Bruce Boudreau fired this morning. Former London Knights (OHL) coach is his replacement.

I called this about a week ago after the Leafs wiped the floor with them. I think a lot of people saw this coming though.

It's funny, there was a tweet from a fake Nick Kypreos account saying that Boudreau was going to be (or had been) fired and replaced with Hunter last night lol.

Watching Buffalo beat Washington 5-1, it was like the Caps didn't even care. I mean, sure there were a lot of players just called up from Rochester and Boudreau wasn't sure how to game plan but you could see the dagger hovering above his head.

I'm not surprised by the firing either. Not sure what will happen to the Cpas after this though but the last couple games have been bad.

having met Bruce, I am sad to see him go. He is such a character and had brought a fresh take on things, but the players have long since not responding to him. I can't imagine coming into a gig like this. All these super stars who won't play to their potential, what do you do? I only hope my Caps can still make it into the playoffs!

Thats the thing. 9 regulars out of the lineup, and Washington looked...disinterested. Ovie didn't break a sweat, Semin and Backstrom were nowhere. Bruce had just lost the team. Ovie can't do what he's been doing or he'll be having a seat on the bench...maybe even the pressbox. And Semin too. Paul Maurice also fired by Carolina, Kirk Muller named replacement. Who's next? Arniel? Carlyle?

It's about time Bruce is fired. Should've been done after they lost to the Canadiens in the 2010 playoffs

So apparently Ryan Miller faked a concussion so Lucic could get suspended (paraphrased of course)

His quote was that he "probably never had a concussion."

Do what a coach is supposed to do, and to bring in good culture and professionalism into a team. Obviously he was failing with that.

I think once he lost Ovie, the rest followed Ovie and stopped listening. According to McPhee, he tried everything to bring the team back. I think this is just a selfish team, with their captain having no respect for the coach from the looks of it. Has not played hard at all since the Olympics.

Interesting. If true Miller will lose a lot of respect.

I hate to say it, but I think selfish and self righteous are all terms you could use for my Caps. After listening to their locker room interviews yesterday, I was really disappointed. Some of them are getting paid millions and millions of dollars and they don't feel like playing? So a guy loses his job because you don't feel like playing? I hate to root against my own team, but I'm very conflicted about all of this.

A lot of talk about Bobby Ryan on the block and of course, Burke is interested. And why wouldn't he be? Huge offensive upgrade (3 straight 30 goal seasons), he drafted Ryan and really likes the player. Had very high praise at the Olympics last year.

For the Leafs, a package of Grabo, Aulie/Gunnarsson and maybe a first rounder or one of Kulemin/Kadri would get things started. I don't even think that would be enough.

And Kessel leads all players in ASG votes, Reimer 3rd in goalies while being hurt. I'm sure a lot of people are upset with both:P I'd love to see Kessel captain and pick Ovie last:lol:

Kessel has too much class to do such a thing. I can understand people being upset about Reimer getting votes, but they can't tread on Kessel at all.

I don't know...he does have too much class, but it'd be funny. And I agree. I just meant I'm sure Bruin, Habs or Sens fans can't be happy to see a Leaf at the top, and another (Phaneuf) almost top of the Dmen.

The ONLY reason Alfredsson is playing in this game is because it's in Ottawa, he wouldn't be otherwise. Only Senator actually deserving at this point is Karlsson.

I wish more Bruins fans were like you. I read way too many bad comments from them on NHL.com or TSN:P Big game tonight. Toronto (the media and fans, not so much the players) are talking like this is a playoff game. Maybe not, but it is one of the most important games in recent memory for this team. Big test tonight.

ha thanks. Yeah, this should be a great game. Watching it now. And yes, it is very important. Not playoff important, but still.

No, that would be Cooke, Avery or Ott. Maybe Lucic. Solid period. Gustavsson was great.

Well, this game looks over. That was terrible by Schenn. Then gets out muscled by Lucic.

Cody Franson got scratched late....a Bobby Ryan deal is "imminent". NYR and Philly aren't factors. Hmmm...showcase for Aulie? Or Franson on the block? Ducks want a top 4 Dman, and like Franson. I have no problem trading him and Kulemin.

