Alright guys I'm seeing just tons of Black Ops threads so I'm making this quick sticky for you all to discuss the game without flooding the board.

Please try to keep spoilers out of your posts.

Sorry for any threads I had to lock. We had 6 threads on Black Ops on the front page alone.

Hey, when i first got the game it was fine for about 20 hours, only a small abit of lagg now when trying to connect to multiplayer it just hangs at the connecting/fetching stats screen when it was fine the day before. any ideas?

In a country where piracy is rampant the store had 4 copies left this afternoon out of 30 and I bought two.

Currently getting extremely frustrated at how terribly it's running when both MW 1 & 2 ran like butter maxed out :evil:

Ok I'm playing the game at 1680 x 1050 all maxed, AA X16 AF X8, with a GTX 275, 4 GB 800 Mhz and a Q6600 at 3.0 Ghz, obtaining around 70+ fps in sp and 50+ fps in mp (very variable, sometimes over 80 fps but most of time around 60 fps). The game runs fine buth technically is meh.

My first question: how can edit my profile and change my nickname in the multiplayer? Seems that the game is using my email as profile account...

Ok i connected after awhile, but i have to say other then that. the game runs fine for me steady 60fps on a gtx295 with no lagg other then server lagg.

Much better then Modern Warfare2. I told myself I woudlnt buy another COD game after the turd that was MOdern Warfare2, but they have done a great job in this new one, seem to have fixed hte issues I had with Modern Warfare2.

Only had a few rounds online but played a bunch of singleplayer.. a good campaign in a call of duty game? wicked! :P

Definatly impressed so far.

About the regeneration: campaign answer is NO, mutliplayer answer is I dunno, maybe in hardcore, medic answer is no.

I wish the lighting was better in this game. It looks very bland...

I'm having lag right now and got disconnected. Other than that, it's pretty fun. :P

I heard the game has issues with ATI 58xx cards and dual core cpus, and I have both. Can anyone with a core 2 duo processer or a 5850/70 confirm the game is working well?

If these issues are prevalent for everyone I'll probably wait for a bit before getting this.

I'm hearing that if you turn the steam cloud support off it will get rid of most of that, which makes sense, but I haven't tried it yet.

What the hell with that game. I've just bought it and now I'm experiencing the biggest lags i've ever had! Oh God! MF2 runs great, but without any reasons this 'product' rejects all my requests to play fine even while on min quality!

The game is darn right fun and impressive especially the multiplayer. If it weren't for the lag/stutter, I'd be having a great time online.

I was able to unlock the emblem customization and so far this is what I did :

I heard this game supports dedicated servers. Is the only way to get a dedicated server to pay a hosting company, or can you run a server out of your house?

Well you have to pay for a dedicated server but you can create private matches for you and your friends to play in.

What I was told (And did) was to find the Config.CFG / Config_mp.CFG file in the games Steam folder, then change the following: "seta sys_sysMB "1024" --> "seta sys_sysMB "4096"

Apparently the game believed I only had 1GB RAM.
Ps. Messing with the CFG file may prove to be risky and not work the way you'd want, so proceed with precaution.

guys black ops crashes on start up for me. It won't even start. Any help?

Just played the online for two hours, tons of fun.

Hardcore search and destroy on some of these maps are just awesome. That one level in team deathmatch with the manican's and the little bomb city set up is pretty fun to. I usually dont like small levels like that but this was fun.

Definatly alot more fun to me then MW2 was online. Having the browsers back is nice and amny other things.

Great job I gotta say, didnt think id liker a cod game ever again, but this is good fun.

The singleplayer is alot of fun to, but does have some slowdown in some spots for me, the onlien though has been runnign very well to. If you can get on a server with people in your country it doesnt lag at all, at least for me. Its when you get people from all over together like North American, UK, Brasil, Japan,etc.. all in one room is when things get nasty (as with most games).

In the end? Multiplayer and campaign are better here then they where in MW2 imo.

Its also nice to have a good COD campaign finally again (havnt really liked any of the cod campaigns since COD1 and COD2). The only problem I have with the game as a whole is the slowdowns in the campaign from time to time is annoying.

Derkinson did it again! He already has the damage tables from the guns as in BC 2 and is working in the other stuff. Now you can take a look over the Black Ops weapon stats and take your own conclusions about the efficicency of each one:

Installing the DirectX didn't help any for me (only multiplayer so far). The other thing worked though. Thanks

Thanks Baranga! That worked for the campaign stuttering! That was my only real issue with the game (multiplayer i dont get the stuttering, just campaign once in awhile) glad its working better now (:

Played a bit of the singleplayer and the multiplayer, my thoughts... (+ means positive, - means negative)

+ Decent graphics with good framerates
+ Multiplayer seemed pretty fun
+ Solid combat and action sequences
- Too much use of awkward slo-mo.
- The out-of-game cutscenes are out of place and laggy.
- Cringe-worthy action sequences scattered throughout the campaign
- Game series has noticeably devolved from its roots.
- Music in the game is nothing special
- Campaign relies so heavily on scripting that it feels unnatural play (game will expect a player to stand in a certain place to initiate the next sequence, but will only work if you follow what they're trying to get you to look at.

First 49 minutes (Single Player) - I was a bit disappointed. Wasn't too thrilled. Graphics were decent, not as good as the other COD games. Gameplay was okay, nothing I haven't seen before.

50 - 2 hours (Single Player) - Sooo much better than the first 49 minutes. There were so many awesome moments. They really went out all out with it. Black Ops campaign is my favorite COD campaign thus far. Graphics are a lot better. Way better. Everything is better after the first hour.

I'd like to say that I like scripted moments. The cinematic sequences are fun as hell. There's nothing wrong with it. If I wanted to play something that was the opposite, I would go play Oblivion or Crysis, or whatever. Everything ties in so well and aren't out of place. Once I started playing, I didn't want to stop, it's too much fun. Missions are varied and you never get bored. It's a fun ride. Frank Woods is one badass motherF%%*

The single player is amazing. i have three missions left to finish the game but so far i was blown away by the quality and fast pace action.

multiplayer: there is i ve beenhere done this before feeling.

zombies:i amvery dissapointed. i dont like the zombies at all and i am suprised that some people do. where is the co op action of mw2? nothing can compare with the amazing and spectacular thrills of mw2 co-op. This is what we need in games. not staying in a building fight waves of zombies which is boring and meh. No real co-op campaign is a big minus

Presentation: very good. i liked the idea of interogating. very nice

other problems: LAG. i dont have a super computer but at least i could run mw2 like butter. dual core 2.4, 3gb ram 8800gts is enough to play this game descent. But no, there is so much LAGwhich sometimesmakes the game unplayable.

1. FIX THE LAG ASAP

2. RELEASE CO-OP EXPANSION MISSIONS

3. PATCHES FOR SOME GLITCHES
