But some people are acting like the CEO just said " O I hate homosexuals " and then proceed to call them degrading slurs. All he said was that believed in what the bible said about marriage. I just think it stupid to be all outraged when the company is known to have christian beliefs and is closed on Sunday's, I mean what do you expect them to say on the subject.... I mean really? LOL

djshowstopper87

For me, it's not even so much that he opposes gay marriage. It's what he said about those of use who support it.

"And I pray Gods mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

Saying we're arrogant just because I want more people to be allowd to get married? That alone makes me not want to give him any money.

Some things in th bible are mean't to be taken literally but the bible is the word of God and if you consider yourself a christian then you shold be familar with it. But one thing that bible states clear as day man should not lay with man. God loves everyone (even non christians and people who mock him) but he does not condone sin and homosexuality is considered a sin. But calling the bible out of date, not be a long shot, most the the thing the bible talks about still happens today just in different forms.

I've met several.

I am not saying we should treat g@y people poorly, they are still human beings after all. I am just saying that not everyone who shares the christian belief in marriage is a hateful bigot. And like a said in my first post, I do have a family member who is openly g@y, he is a cool dude but he knows that I and the rest of our family members that are christians don't agree with his lifestyle but we still love him regardless.

Sure, that's exactly why religious attendance is down dramatically over the past 50 years. It's all OT's fault.

WHY YES, YES IT IS

being gay is acceptable, afaik they didn't choose to be born that way and they aren't harming anyone with their lifestyle

being christian has brought many wars, intolerance and people telling others what they can and can't do

if i have to choose between which of the two is more acceptable to me, is an easy choise

Religion IN TOTAL and not Christianity has been important in 7% of wars. And IF you wish to consider yourself enlightened and tolerant then that means EVERYONE....not just those you choose. Otherwise you're just as much a bigot as those you point fingers at and a hypocrite besides.

Actually church attendance does not necessarily correlate to lack of religion. It means people aren't going to church. Period. People now work on days when church is held or have kids in sports etc. Correlation =/= causation.

Okay, I'm tired of this argument. The bibles does two things, first off it does not rank sin so one sin is essentially equal to any other sin (with the probable exception of murder, rape, etc) the second thing it says it that we are all sinners.

So lets say that being gay is a sin, knowing those two things I said above that would make them (just like you) sinners which would still make you and gay people the same in the eyes of God. Finally religion is supposed to be about having a personal relationship with God, and getting others in touch with God also. By by bein non-inclusive of gay people for being gay you are actually decreasing the chance that they will end up having any sort of relationship with God because you made them feel unwanted to begin with.

In conclusion by you are actually increasing a gay person's chance of becoming an athiest and going to hell (according to what you believe) simply because they are the same as you, a sinner.

So where are the devout? Christianity is more than saying you believe in God. You claim the above, yet church attendance is down, marraige is a joke, out-of-wedlock childbirth is now the norm, so on and so forth.

Where are they? Yeah, they're around, in increasinly small numbers.:D

Don't care. Maybe next time they should actually follow their bible and not be such assh*les.

But uh.... a lot of stuff in the bible does teach people to be a*sholes

Supposedly the NT doesn't. But, yea, religion is dumb and only dumb people follow organized religion.

[QUOTE="l4dak47"][QUOTE="kingkong0124"][QUOTE="l4dak47"] Thanks, but it's kind of pointless now. I have zero respect or tolerance for most religious people.

Maybe it's just where you live. Most people I know couldn't care less if you're religious or not.

I live in Ct and that was crazy. I don't even want to begin to imagine what living in the Bible belt would be like.

o wow, when I went there everybody was pretty tolerant.

You've met every religious person there is to form that opinion?

Nope. Again, I don't care. Not to mention that the religious people do the same.

No they don't all. Not everyone is the same. For instance.....if I used the atheists I've encountered in OT as a measure of all atheists...I'd consider all atheists to be deplorable, ignorant, intolerant bigots. But I know that's not true of all of them. Just a subset. And as such I form my opinion as to who the ignorant, intolerant bigots are due to the personality. Not a group.

You'd better not be wearing clothes made out of more than one type of fabric, otherwise you're a hypocrit. (Edit: Not at you I4, just making a general comment onto what you said).

God doesn't see the sin, just the sinner. Or didn't you know that?

I don't recall anyone ever purporting that it was.

Fact is, you religious folk are a dying breed, and you just can't stand it.

kingkong0124

Actually church attendance does not necessarily correlate to lack of religion. It means people aren't going to church. Period. People now work on days when church is held or have kids in sports etc. Correlation =/= causation.

This is true. I also think there's a trend towards religion being on a more personal level rather than through congregations.

lol lame damage control, peopel are going off religion because its rubbish, and how about you keep it on a personal level then if its the in thing?

Uh something showing dwindling attendance is not showing dwindling beliefs. It's what he presented. Period.

I've got a question that's been nagging me for some time now. You bash OT a lot but yet you've accumulated over 100,000 posts? how's that happen?

So where are the devout? Christianity is more than saying you believe in God. You claim the above, yet church attendance is down, marraige is a joke, out-of-wedlock childbirth is now the norm, so on and so forth.

Where are they? Yeah, they're around, in increasinly small numbers.:D

Yeah, I agree, a lot of it is due to social issues due to poverty (like out of wedlock childbirth). You can still be a religious Christian w/o going to Church. It all depends on your viewpoint, really.

They are for the most part, but you can see religion rear its ugly head sometimes. For example, we jus t(finally) repealed a liquor law that forbidden the sale of alcohol on Sunday because it's "god's day"

Good for you. Meanwhile, I'll act like most religious people and keep generalizing.

he's been here for over 9 years...over time, you will obviously accumulate more posts.