Ugh. Well, there is always Saturday I guess... But it was definitely an improvement over the last two games they played against them. That being said, WTF SCHENN BHFBDSKNAHBFDNZUBSKFSKFJKLDBNSIJDK

Kudos to the Bruins for not losing in regulation the entire month, that takes a lot of effort.

I had to study for a chemistry and biology test tomorrow. So I did all that this afternoon. Now I forget everything.

Do you think Reimer actually starts on Saturday, or Gustavsson has a short leash? 3 games, 3 losses, a lot of goals. Not all his fault, but still.

Missed the game due to a study session. Looks like I might miss the next game as well for a party. Caught the highlights though. Seemed like a good game. I don't mind the Leafs scoring as long as Kessel doesn't get a goal. :P

I think there is a slim chance that they'll start Reimer, but I think Wilson realizes this wasn't Gustavsson's fault (especially the ones off of Bozak's skate and the blunder by Schenn), but I think they'll start him in New York on Monday. I wonder what is to become of Bobby Ryan though. He might not get traded, but he would look good in a Leafs uniform. :v But inb4 all the Canadian nationalists scream "hurr durr more Americans on this team"

And then before the Pension Plan backed off on selling their stake in MLSE, how that Providence Equities or whatever wanted to buy it. And when you actually live smack down in the city (I'm on U of T's main campus for the year) s*** makes everyone angry.

Why does it it matter how much Americans there are on the team. Last season the Bruins only had 3 Americans and I didn't see anyone complain about that.

Because it's Toronto. That's why. The argument is pretty much "This is the hockey capital of the world, "Canada's Team", we can't have those Americans running it!" I agree with Burke and anyone with common sense: If the player is great, I don't care where they're from.

[QUOTE="JohnBean42"]I thought of that last night. A lot of Leaf fans are upset about how many Americans there are, plus the GM and coach. But they want Ryan. I think Boudreau's hiring will slow down trade talks...until they continue losing. But a trade was "imminent", so we'll see. JohnBean42

It is pretty much this. It is the largest media market, and the Leafs being the Leafs get the most amount of attention, even during off-season it seems. I remember on the Facebook page before the regular season started, people were constantly b****ing about how many Americans were on the team. It was ridiculous. I don't f***ing care, this is the best season we have had so far since the lockout. I remember my mother even commenting on the American investors showing interest. "They're going to move the team!" I f***ing lol'd so hard at the prospect of moving one of the most successful franchises away from such a hockey crazy city. It won't happen

Move the team? That'd be the dumbest thing Bettman had ever done. Tell her than just cause American investors own a part, only the teachers pensions part of MLSE, won't mean they move:lol:

I did, she still insisted that Americans should never own them because they are American. S***'s ridiculous, I honestly can't believe how many people care so much where the owner is from.

So Reimer is cleared to play. But Wilson said today they've told Gus that he's starting, as expected. I see no problem with Reimer starting though. Why not get him back in there? Having him sit on the bench won't help him get back into shape, plus Gus and Scrivens are 0-3 this year vs. Boston. I think Gus will have a short leash.

And I don't care if it's Boston and that they're playing hot. NYR are also very hot right now. So he'll start against a hot team regardless.

Bruins signed Krecji through the 14-15 season. :D He's my favorite player. Ever since he stepped in when Savard got injured years back.

I don't know what it is, but I'm just not impressed with Schenn. Giveaways, isn't using his body, not getting the puck out. I would have no problem trading him for a top 6 or top 4 forward. We have enough depth. I like the play more of Aulie and Gardiner.

It's amazing how different this team plays differently defensively in front of Reimer. The second goal was bad but all in all, they look different.

Sigh... Even Rask needs to show us up. :c

Not going to lie, i am fairly certain JFJ got rid of Rask solely because he was Finnish and Pogge was Canadian. Look how that turned out with Raycroft and Pogge being a f***ing major flop.

I personally think they gave up on Raycroft to fast. They had a terrible team, especially the D then and he still won 37 games one year. But I agree.
