No this is not a "ALL METAL IS SATANIC!!!" thread...just want to see what you guys think about the music which is actually all screams.

imo I think it sucks, 0 harmony, it makes my ears hurt, cant even make out what the lyrics say...really I dont see why would anyone like this kind of music...but to each his own I guess.

It depends. "screaming" music can be good but it's only good for me if the melody is awesome and the song structure is amazing. Otherwise I find it kinda lame.

^ Yeah, though I do enjoy calling it 'devil music' because to me(only because I don't listen to the genre) sounds like satanic screeches. So when ever I hear kids listening to it I start preach sh*t.

Ah. Alright. Wanted to make sure you meant something like high pitched "screams" and low pitched "growls" and not just a few hardcore bands or something.

It depends on the band for me. I like some bands doing it, but not others. Other I don't mind it, but the band doesn't stand out to me. I guess similar to any other musical styIe.

I really like Insomnium's vocals. The growling styIe seems to play into the emotion from their songs and generally doesn't overpower the sound of the instruments.

I think he means something like this: (I love this song BTW)

Pretty nice song C:
That would be one that I wouldn't say I love the vocals, but the whole song put together works just fine.

Do you know there are screaming metal bands that preach Jesus? It's crazy I know, but totally true. But to me a good song is about good structure and Melody. Vocals are a second for me unless they sound good with the music, like don't sound out of place or forced upon.

I can't! :p

True for a lot of bands of those genres I 'spose.
I guess I can only speak for the general sound of them.

I find I sometimes have to look up the lyrics to a song to fully get them at full speed, and growling/screaming vocals just make it a bit harder (and sometimes difficult to know if they're speaking English without finding it out!).
Ideally I like the vocals to play into the atmosphere / sound of the song anyway, so lyrics aren't what I'll look into at first listen. Again same for most/a lot of genres.

It is something that pushes the boundaries of the human's ability to produce music with their bodies. I love it when it is well done, and produced by someone with musical talent. It really increases the expressiveness of really heavy, dark music, where melodic, "clean" vocals sound completely out of place (see: Metallica). Robb Flynn of Machine Head, Karl Sanders of Nile and Piotr Wiwczarek of Vader are my favourite vocalists.

I'm the same way. Lyrics don't mean to much to me unless they are structured in such a way that they work with song without sounding seperate from the song. I have another song that you can listen to if you wish. Is a folk/Death metal band. Once again from Finland. This time they are singing in an ancient Celtic language. :o

I've got all of their albums except their first one. ;D Have to order it some time.

That's a really good example for most people having to mostly go by the sound of the vocals rather than the words themselves.

I wonder how the band learnt Gaulish...

The SRT8 is awesome... but the SXT Blacktop is just dead sexy. It comes with the Pentastar V6 and the 8-speed auto with the paddles, and has the majority of the luxury options available as well. Plus, it doesn't cost $50,000.

I'll wait a few years and just buy it outright cash(30k-ish) I'm still driving my high school car :P

I need to upgrade, I was looking at a plum purple 2008 Charger, but I don't like the tail lights and I somewhat don't like the idea the charger is a sedan, I also kinda want my 440 Hemi, Maybe in future they'll listen to me.

As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to get one. And which tail lights don't you like? The first gen or the 2012? The 2012 has the best looking rear end on a non-exotic I've ever seen. The first gen... well, I won't voice my opinions about those atrocites. And I love the fact it is a sedan. That means cheaper insurance, no fumbling for rear passengers and lots of leg/head room. Plus, the Charger has always been a BIG car, and could easily have been a sedan back in the muscle car heyday. The Challenger was Dodge's pony car.

The first generation Charger, it had basic everyday mom car tail tights. I see how the sedan(4-door) is beneficial for some people(assuming you have kids), but I'm young I need my sporty look :P

I just want to purchase a muscle car with all the options, the paint of my desire so 20+ years from now I can give it to my son, and bam he has 30k for college.

I sold my 1969 Chevelle SS that I built myself, and I ended up getting 35k for it, but I haven't touched that money using it for school. That's why I drive in my ol' little 95 civic :P

Try screaming and talk at the same time, it's insanly hard. I can do it for a little(like one sentence) then I get like a gag reflex. Try and say this in a screamo voice "I worship the DEVIL".

I don't mind screaming in a song if it isn't the WHOLE song but rather, a passionate moment in the song or some such.

Thing like death metal though... can't stand it.

You gotta find the right heavy metal band to be honest. Yea some bands "screams" are fricken terrible and 0 harmony like you said but good metal bands such as lamb of god or all that remains (even though they're more metalcore) have really good screaming or harsh vocals.

Part of the song is "GRRRAHAHAHGRRRAHAHA" they're scream at the top of their longs, so partially it is.

It's like an alternative hybrid.

Try screaming and talk at the same time, it's insanly hard. I can do it for a little(like one sentence) then I get like a gag reflex. Try and say this in a screamo voice "I worship the DEVIL".

lol thats when technolgy comes in its not like that do it themselfs but i wouldn't say that cuz i don't like the Devil xD

They do it through full sets live O_o

Ahhh. Yes. But that's Screamo??

Part of the song is "GRRRAHAHAHGRRRAHAHA" they're scream at the top of their longs, so partially it is.

lol no drowning pool is not a screamo band at all and neither is that song.

I'm not too fond of it in general, but if a song has a mix of clean and screams and it's done right then it's something I can get into.
