Yes, Crosby is a great player, but he hasn't even played this season and he is on the All-Star Ballot. |:

[QUOTE="Swanogt19"]Idk where it came from. We needed him to play a bigger role this year. Thus far he has done that. Los9090I know Kessel is having a great start, but I'm sure Toronto is thinking, "what if" Nah, they're happy. Kessel is having a fantastic start, and pretty much got even with the Kaberle trade (Colborne who leads the AHL in goals or points or both, and a pick that was Stuart Percy, a very good looking D-man). Kessel is only 24 as well, so it's not some old guy they got. He's the youngest forward with no Kadri or Fattin I think.
No suspension for Milan Lucic for his hit on Ryan Miller...sure to be a hot topic at the next GM meetingLos9090Which is today. Lucic should have been suspended. This really blurs the line on what will and what won't be suspendable now. I agree with Ruff and Regher (sp?) that this just opens the door to players taking runs at goalies when they're out to play the puck. I'm sure if Boston lost Thomas, they'd feel the same. While I'm on the goalie topic, Gionta should have gotten a game or 2 for the hit on Reimer.

Having seen the hit, I disagree. It's pretty much a charge and that's about it. How would you even go about suspending him? What are you going to suspend him on charging? Intent to injury? Which is hard to prove in this instance. Does it suck that Miller got hit, yeah. Is this particular hit suspendable, not really. Lucic wasn't even skating hard and was gliding at the point of contact. It's a tough sport for all players involved. Unless the GM's change the rules it isn't going to result in a suspension. The way I see it Miller was the one who put himself in that postion. He has every right to go out and try and get that puck, just as Lucic has every right to try and get that puck.

I agree, but you can't let him get away with knocking out a goalie, no matter where they are. He could have stopped. He could have bear hugged him. But he ran over Miller and injured him. He glided sure, but he raised him arms looking to hit him. And he's got 50 pounds on Miller and Miller was defenseless. He should have gotten a game. I see goalies like a QB, they are the big time position on the ice, you can't win without a good goalie like you can't win without a good QB. Miller is one of the best. The NHL has to do everything it can to protect them, like NFL with QB's. Shanahan said they aren't off-limits. But where do you draw the line? Something worse than this (which IDK how it could). What if this happens next week? Surely you can't suspend the player, not after this.[QUOTE="GT90"][QUOTE="JohnBean42"] Which is today. Lucic should have been suspended. What a game so far...and still a period to go. I'm very impressed with The Monster. I think he feels he has to prove something after sitting since Nov. 8. And after allowing the first shot to go in.
Is this real life? Vokoun pulled, 6 (yes, SIX) goals so far, only one of which is Kessel.
Anyone else think Boudreau is going to be fired? Maybe not after tonight (although Leonis and McPhee are there), but it looks like the Caps have just...stopped playing for him, the message isn't getting through. Ovie looks terrible, heck, the whole team does.
I'd love a consistent WEEK from him. I have yet to see a string of 3, 4 or 5 starts where he plays really well, like Reimer did last year. I think it has more to do with his playing time, which rattles his confidence. Coming into tonight, he was 2-5-1 and like a .860 SV% and 4.29 GAA at home since last Nov 10th or so. Worst in hockey with min. 6 starts. Now THIS is exactly what has needed to happen at the ACC the past three games.
Great on Gustavsson, hopefully his GAA and SV% keep improving after this. I would love a consistent season from him. :3

Plus they play tomorrow in Carolina, and they just said Scrivens would. I expected that, back-to back nights (game is actually at 5), on the road. Now THIS is exactly what has needed to happen at the ACC the past three games.

Ya, I forgot during the game that a line worth of players and the #1 goalie were out. 1/3rd of the cap hit:P That makes it really impressive. I'm excited to see Holtzer tomorrow. I can't imagine what happens if he plays well over the time he's given. Franson could be traded to make room, or he could be back in the minors. It's amazing how much depth we have now.Steckel adds to it shorthanded.
This is probably one of the best games of the season from the Leafs, and they also did it without a significant portion of their starting lineup. ^^

You would think with no NBA they would be getting more coverage.so glad Sid is back just so we can stop hearing about it...Barry Melrose keeps touting them as the best team ever, I'm so tired of ESPN's uneven coverage of NHL.
Going to the Caps/Coyotes game tonight :)

Tell me about it. :)Man my Bruins are on fire. However, they need to beat the Habs. Can't stand them.

Try not to kill Crosby again, stupid rules. Imagine any other sports if they lost their best players because the sports likes to clings to some Neanderthals like rules. Football have become concussion conscious, baseball too. Even baseball added replay. What I'm saying is maybe is time to make some changes. Master_LiveWhat do you think the NHL has been doing? They have implemented a lot of new rules. Plus they brought in "Sheriff Shanny", a much more modern view on the sport, and he's been very tough on headshots and explaining the rules to GM, coaches and players. They can't take hitting out of the game and these injuries WILL happen unfortunately. But they're doing their best to lower the risk. What do you want them to do, abandon what has made hockey, hockey: the fast paced action with hitting and fighting? My question is that if your an Islanders player or any other team playing Pitt. the next week or so, and you have Crosby lined up...do you hit him? That's been the topic of a big discussion here on sports radio in Toronto.

This guy could go Justin Morneau on us pretty quickly if he isn't already there.
Only really special players could miss 10 months and score after being on the ice for :59 seconds. What a beast.
pens fan or not, gotta love it!Crosby is playing like he never missed a beat. The man is something special. (':
