money is going to opress people.

Oh dear, I guess that would make sense if it weren't for the fact many Christians support gay marriage.. Its not natural? Its not traditional? Marriage is not natural to begin with, it is a social construct.. Traditional? Its not traditional begin with, marriage was a contract agreed between two heads of family for economic and political gain.. This whole bullsh!t about two consenting adults doing it because of true love is a modern day idea..

"We love you, but you're going to Hell."

To be fair, I've only met one Christian ever who had that mentality.

I've met far too many. F*ck, I was raised around them.

Yes, TC, everyone hates Christians even though you make up 90% of the population. You're a persecuted majority. That's why you're banned from getting married, because of all the anti-Christian persecution.

I think it's funny how Christians are all up in arms when they feel that Muslims are pushing Sharia law on their own believers, and the Christians scream "Muslims want to subject us all to Sharia, keep your Islam off me!"

Hypocritically, the Christians then turn around and try to push their religious laws onto the rest of us.

Okay, it's not funny, it's dickish. @ssholes.

I am not saying we should treat g@y people poorly, they are still human beings after all. I am just saying that not everyone who shares the christian belief in marriage is a hateful bigot. And like a said in my first post, I do have a family member who is openly g@y, he is a cool dude but he knows that I and the rest of our family members that are christians don't agree with his lifestyle but we still love him regardless.
